DBZ: Another One

Chapter 8 - Life on Earth

Several days after the whole Namek incident, everyone began to go on with their lives. The Sacred Dragon was used to recover the remains of Krillin and Goku. But it appeared that Vegeta was correct, Goku's remains did not appear, meaning that he must still be alive. Bulma was busy with some sort of science work in her home, when she heard her doorbell ring.

"I'm coming." she called out, "Just hang on a second." Bulma put down the little device that she was playing with and went over to her door. When she opened it, she was caught in surprise as Leek was standing before her. Her clothes were almost completely torn, and she looked really dirtied up, with mud and debris all over her. She didn't seem too reactive about it though, in fact she couldn't care less that her hair was all full of dirt. "Leek, what are you doing here? Why are you so messed up?"

"Well…" Leek replied, rubbing the back of her head, "Whilst I was out training, I realised that I had nowhere to live and rest. I've been spending the past few days in the wilderness. And since this is the only place I know of besides Goku's house, I decided to come here."

"Why here?" Bulma asked, "Why couldn't you ask Chi-Chi if you could stay? She would probably be happy to have another girl to talk to at home."

"If you want the truth…" Leek muttered, "Goku's wife is quite scary for an Earthling. I would probably get my head ripped off if I even thought about training there. I'm pretty sure that you have somewhere to train though, so that's another reason."

Bulma stared at her for a while, then began to burst out laughing. "You, the 'Strongest Saiyan', is afraid of an Earthling?" she chuckled, "That just made my day. Come on in, get yourself cleaned up and I'll find you a room."

Leek entered the building and followed Bulma. "So." she asked, "You become a Super Saiyan yet, or whatever it was?"

"Not yet." Leek replied, "But I'm getting there, I can feel it. It won't be long before I can do it. Then I'll make the Prince eat his words!"

"Oh?" Bulma said, "Looks like someone's found a rival. I hear that having a good rival is key to getting stronger."

"Maybe so." Leek responded, "Though our power difference is incredible. My power must have increased at least thirty times over from using my Zenkai." The two stopped outside of a metal door.

"Here's the shower." Bulma told Leek, "Just get in and I'll get you some spare clothes. Towels are beside the shower door."

"Thanks." Leek replied. She walked into the room. Meanwhile, Bulma left to retrieve some clothes. After about forty minutes, Leek was finally done cleaning herself up. As she got out, she could see a pile of clothes stacked on a counter. A pair of jeans and a loose shirt. One side of the shirt hung off of her shoulder, but didn't reveal anything. Her jeans also seemed to fit right, unlike her last pair. She took a look at herself in the mirror. "So this is Earthling fashion?" Leek commented, "Or is this just something for the time being?" Without much else to do, Leek exited the room where she was now alone in a long corridor. After walking along for about a minute or two, Leek came across two people. A couple of Earthlings who seemed friendly enough. One was a shrinking old man with a grey beard adorning his face. The other was an amiable woman who was probably only a few years younger than the old man, though her hair was blonde, not grey. They noticed Leek's presence.

"Hi!" the woman called out to her in a kind, motherly way, "Are you one of Bulma's friends? I haven't seen you around before, what is your name?"

"It's Leek." Leek replied, "I'm staying here with Bulma for a while. Are you her parents?"

"Yes." the woman answered, "I'm Bulma's mother, and this man right here is my husband and Bulma's father. You can just call me Mrs Brief though, Leek."

"Ok." Leek replied, "Thank you for letting me stay here, Mrs Brief."

"Oh it's no problem." Mrs Brief responded, smiling away, "It's rare that Bulma ever brings round girl friends. It's normally always Goku, and little Gohan. Can I get you something to drink?"

"Yes." Leek replied, "Do you have any of that 'cola' that I've heard about?"

"We have plenty of it." Mrs Brief answered, "Just come this way."

And so, Leek's life at the B.r.i.e.f.s' house had begun. She drank with Bulma's parents and told them a little about herself. She was being careful to not mention her past, in case they got worried about her intentions. She did however, tell them of great battles that she had with warriors from all over the universe. They were amazed by how strong Leek was and wanted to hear more. All that the B.r.i.e.f.s knew, was that Leek was an exceptionally strong Saiyan that was living on Earth. The next day came very quickly.

Leek was in a bed, in a spare room. She woke up somewhat tired, and looked around for something decent to wear. What she found was the jeans that she had worn yesterday, along with a much more fitting top. Leek went to find Bulma after leaving her new bedroom, and saw her near the entrance. She looked like she was about to go somewhere.

"Where are you off to?" Leek asked. Bulma noticed her and turned around.

"I'm off to Roshi's place." she replied, "I'm going to check on him and see how he's doing. Want to come with?"

"Who's Roshi?" Leek questioned, "Is he another fighter that I haven't met?"

"Roshi is the master of the Turtle School of martial arts." Bulma told her, "He taught Goku and Krillin when they were kids. Just be warned, don't let him get too close, you'll regret it if you do."

"I'll go with." Leek responded, "I want to know how Goku was trained, it might help me."

The two went to Bulma's plane and soon took off. It took only a few minutes to reach their destination, a small house on a tiny island. The whole area looked very tranquil and quiet. When they landed, they were greeted by a small old man. He had a bald head and a long beard, with a pair of sunglasses on. He was wearing some casual clothes, a vest and shorts. There was also a giant turtle shell on his back. The man looked surprised when he saw Leek, and even more surprised by her tail.

"Oh, Bulma, hello." he greeted, "Who's your pretty friend?"

"That's Leek." Bulma replied, "A Saiyan who's helped us a lot lately."

The man lowered his glasses a bit, revealing two, peering eyes that were set on Leek. "My." he said, "I didn't know that the Saiyans kept such beauties in their ranks-" Leek raised her hand at him and pointed at his forehead.

"Wanna die, old man?" she asked, slightly irritated. The man backed off quickly.

"You're a feisty one, ain't ya?" he chuckled, "I like 'em feisty."

"Bulma, are you sure that this is the supposed master of the Turtle School?" Leek questioned, "He just seems like a old pervert to me. His power isn't even high. It's lower than Krillin's."

"As much as I hate to admit it, this is Master Roshi." Bulma replied with a sigh, "He may be a master of martial arts, but he's just a dirty old man through and through."

"In that case…" Leek said, turning to Roshi, "I'd like to ask for your training. I want to know just how Goku got so strong. But I swear that if you mess me about, there won't even be a body to bury."

"Right." Roshi answered, "You seem very strong. I will train you in the way of the Turtle School. Use it to your advantage, and defend this planet." Leek nodded her head. She began her training on Roshi's island, with one thing on her mind. She would become a Super Saiyan, no matter how much work it took. She had to surpass Goku if she wanted to continue in his place.
