Carnage In Another World

Chapter 5 - 5: Demon hunting

Adrian and Elian were walking up and the river bed looking for clues to where the demon might have gone. since arriving at the here they have not scene hide or hair of the rumored beast. except for the occasional blood stain you would think a demon wasn't hiding nearby.

they had already been here around 30 minutes but still no sign this creature yet. he was starting to lose his patience as he was a very patient person to begin with.

[when is this damn demon going to show its ugly head] he complained to himself.

a loud screech could be heard echoing through the trees. as soon as he heard it he ran off in the direction the sound had come from. racing through the tree at the side of the river, he came to a small clearing. at the edge of the clearing by the tree line on the other side was the demon he had been hunting.

the monster in question was a hulking beast. standing at least 7 feet tall, and had the body of a weasel. its limbs were very similar to a lions with claws the size of eagle talons attached to each paw. the head of the beast was much like that of a pharana, just a dozen times larger. blood and flesh could be seen dripping and dangling from its massive jaws. soon the demon noticed Adrian and charged at him with speed expected of a large cat.

Adrian reacted immediately and opened his inventory to take out the sword Maggie had give him back in Thoma village. when he opened the interface the monster froze in its tracks. he tried to move but his feet were stuck in place, although he could still move his arms. unfortunately it seemed he could not walk around while the interface was open. he tried to throw his sword at the monster, only the moment it left his hand it froze in place hanging in the air. he grabbed his sword again, and gave it a swing, found it was able cut a single blade of grass by his feet. in fact they did not even move at all.

he ran to the left the moment he exited the interface and dodged the teeth of the crazed chimera. he opened the interface again and turned his body around before exiting once again. he kicked off the ground and lunged towards the side of the lion-fish, in an attempt to slice its hide.

the demon dodged the blow barely getting away with only a shallow cut on its side. the blow had only served to anger the beast, throwing it into a blood rage. it swiped at Adrian, with its large talon sized claws.

barely a second before the creature would had connected it powerful attack Adrian open the interface yet again stopping the demon in its tracts. he adjusted his body before placing the blade of his sword directly between the demons toes, before closing the prompt.

the demons strike collided with Adrian's sword, tearing into the flesh of its paw using its own striking force. blood dripped out of the wound and onto the trampled grass below. it realized a pained gurgle from with its throat, as it jumped away from the human before it.

Adrian's arm nearly went numb for blocking that strike, but it proved to be effective at least. he launched himself at the creature in front of him, aiming to pierce into the monsters side. this time the attack connected, and the sword plunged deeply into side of the demon.

as the beast felt a sharp pain in his side, it swatted at the human beside it send him flying. the lion fish screeched again as it had instinctively used its injured paws for its last attack.

Adrian landed hard on the ground, about 10 feet away. his shirt was torn and fresh blood dripped from the wound. getting back on his feet, Adrian noticed his sword was still stuck in the side of the demon, and blood was gushing out of the wound, no doubt he had struck I organ or two when he plunged his sword into the monsters side.

Now he had to figure out a way to retrieve his sword with getting him self killed. he opened the interface again and started to ponder on the subject. [this pause feature is indeed as helpful as I thought it would be], he had realized that if it were not for this feature he probably would not know how he died.

upon leaving the interface he dashed toward the demon, in an attempt to reclaim his sword. just as he arrived beside the creature it swung at him again, only this time he was ready for it. he opened the interface and ducked the blow before opening it again.

having missed it target the monster instead struck to sword ,that was still stuck in its side. a wave of excruciating pain washed it as the sword was ripped out by the impact. blood started gushing from the wound as the creature howled in pain. Adrian then, grabbed his sword and leapt backwards to avoid further retaliation.

then beast stumbled around for a few moments before it toppled over onto its side. the beast now longer had the strength the scream, or else I would have as the fall was no doubt painful. it laid there in an ever growing pool of its own blood and it slowly faded in and out of consciousness.

Adrian walked over to the creature cautiously, before impaling the beasts skull with his sword. the demon coughed up blood , and died shortly after from the trauma and blood loss.

<you killed a rank F. demon>

< you've gained 300 exp>

Adrian turned to Elian and asked" so how did I do?"

to which she replied" I was about to step in at first. that demon was a the very peak of rank F. almost equivalent to a rank E. but you seemed to have the situation handled."

"so not all rank F.'s are that strong, huh?"this question had been on his mind after seeing the other demon from before.

"no not usually but after seeing that fight you would probably make short work of other rank F.'s" she replied, still astounded by what she just saw. she did not think that boy in front of her would be this strong. "we should head back to the guild hall so you can officially join the demon hunters guild."

Adrian nodded his head, and then placed the corpse of the demon into his inventory. unexpectedly, the corpse took up 4 whole slots in his inventory.

back at the guild hall in Faldor, Adrian walked up to the counter. " martin I've killed the demon by the river." told the receptionist, while taking out the corpse and placing it on the flat wagon by the desk.

martin smacked the bell on the counter, calling for the large man from before to come and get the corpse. "good job young man, I didn't really think you had it in you." he said as he pulled out a camera" now hold still, and try to look cool, while I take this picture for your demon hunter I.D. also what is your full name?"

"Adrian Carter" he replied

before he could think there was a flash, the picture had already been taken. martin then handed him his new I.D.along with a sack of coins. " here is you reward kid, don't spend it all in one place?"
