Adventures Of Bayek: Through The Void And Beyond

Bayek and Ruby stood on the streets of Cairo, Egypt. After the duo left Wakanda, they spent Ruby's birthday in Santorini. From there they tracked down, Lucy and Joseph Bauer to retrieve the legendary Darkhold according to Bayek's memories.

The original plan was to give the Darkhold to Dr.Sterns to expedite his work and then leave to find the Hydra Siberian Facility. However even before they could leave Medjay Industries, Reports of Irregular massive lightning storms over Cairo started to come in. It was something that Bayek knew he had to investigate. If some had power like X-Men's Storm, Bayek didn't want them anywhere except for Medjay Industries.

Miles away on a private estate in Salem Center, New York stood a massive mansion. On a plaque attached to the front gate read: Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. Within the walls of the school. Children ran through the halls displaying extraordinary abilities. Beneath the school hid many secrets, but the most valuable secret was called, Cerebro. Cerebro is a machine developed by the US Government designed to enhance telepathic abilities to aid in locating mutants around the world.

Beneath Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Cerebro was being activated. A 78-year-old man sat in a wheelchair wearing a metal helmet connected to a metal panel. If one didn't understand how Cerebro operated, they would think the elderly man was talking to himself

"When you arrive in Cairo be extremely careful. When Logan came to us years ago, we searched for a woman named, Ororo Munroe. She was supposed to exist but didn't. We couldn't find her at the time. But I believe, this Ororo Meroe, Is Ororo Munroe."

"How is that possible, Professor?" a male voice asked through the telepathic transmission

"We don't know everything about altering time and realities. But when Logan reached us in the past, he probably connected to a reality close, but not exactly the same as the one he intended to." Said the professor

"We'll be cautious, Professor" was the last thing the man said before the professor ended the transmission.

Back in Cairo, Bayek and Ruby sat in a restaurant eating Calamari, rice, and vegetables. Bayek wanted to get a feel for the city environment and how things operated.

"Bayek can I taste some wine?" Ruby asked.

"Sure" Bayek handed his glass to her without a second thought.

He just couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that all of Cairo was rumble 30 years ago.

"What are you thinking about, Bayek?" asked Ruby.

"En Sabah Nur. An extremely powerful mutant from ancient Egypt. He was revived in 1983 and turned this place to rubble. He wanted to turn to ash and remake according to what he thought was perfection. Which was ultimately a world where everyone worshiped him. He was a pretty psychotic guy"

"So what happened to him?" Ruby asked while stuffing her face

"He was put down by the X-Men...How don't you know about this?" Bayek looked a little concerned

"Mmmm, maybe I'm too young" she replied

"No, Hydra would have taught you that? you know about inhuman, the tesseract, and other worlds. Mutants, Homo Sapiens Superior, should have been the first lesson. It's a homegrown threat." explained Bayek

"I mean, yes, we know of mutants. But, they are a rarity. too rare to worry about. And when one is identified they're either exterminated or taken to be experimented on. But I'm telling you, they didn't teach us anything about an attack on Cairo or X-Men. Only the Cuban missile crisis. The two mutants responsible--Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, were killed in the fight, along with their team."

Bayek didn't know what to think about what she had just told him. Taking another sip of his drink, Bayek began to meditate on everything he knew of the world so far. He acquired Trask Industries, they had fallen to rock bottom over the years without the help of mystique's DNA. Looking at Trask industries records, the Weapon X project was initiated and completed. Wolverine and other notable x men's DNA was all on file indicate a new weapon x project could be initiated, leading to the new mutants in 2023.

Thinking back on it, Bayek realized that he saw names like Logan, Jean Grey, Charles Xavier, and more when looked at Trask's industries files. But he also stopped halfway through when he assumed that all the X-men were present. But what he couldn't figure out was the way the dates in Trask Industries indicated that Charles Xavier and Erik Lahnsherr are alive and well.

"Bayek!" Ruby nearly shouted, pulling Bayek from his thoughts

"Dude I've been calling you. What's wrong?" She asked

Bayek shook his head and replied, "N-nothing. what's up?"

"The guy Dr.Sterns told us about, he just walked in." Ruby gestured towards the restaurant entrance.

Bayek took a glance at the entrance and saw a 6-foot brown-skinned man in an expensive suit, "That's him, Mahmoud Fawzi, captain of Egypts Katakat-- A secret group within the GIS. The only have one purpose, Identify and apprehend Mutants...You're up Ruby" Bayek then stood up and left the table.

After a few moments, Ruby rose from her chair and began to walk towards the captain. when she was around 5 feet away from the captain, her left foot hit the ground and the people in the room fell into an illusion. As Ruby snatched the captain she got a glimpse of a three-man team watching her with confused expressions.

"That's not possible" she muttered while activating her sling ring.

In a hotel room, Captain Mahmoud Fawzi was bound to a chair unconscious, while Ruby told Bayek about the weird team from the restaurant

"What did they look like?" he asked

"They were older looking, and they all had an intensity about them. Except for the girl she had white hair, she looked a bit younger, mid 30's perhaps. The older woman is ginger and extremely powerful, She was the one protecting them from the illusion. The man wore a metal band around his eyes, athletically built. "

Bayek's face contorted, "So they are alive. We need to make this fast... Ruby gets that information out of Fawzi's head, now. Dr. Sterns, can you hear me?"

"Yes, Mr. Siwa" he replied

"I want to know the status of Xavier's school for gifted youngsters," Bayek asked as he watched Ruby crudely use the mystic arts to dive into Fawzi's mind

"Sir, Xavier's school for gifted youngsters is gone. It hasn't been active since 1983" said Dr.Sterns

"That's all I need to know" Bayek replied.

From this point, Bayek had a rough idea about what had happened. And the way the mind worked, it naturally conjured answers 10 times worse than the actual truth. But this time, Bayek's conjectures were on the money. What if a person was so powerful, if they had the right tool -- Cerebro, they could amplify their power to a god-likee level, altering the minds of virtually every citizen of the world.

Shortly after Bayek's and Sterns' conversation, Ruby returned with the name and location of the person responsible for the otherworldly lightning storms. Though, when Bayek activated his sling ring, it led Bayek to Medjay industries.

"Why aren't we going to Serengeti?" asked Ruby

"I am, you aren't. shit is about to get real dangerous..."
