Carnage In Another World

Chapter 19 - New Armor

Adrian and Elain finally arrived at the gates of Faldor. As they approached, the setting sun was already over the horizon, as the illusory flames of twilight danced upon the clouds. Casting numeral hues and shadows across the night sky. Soon they passed through the gates of Faldor.

They parted ways soon after entering the city. Elain began heading home, while Adrian walked towards the guild hall.

"Hey Martin, how've you been?", Adrian called out as he approached the receptionist desk.

"I've been just fine, how can I help you," Martin replied.

"Just got back from a hunting trip, my friend." Adrian said as he removed the demon corpses from his inventory, "it was a good haul."

Martins eyes were wide as he looked over the mountain of corpses not smaller than the last time. "Did you kill all these yourself?" Martin asked incredulously.

"Of course not, Elain helped with most of them." Adrian answered with a laugh.

"I believe, that with a feat like this, you are qualified to advance to rank E." Martin said before passing him the freshly made rank E. I.D. card.

"Thank you, this is unexpected," Adrian said while scratching he head.

"Your total will come to 9850 pieces", Martin said as he passed him the money.

"Thank you," Adrian said, gladly accepting. [With this we each get 4925 pieces each] Adrian thought while reveling in his current riches, knowing that it would be short lived.

As Elain walked through the doors of her home, she immediately asked, "Jamie would your run a hot bath for me please?", as she was, rather smelly after camping in the woods for three days.

"Yes, I'll get it ready right way!" the maid, Jamie, said with a bow. Then, she rushed out of the room.

Elian walked up the staircase, heading towards her father's study. The door was cracked open, slightly. The light from a candle flickered softly, against the walls of the hallways.

Elain pushed open the door only to she her father asleep with his head down, on top of his folded arms. She nudged the door open lightly, and blew out the candle before shutting the door behind her.

Not long after Jamie came to inform her "Miss, your bath is ready now."

"Excellent!" she exclaimed, "lead the way."

"Yes", Jamie nodded, and lead Elain to the bathing room.

In his frenzy, Arthur went on a rampage through the forest. Killing every demon, unlucky enough to cross his path he was almost completely covered in viscera, and blood. A path of destruction laying both behind, and in front of him. Over the past few hours he had sunken ever deeper into his madness.

Now he stood amid the vast forest, completely exhausted. Panting, as he slowly slumped to the ground, he passed out from exhaustion.

The next morning, Adrian went to the armorer as soon as it was open. As he walked the isles looking at the armor on display, he was unable to make a decision.

Walking up to the counter he asked, "Do you have any enchanted armor?"

"Yes, my I see your identification please?" the woman behind the counter asked politely.

Adrian handed her his new rank E. demon hunter I.D. without hesitation.

Passing him back his I.D. she said "Come this way, sir," she then lead him to a wall near the back of the store.

"So many?" Adrian said in shock, "What light armors do you have, and their prices please?"

"We have four light armors that are enchanted, the rest of them are heavy armor." the woman stated, " the first one is 1300 pieces, and is enchanted with an ability that allows one to blend in easier in dark places. The second one we have is 1250, and is enchanted with the ability to make one lighter on their feet. The third is 1475, and is enchanted with the ability that grants the wearer increased durability. The fourth and final one is 1700, and has the ability increases one reaction time by a small amount." After she finished speaking she inhaled deeply, as she had said all that in one breath.

"I'll be taking the fourth one then," he said as a large smile appeared on his face. [This is exactly what I needed, I didn't think they would have something like. It is quite fortunate indeed.] he thought in glee.

The armor was black leather, with larger steel plates on the c.h.e.s.t, six smaller ones on the abdomen. The greaves of the armor were also black, with steel plates on the t.h.i.g.hs and shins. The gloves were black as well, they had small steel studs just below the knuckle, and a small steel plate on each knuckle. Not only did the enchantment fit his needs. The armor also fit his tastes, aesthetically.

Placing his newly acquired armor in his inventory, he passed 1800 pieces to the attendant. "There is another 100 pieces in there for your service."
