An Innocent Heart Longing For Love

Chapter 62 - Kathy, Anna's mother was too unique (2)

"Your mother didn't even flinch a slight, she stood facing him in elegant and decorum. If you want a single word to describe her, I would say 'Noble' and You won't believe me if I say how your mother tackled him, She took a paper and pen out of her backpack and wrote something in it and hand it over to him."

"Once he read it, he looked back at Kathy in astonishment. That's it, The arrogant demon was nowhere there and was replaced by a weak and fragile being. He grasped the paper in his hands and hastily took his backpack and ran from the spot.

He was always an undefeatable beast, On the other, Kathy didn't even utter a single word from start to the end but her simple note made him run away in haste. I really did wonder what did she wrote which made the big demon surrender in anguish. I pestered her to answer me and her answer was,

"The biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted." ~Mother Teresa

"On the firsthand, I didn't understand what does it mean and when I thought through it, I figured out how lonely Clayton was and how everyone looked at him. Each and everyone avoided him as if he was a flu, No one dared to come near to him. He used to sit alone in the back bench and away from the whole world like he doesn't exist.

Kathy never ever pitied him, it was a simple fact that he was so lost. She just lit a candle for him to find his way out of the feeling of being rejected by others. It was a disease that he needs to overpower with his own will, no medication or treatment can cure it."

"She opened her arms to accept him as a part of her world. It really did overwhelm me, She really did had the ability to read people, she was gifted. I started calling her from then on as little Theresa, definitely not to mock her, she really was... something." Luyisa chuckled and Anna smiled back at her.

"Clayton didn't return to classes for the next two days, It took him two days time to accept the blow, Your mother was very smart I should say. When he returned, as if nothing happened between them, they both walked in their own directions. And Kathy, as usual, placed her pack of cookies in his backpack during his gym classes.

This time, Clayton did notice her activities from a distance but he didn't do anything. I still remember how he stood and watched Kathy in anticipation, It was as if he wished that she would again be the same as before and continue to do as she did once. When she buried the cookies in his backpack, I even noticed him smiling broadly."

"Kathy continued to bring more homemade puddings, pies, snacks, everything that she can to him. One day, she left some money for him to buy his team dress for the tournament. At the end of the day, we found a cover in Kathy's backpack, inside the cover there was a letter and the money that Kathy left for Clayton was there."

The letter reed,

Hi Kathy,

I am sorry for what I said the other day.

I am okay with your homemade puddings and cookies but I can't accept your money. It was like throwing an insult to me.

"It was a simple note, yet I felt his rage in it. However, your mother laughed at it and wrote back on the other side of the letter,

Hi Clayton,

I am happy that you know my name.

I want to give you a gift for the tournament as a stroke of good luck and I thought the best gift would be the one you are wearing. Since I cannot buy the team T-shirt myself, I considered if I pay for the T-shirt then it would be considered as a gift from me, Right!

Won't you accept a gift from your new fond friend? Am I bad luck to you?

~Kathy

"And the letter made the magic, he accepted it and in return, he brought her a bracelet as a return gift. Your mother wore it until the date she disappeared from the city. From then on, They started passing notes and each letter from him would start with the note 'Hi My good luck'"

Anna interjected her Aunt, "What?! Mom disappeared?!" her eyes were filled with lots of questions.
