As the morning comes, Vali has already awakened from his sleep. Not long after he woke up, he freshens up and begins to read the books he borrowed from the Library.

Quickly going through the books, Vali understood how the basics of magic work. Although magic might look complicated to the layperson, in the very basic explanation, magic is simply just the manipulation of energies. Though there are several types of energies attributes and sources of energies which makes the manipulation harder, it is still manipulation of energies.

And from reading the books, Vali had learned that there are 3 main types of energy sources. Firstly, personal energies or egocentric energies, which a person or a being innately possess. And that the amount a person possess varies from one another. This amount could be increased through training oneself and the amount of increase varies from person to person. But in the average case, this increase could almost be close to nothing.

Vali learned that the second source of energy is universal energies or ecocentric energies, this refers to the energies present in the universe and the environment. And to control these energies present in the universe, one has to be able to give commands like the use of spells, runes or hand gestures.

And thirdly, exocentric energies or dimensional energies in which a being draws power or energies from other dimensions or higher beings to augment their own powers.

Although, there are several other types of magics like necromancy where a being draws energies from the energies of people that died or chaos energies where the energy is sourced from people fears. This type of magics can be included in exocentric energies.

As Vali had learned the types of energies and the basics on how to manipulate them, he begins to test out if he could manipulate the energies from the three source, starting with the first one.

So, Vali slowly drives the energies in his body to manipulate and then manifest it. But as he did this, all of his skills got activated. Baffled by this occurrence, Vali gave it another try. And this time too, the same results had occurred. Still, Vali did not give up and try to manipulate his personal energies in a different way, and he kept on trying for over an hour. And even though Vali manipulates his energies in a different way, the result still does not change.

As he could not find any other explanation, he believes that his skills are the manifestation of his personal energies.

And since trying to manipulate his personal energy is a bust, Vali thought he should give the universal energy a try. And to manipulate the universal energy, one has to first sense it before even trying to manipulate it.

So, to help him sense the energies, Vali quickly activated his Kenbunshoku Haki. And with his improved sensing ability because of Haki and due to his high knowledge of rune magic he got from constant training to increase its level, Vali could easily sense this universal energy.

Although to the n.a.k.e.d eye, these energies present in the environment are colorless, but to Vali, right now who is not using his eyes to see and sense the energies, he could see that every single energy in the environment is made up of different colors.

As he senses the energies around him, with his eyelids tightly shut, Vali thought that he would be able to see nothing except complete darkness. But he seems to see all kinds of color floating around him.

Knowing that this must be the universal energies that he had read about, Vali begins to follow the basic spells and hand gestures written in the books he had borrowed to manipulate the energies.

Like in the case with personal energies, even after trying to control it for dozens of time, there seems to be no result. And even instead of manipulating the energies to do his d.e.s.i.r.ed wish, the energies begin to gather around his body instead.

Puzzled by the event that is happening, Vali then tries it out again. And this time too, even though Vali followed the instructions down to the last dot, he still is not able to manipulate the energies.

Even after giving it a few more tries, Vali is still unable to do it. Remembering that what the system had said when he first acquired new skills, Vali cursed out. Does this mean he could only learn three skills while others who does not even possess a system learn innumerable skills if they put in the work?

If this is the truth, this could possibly be the worst luck imaginable. So Vali questions that even though he possesses a system and he put in the work and effort to learn new skills, will he still truly not get any benefits? Will he be unable to learn any new thing and get stronger?

Having this realization, Vali could not accept it. What he actually thought is a blessing is a curse in disguise?

" No, to hell with it. And to hell with the system. Could it even be considered a system? This is a shitstem. " thought Vali in his mind.

" Before even I possess the system, in my previous life, I could still learn things by myself. " said Vali as he steeled himself to bypass the restriction of the system.

Sensing the energies around him, since he could not manipulate the energies, Vali thought about what he could do for a while.

" If I could not manipulate external energies, maybe I should make these energies into my own. " Vali thought as he had an epiphany.

With this in mind, Vali begins to try and absorb the energy. Then he immediately sat down to meditate.

Knock!

But, before Vali could do anything, a knock came from his door.

Hearing the knock, Vali felt irritated, he thought who could be interrupting him at this moment, so he asked, " Who is it? "

Then, a voice immediately came from outside the door, " It's Hela. Can you unlock the door? I want to come in."

Vali slowly stood up as he said, " Okay. I am coming." Then we walked slowly to the door as he is a bit annoyed by the interruption.

Crreeaak..

Vali slowly unlocks the door and pulls it backwards. Then he said, " What is it? What are you doing here right now? "

Staring at Vali who is drenched in sweat and seems to be tired, Hela replied, " Why haven't you clean yourself up? Did you forget that it's almost time for the classes to start? "

Although Vali had already cleaned himself up as soon as he woke up, due to the fact that he is busy trying to learn magic, he looks severely stressed and tired. At one point, Vali even exerted himself too much to try and manipulate the energies which made him look like he is attempting to forcefully let out a fart.

" I am taking a leave. " replied Vali.

" Wh..What? Why? " asked Hela as she stuttered a bit.

" No reason. " casually replied Vali. He did not dare to tell Hela the true reason. He did not want Hela to be more envious of him than she already is now. Also, since Kvasir told him that his achievement would be kept a secret, he did not want to spill it out himself and make the availability of that knowledge vulnerable for Angerboda to learn.

" No reason? " said Hela in surprise, then she continued, " Do you want father to punish you? Did you already forget how scary he can be? "

" It has been a long time since father had shown us how scary he can be. Maybe I might be actually missing it. " said Vali as he laughed.

The scariness of Odin the two are referring to is during the days when Odin himself train the two almost every day. Due to the intensity of the training, the both of them still could not forget it.

" Stop with your joking. " said Hela.

After a short pause, she continued, " If you take a leave, then I will too. And if father wants to punish us, I will just blame you then. " Hela said as she smirks.

" Why you....." said Vali as a smile begins to form on his face.

Then, after this, the two of them laughed for a while before Hela asked, " So, if you are taking a leave, what are you going to do today? "

" I am going to train myself. " said Vali.

Hearing this, Hela sighed and then she says, " What's the point in you taking a leave if you are just going to train? "

" Are you suggesting a day off? " replied Vali.

" Yes. Relax yourself once in a while. " said Hela

" Okay. Wait here. " replied Vali as he went off into another room to clean himself up and change his clothes.

After he is done, Vali then comes back into the room and said, " I'm done. Let's go. " Then the two of them left the palace.
