Child Of God

Chapter 22 - Meeting Her Crew

A couple of days had gone and Esdeath was standing the underground base HQ had. It was filled with warsh.i.p.s currently Because Three Vice Admirals were getting deployed on long-running missions.

"So have you seen our newest member?" Vice admiral Yamakaji said to his close friend and also Vice Admiral, Momonga. Both were experienced marines and very powerful Vice admirals.

"No, Sengoku has been keeping her on the down-low. Only Vice-admiral and higher knows about her yet. From what I do know, Sengoku wants to test the waters with her before he makes it official.

"That's cryptic. Gonna be interesting meeting her." Yamakaji said with a cigar hanging out from his mouth.

"Tell me about it."

"What do you wanna know boys?" Esdeath came up behind them with a wine glass in hand. She was smiling but both men had a hand on their weapons. Neither of them sensed her approaching from behind.

'She's good." Momonga made a mental note about her ability to conceal herself and her entire presence.

"So you're the new hotshot that directly met and even impressed those two old men," Yamakaji said and smiled.

"It was nothing much. We just had a friendly conversation." Esdeath said and shook both their hands.

They didn't believe for a second that she was here with this position because of a nice conversation. She must have seriously impressed Sengoku to get a tryout for Vice Admiral.

"I see. So can you share your assignment? Got anything more interesting then low-level pirate hunting or escorting?" Yamakaji asked while sulking, thinking about his own boring assignment.

"I got a two hundred million bounty to go chase. I think Sengoku wants to test my actual battle capabilities. A test doesn't tell him much does it." Esdeath waved a bounty poster in the air and smiled.

"I suppose it doesn't. So who you got?" Momonga asked while asking for the poster.

"No one really interesting or anything. Last seen on sabaody so I'm off to that place."

"Be careful over there. Most sightings and reports about that place are nothing at all, but rumours about some pretty powerful people having settled there still circulating around."

Momonga didn't elaborate but left the suspense in the air to itself. He watched the last of his crew board the ship and turned to his colleagues.

"Well my ship is all done so I will head off. I wish you both luck on your mission. And hope we get another permanent addition to our little group here. We do need a need Vice-admiral who can inspire us, old-timers."

Momonga waved goodbye to them both and walked over to his boat. Yamakaji did the same and now only Esdeath was left standing there.

'Guess it's time I met the crew.'

Esdeath knew her ship so she started her journey towards it. The underground port was filled with both people and equipment. But whoever she passed here, they would all salute because of the coat she had hanging over her shoulders.

Esdeath wore the same outfit that she summoned for Kurama and herself. She had just added the Vice-Admiral marine cloak over her shoulders to signify her status to other marines she met here or on missions.

All in all, she was absolutely gorgeous and most male and some female marines would stop and stare at a particular area on her that would not stop bouncing around as she walked. What made it worse for passing people was that her outfit was very tight as well.

Esdeath arrived at her own assigned warship and saw all the people running around on it in a hurry. When a crew gets assigned a Vice Admiral they are usually very nervous because being on a crew of a Vice Admiral is not the same as a Rear Admiral.

"Vice Admiral Esdeath! Welcome aboard."

A woman with long blonde cheery blossom pink hair said and saluted. She looked pretty young and she also wore a smile that radiated excitement.

"So you're the elite recruit Sengoku pulled out of the academy to be here. What's your name, girl?" Esdeath scanned her from head to toe.

"Hina, Ma'am! It is an honour to get to serve directly under a Vice Admiral. I am very excited." Hina said and tried to look official.

Esdeath's gaze was making her nervous and uncomfortable and that showed on her face. Esdeath hadn't responded so Hina was forced to keep the salute going and she was getting really nervous standing in front of a Vice Admiral.

Her friends in the class had told her about how Vice Admirals had an entirely different aura about them. And that they could suffocate you with their stare. You could say Hina just became a believer of that fact. She had never felt a presence like this. Not even from her instructors at the academy.

"At ease, little one. You look like a scared little puppy. Are we ready to set sail?"

Esdeath smiled so Hina would calm down a little bit. Because at this rate, she would faint within minutes of the ship taking off.

"Yes, Ma'am! We are ready."

"Then let's go. The destination is The Sabaody Archipelago's." Esdeath walked towards her room with Hina following behind her.

"Anything else Ma'am?"

"No, come fetch me when Sabaody is in sight." Esdeath the scared academy girl a tap on the shoulder and walked into her room and closed her door.

'So cool!' Hina said to herself while watching Esdeath's body disappear behind the door.
