Daily Life Of A Ponytail Girl

Chapter 23 - Final Results

The final challenge was about to end. Second hand of class 2-B's president and member of the Ethics Committee Yami Nashide was about to determine which of the teams should win.

"First I'm gonna try a taco of team Yūi." she announced as she waved her hand through her long gray-blue hair.

"I think you meant team Akan- oomph!"

Two pairs of hands quickly covered Akane's mouth before she could get her message across.

Yami stepped forward, and picked up one of the messy looking tacos, and took a bite. Following, her face went through several expressions quickly, starting with slightly weirded out, to a look of disgust, and finally to looking horrified and being scared.

"This feels. . . So thrown together. . . Some parts are burned while others are undercooked. . . In terms of vegetables. . . There's way too little of everything aside from this abundance of tomatoes. . . And this taste. . . Are you sure you four are not the bad guys?"

At each of Yami's words, Yūi jolted back like being stabbed by a knife.

"I. . . I think I'm gonna. . ."

Looking green in her face, Kami ran towards a nearby sink. To keep this poor girl's honor intact, we will not explain which interaction she engaged in with this sink.

Yaruki and Yūi, left behind, just stared at each other.

". . ."

". . ."

"You know, we'll settle for a draw if that means getting our classmates bac-"

"Yeah, no."

". . . Damn."

Yaruki clapped in her hands and made a soft smile.

"Too bad. Despite your diligent efforts, it seems that in the end, you failed to win."

"Fine then." Akane said as she stepped forward. "Seems like this can't be solved through these silly games anymore, so I'll just have to handle this the way I should have from the start." She stretched her right arm out forward while using her left hand to stretch the red strap she was wearing around her arm. "In name of the Ethics Committee, I hereby apprehend you for disturbing public morale."

Yaruki let out a short sigh as she stood up from the table she had been sitting on this whole time.

"Well, can't say I didn't expect you to play that card eventually. Do whatever you want to me, it won't bring your classmates back in time anyways."

As Yaruki made her way towards Akane, Yūi suddenly stepped in between them.

"Seems you're willing to go pretty far for this. What is driving you to do all this?"

Yaruki stayed silent for a bit. "Well, I suppose I did say something about giving you answers after the challenge."

Yaruki went back to her desk and sat down again, as Yūi stepped forward while making a thinking face.

"So. . . Why did you do this all?"

Yaruki crossed her black leggings clad legs.

"Well to explain this story. . . Let's bring you all a while back. All the way back to the last Taco Thursday before summer break."
