Carnage In Another World

Chapter 11 - 11: the Battle Ensues

Adrian sat up on his bunk inside the demon hunters guild. Getting to his feet, he walked down the stairs into the main hall. Arthur, Elian, and a few others were already there discussing the plans for the upcoming battle. There were quite a few demons in the grove by the waterfall.

"Well, look who's here." Arthur pointed as Adrian walked up, his hair still messy from sleeping.

"I didn't take you for the type to show up late to his own party." Elian joked, laughing as she looked at him. "Trying to start a new trend? I'm not sure if it will become popular."

"ha ha ha, your a comic genius." Adrian mocked, swiftly sl.i.c.k.i.n.g his hair down. "So, what's the plan?" They took their time, and spoke at length.

Finally, around mid-day, they had their plan and decided it was time to head out. With Adrian leading the way, the party ventured deep into the forest. Adrian's interface made reaching the waterfall much easier with it's highlighted waypoint.

Looking down the waterfall, the group could tell that Adrian did not exaggerate in the least. In fact, it seems there were more than he led on, as if they had multiplied.

"Hey, I don't see the big one you mentioned anywhere" one of the other five demon hunters, said.

"me either" echoed another.

"Don't worry, you'll know when you see him." Adrian stated.

"Okay! Everyone get in position, wait on Elian's signal." Arthur declared to everyone.

The demon hunters scattered in order. Elian was at the top, followed by two archers at her side. Next, Arthur and Adrian on the left, and the other three demon hunters one the right.

"inferni" Elian whispered as a glowing red fireball sparks to life in each of her hands. She threw the fire balls into the midst of the piranha headed demons. Two of the smaller demons were blasted apart almost instantly, the heavy smell of charred flesh wafted around the grove.

At this time Adrian, Arthur, and the other five demon hunters ran into the middle of the confused demons.

Adrian struck the closest demon in the face with the broadside of his sword. The demons head bent at an odd angle and collapsed on the ground.

Adrian then charged a larger demon, delivering a flurry of slashes to the beast in front of him. While the beast was able to survive the first two blows, the third one sliced a few of the claws off the demons front, left paw. Reeling in agony, the demon screamed, throwing itself backwards. Adrian capitalized on this opening and ran the sword threw beasts heart. It thrashed around for a moment more before crashing in a pool of its own blood.

Arthur, danced around the battlefield, cutting the tendons on the demon's legs with precise accuracy. Each demon that came across his path would end up with the same fate. While the other three demon hunters followed behind him and finished the beasts off.

Elian and the two archers, on top of the waterfall, made sure to stop any stragglers that got too far from the main battle. The word "inferni" could be heard from time to time followed by a loud explosion, along with the cries and smell, of burning demons.

As the battle ensued, Adrian had killed two of the larger demons and three of the smaller ones. Bringing his total exp gain into the to 900's.

As the battle ended the smell of blood and the charred bodies stench tinged the noses of the party. The ground around the battlefield was a mud pit full of blood and body parts. In the heat of battle, one of the other demon hunters had his arm ripped from its socket by the death throes of an injured demon, while another was blinded and got her head crushed in the maw of a larger demon.

At that moment, before they had a chance to catch their breath, one of the archers on top of the waterfall screamed out as he was suddenly sent flying into the water below. Landing with a harsh 'thud', audibly breaking his neck on a rock protruding from the water.

Panic aroused the hunters and their eyes followed up the waterfall.

The boss had arrived.
