Cherish Love

Chapter 52 - New Home, New Life (1)

ANNE ALEXANDRIA CHLOE's POV

We just returned from a very long flight and right now, we are heading to the Ramirez Mansion to visit my parents after our so called 'Honeymoon' trip to Paris, France or shall we say that, it's our once in a lifetime vacation where we can do whatever we want! It's like a vacation of two best friends who just want to have fun! Eh? Wait… Did I just say 'Best Friends'?

"Chloe, are you okay?" I was back in my senses when I suddenly heard Dylan's voice and when I turned to look at him, I saw him looking at me with so much worry in his eyes. W-what?

"O-of course. Why did you suddenly ask that?" I asked him while he's still looking at me silently beside me. By the way, guess who's driving the car, right now? Well, it's none other than---

"Because you've been staring outside of the window for a while now, Lady Chloe…" Isaiah suddenly said while still focused on driving that made Dylan turn to look at him as he furrowed his brows.

"Hey, I should be the one to say that." Dylan said while staring at Isaiah that made me just sigh. Seriously? I understand why he's acting overprotective when it comes to me sometimes but I still don't understand why Dylan's acting so strange every time he's with Isaiah.

"That's because you're so slow, La Flair." Isaiah said seriously that made Dylan even more irritated. Well, he looks really irritated right now.

"How dare you. For goodness sake, Isaiah. I'm already your master's husband." Dylan said as he took a deep breath to calm himself down before leaning on his seat once again.

"So what? My only master is Lady Chloe." Isaiah said seriously that made me took a deep sigh. Goodness… They're starting again.

"You…" Dylan said a bit irritated once again. My goodness… I took a deep breath first before I started to speak.

"You two… Please kindly stop fighting." I said while massaging my temple. My head is starting to hurt.

"And Isaiah… Please don't be like that towards Dylan. He's my husband now." I said as I continued what I'm saying that made him just nod.

"As you wish, Lady Chloe." Isaiah said sincerely while still focusing on driving. To be honest, I really don't know why these two are always like this...

"Well, I doubt that." I heard Dylan said sarcastically that made me took a deep breath before returning my attention to him once again.

"Stop it already, Dylan…" I said as calmly as possible that made him just took a deep breath before crossing his arms on his ċhėst.

"Are you really okay, Chloe?" Dylan asked once again but this time, he's looking at me with worry in his eyes. I just took a deep sigh once again before I started to speak.

"I already told you that I'm just fine, right? Why do you keep on asking me that? Is it because you're still not used to seeing me like this?" I asked though I think I already know the answer. It's because of what I did in the past though I'm starting to regret what I did back then… Because in the end, Christian just left me.

"Well, you can't blame." I heard Dylan suddenly said that brought me back in my senses.

"I know but you have to believe me because I have no intention of doing what I did in the past again." I honestly and seriously said while he's still looking at me straight in the eyes. Now, I finally realized how stupid I was back then. Yes, I loved Christian with all my heart but it doesn't make any sense on dying just because of one person who didn't even give me a chance to explain everything to him nor believe in my love towards him...

"I know and I believe in you, Chloe… Everyone knows that but still, you can't stop me from worrying about you." Dylan said while still seriously looking at me.

"You're my wife now, remember?" I heard Dylan seriously said while still looking at me that made me just nod. I must admit, Dylan's acting is really convincing to the point that he can make everyone believe that we really do have a relationship...or shall I say, we're really a married couple because to be honest, I might fall for it if I didn't know that Dylan was just acting. .

-----◆-----◆-----◆-----◆-----◆-----

We've already arrived in the Ramirez Mansion and we're now having lunch together with a very awkward atmosphere. I couldn't help myself but sigh. Like seriously, there's nothing unusual here because every time we ate together, there will always be an awkward atmosphere just like this.

"So now that you two are finally back. Let's now talk about where the two of you are going to stay…" Dad suddenly said as he wiped his mouth using the table napkin. Oh, that's right...

"About that, dad…" I politely said that made dad turn to look at me.

"What is it, Chloe?" Dad said in a very sternly voice.

"Ahm Dylan and I already talked about that and we decided to stay and live in their house, dad." I said as I took a glance at Dylan who's sitting beside me, and there, I saw him looking at me as well while gently smiling at me.

"To the 'La Flair Residence'?" Mom suddenly said that made Dylan and I nod our heads.

"Yes, mom…" I politely said. Well, honestly speaking… Dylan was the one who brought up this matter yesterday night because he couldn't leave his siblings alone and since, I'm already married to him, even though this is just a fake marriage but still, we're still married in the eyes of the public. I should start living with him just like what sister Lily did when she married my brother two years ago.

"Are you sure about this, Chloe?" I heard my dad asked seriously which made me just nod.

"Yes, dad…" I asked as I put down the knife and fork beside my plate.

"Fine. If that's what you want." I heard dad seriously said before he held his wine glass and took a sip on it. Thank goodness, dad already agreed with us without asking anymore questions.

"But dad, may I request something?" Brother Charles suddenly asked that made all of us look at him.

"What is it, Charles?" Dad said sternly that made me...nervous. Why? Well, I actually don't know why...

"Can Chloe bring Isaiah with them?" Brother Charles suddenly said that made all of us confused. Huh?

"Why? I find him useful so why should he go there as well?" Dad said so straightforwardly. I actually understand what dad was trying to say. After all, Isaiah is a very loyal and trustworthy guy who never goes back on his words. Come to think of it, it's also a waste if Isaiah didn't go with us.

"Because Isaiah is Chloe's bodyguard. He can also be their butler, right?" Brother Charles said as he turned to look at us that made dad frown.

"So you're saying that the 'La Flair' Family doesn't have enough people in their household?" Dad suddenly asked before he turned to look at us that made me shrivered. Oh no...

"T-that's not what I wanted to say, dad---" Brother Charles said as he was about to explain when Dylan suddenly spoke beside me.

"Unfortunately, you're right about that matter, father." Dylan suddenly said that shocked me. W-what did he just say?

"Right now, we only have few people working in our household." Dylan said while looking at my dad right now. He looks so calm and compose as if he doesn't care even if dad has been glaring at us right now. Seriously… How can you be so calm right now, Dylan?

"If that's the case then why do you still want Chloe to live there?" Dad asked while still glaring at Dylan. Oh no… W-what should we do now?

"I understand you, father but Chloe and I are already married and as a man, I should be the one to provide for my wife." I heard Dylan suddenly said when I suddenly felt Dylan hold my hand under the table that made me turn to look at him. His hands… He's trembling right now…

"But Chloe doesn't use to live in that kind of environment." I heard dad said once again as if he's degrading Dylan right now. Dylan...

"Alexis, stop it…" I heard my mom said that made dad smirk while still holding the glass of wine.

"I'm just being honest here, Christine. After all, we're already a family, right?" Dad simply said but why do I feel so irritated right now? I saw Dylan took a deep breath first and was about to speak when I suddenly spoke.

"Dad, please don't say that because I'm already aware of it." I said that made all of them turn to look at me including Dylan who's still holding my hand until now.

"What do you mean?" Dad asked that made me even more nervous. Calm down, Chloe… You have to calm down.

"Dad… I know that if I marry Dylan, the way I'm currently living my life until right now might change but I already accepted it… I'm already prepared for everything that we might face in the future together with him…" I said as I turned to look at Dylan who's still holding my hand while looking at me in shock. I just smiled at him and held his hand as well.

"That's why, please accept our decision, dad…" I said politely as I lowered my head.

"That's your life." Dad simply said but with full authority as he stood up and walked away from the dining table. D-did dad already accept it?

"Where are you going, Alexis?" I heard mom asked immediately as soon as dad stood up that made dad turn to look at mom.

"To the cellar to get some wine." Dad simply said before he continued walking away to our wine cellar. Wait, we have so many butlers in our house but why didn't dad just order someone to get it instead? Could it be that dad is really mad at us right now?

"Dylan…" Our attention was immediately returned when we heard mom called Dylan.

"Yes, mother?" Dylan asked while looking at mom.

"Please forgive your father-in-law for his rudeness. He really doesn't mean to hurt your feelings." Mom said as she apologized for dad's actions.

"That was nothing, mother. After all, what father had said was right. Our household cannot be compared to the 'Ramirez Household'..." Dylan said in a very low voice. I don't know why but I can feel a little bit of sadness in Dylan's voice. Dylan...

"Dylan… Do you want to know why your father suddenly asked you that?" Mom suddenly asked that immediately caught our attention. Huh? Is there a reason behind dad's rudeness?

"It's because Alexis doesn't want to let go of his precious daughter." Mom said as she continued what she was saying. Eh? D-dad, d-doesn't want me to go?

"Well, Alexis is the type of person who rarely shows his true feelings to other people but more than anyone else, I know when he is telling the truth or when he's just hiding his true feelings through his harsh words and actions." Mom said while slicing the beef meat on her plate.

"And based on what I saw just now, Alexis was just trying to convince you two to change your mind. After all, Chloe is our only daughter." Mom said as she turned to look at us while continuing what she was saying. I-is that really true?

"That's why I hope you'll understand him, Dylan." Mom said as she smiled at Dylan who's just simply sitting beside me. Wait, I can't still process it in my mind… Was dad really doesn't want me to go?

"Of course, mother. Thank you very much for accepting me in your family." I heard Dylan said as he slightly bowed his head that brought back my attention to them.

"We're very lucky to have you as our son-in-law, Dylan. Goodness, Alexis and I are so lucky to have you as our son-in-law and Lily as our daughter-in-law ~" Mom said so happily that made sister Lily smile so happily as well as Dylan.

"Thank you so much, mother. I'm also thankful to have you two as our mother-in-law and father-in-law and I'm sure that sister Lily also feels the same way." I couldn't help myself but smile while looking at my mom who's smiling at us with so much happiness in her eyes.

"Yes. Dylan's right, mother." Sister Lily said as she nodded her head immediately that made my mom even more happy. I'm happy to see my mom so happy like this but… I couldn't help myself but feel guilty as well. I couldn't stop myself from sighing. Mom, I'm sorry because everything that you're seeing right now is just an illusion, an act and I hope that in the future, you'll forgive us for deceiving each one of you....
