Carnage In Another World

Chapter 18 - Unspeakable Event

Earlier that day Arthur had found traces of his brother. The camp fire he had found could not have been more than a day old which meant his brother was not traveling fast. This, in turn, gave him hope. After another days travel, he finally came to the odd town nestled in the forest.

"State your intentions?" the man atop shouted down.

"I am looking for a man, his personality is that of a stubborn a.s.s." Arthur said, as he placed his horizontally at his collar bone. "Around this tall."

"Yeah, he passed through around a day ago. He would not heed warnings, so we put an arrow in him." the man atop the wall laughed.

"S-shot him...is he still alive?!" Arthur bellowed, as the color drained from his face.

"Not sure, he was still alive when he hobbled his way into the woods." the man shouted back, still snickering.

A glimmer of hope sprung back into his, sunken eyes. "Which way did he go?" he asked excitedly.

Without replying, the man pointed the direction out to him.

"Thank you" Arthur bowed deeply, before sprinting off into the wood. It did not take him long to find a trail of blood. As a demon hunter, he was adept in tracking. He followed the trail for a short while longer before he dropped to his knees screaming. The bloody corpse of his brother was strewn all about the area.

Just then staring at the remains of his brother, something inside him snapped. He grew cold, no emotion could be seen on his face.

In his view, everything he saw before him was his fault. His blood boiled, his eyes turned red, a malicious looking grin began to form on his face. Insanity had taken over.

Adrian and Elain, were currently in the midst of battle. The surrounding area was laced with scorch marks. The demon in front of them, was bleeding from its 7 orifices, crumpled on the ground. It's features were disfigured, such that it was impossible to tell it previous appearance.

Panting, as he had just gone through a difficult battle, Adrian walked forward to claim the last strike. As he plunged his blade deep into the creatures skull, the familiar notifications appeared.

"That's the fourth Rank E. that we've run into so far" Adrian wheezed, wiping the sweat from his brow. He put his weapon back into his inventory, before turning to Elain and asking, "Where to next, Elain?"

"Hmm... allow me a moment to think," she replied. "let's take a short break at least."

Adrian nodded his head, and sat on the trunk of a fallen tree. [stats] He though, and the window appeared.

Adrian, pondered for a moment before putting 5 points each in STR, VIT, END, and AGI. Placing them at 20, 12, 17, and 20, respectively. A rush of energy surged through his body, melting his fatigue away and relaxing his mind.

Elain could feel the energy run through Adrian, like static in the air. She watched as the condition of his body improved. She couldn't believe her eyes, but the proof was plain as day. [there is more to him than meets the eye, he just keeps finding new ways to peak my interest] she thought. She, herself, was exhausted and could only sit down. A hint of jealousy showed on her face, as she looked at Adrian's recovery speed. [that's some stamina] she laughed to herself.

Having recovered, Adrian walked over to Elain and passed her a health potion. She swiftly drank the whole vial, before passing him back an empty one.

[she has been drinking these like energy drinks the last few days, it's ironic, but I doubt it healthy.] Adrian thought, "maybe we should head back to town today?" he suggested.

"I agree, we've been out here fight for close to 3 days, now." she nodded fervently, "I could use a real bed and bath."

"Okay, then we will rest here a short while longer, then head back to town." Adrian affirmed.

While they had been out there for a few days. The town was still around a 6 hour walk from where they were currently. If they were lucky they could get there before night fall.
