DBZ: Another One

Chapter 9 - Leek's History

In the Age 735, there stood an entire world of born warriors. These warriors were ferocious in combat, and only grew stronger when beaten down. These warriors were the Saiyans. They lived on Planet Vegeta, a world which served as a new home since the destruction of their original planet. A great war took place between the Saiyans and the planet's original inhabitants, the Tuffles. The Tuffles had science and technology on their side, but in the end, they could not withstand the primal ferocity of the Saiyans. The planet was captured and renamed Planet Vegeta, after the Saiyan King. Five years after this war was when our heroine was born. The Saiyan Leek.

When Leek was first born, her power level was listed as being five-hundred. She was proclaimed as a mid-class warrior, as as she grew up, she was treated as such. At the age of one year old, Leek was able to float around almost perfectly, and a month later, she could fly. By this time, her power level was estimated to be around two-thousand, already surpassing all of the low-class Saiyans. When she reached the age of one and a half, Leek had trained for quite some time, and could accurately fire energy blasts at targets. She had an accuracy rating of 90%, and her power had doubled in that time. It was finally decided that she would go on a mission. The small Leek was sent to a rather big planet that was full of resources that would be needed for the Saiyans.

When she had arrived, Leek did not start her mission. Instead she wandered aimlessly, until she reached a town of the planet's inhabitants; a race of small blue aliens. These aliens were quite war-like in nature, and did not take kindly to a stranger appearing, even if that stranger was just a child. They started the fight, and Leek ended it within seconds. The entire town was nothing but smoke and ash in a mere minute. On this same world, Leek first tapped into the power of the Oozaru. Whilst in the form of this gigantic ape, she travelled the planet and crushed all resistance to her mission. Within five minutes of transforming, Leek had gained almost complete control over her form. The entire planet was wiped clean in a month or two. Leek had accomplished her mission, and so she returned to Planet Vegeta with high praise from her mother.

The years went by, Leek had taken planet after planet in the name of the Saiyan race. By this point, she was four years old. Her power level had reached a staggering forty thousand, and she impressed her peers. Some even believed that she could be the legendary Super Saiyan of old. When Leek was out on another mission, she took her time with the planet that she was on. The world was overtaken in several months because of this, when she could of ended it in days. On her way back to her home, something felt off. She could not detect the presence of any other Saiyans. When she reached Planet Vegeta, she found that there was no Planet Vegeta left to return to. There was only debris and rocks floating about in space. At first, Leek had assumed that a disaster took place and destroyed the planet. But she could sense a dark energy coming from where the planet was. She knew that it was the work of a person, but she did not know who.

For months, the little Leek travelled through space. She kept travelling until she reached a strange ship. It was a large, silver cuboid that floated along. A gamma insignia could be seen painted across the side of its hull. She attempted to make contact with it, and found herself being dragged in by some sort of tractor beam. When inside, Leek could see that the interior matched the exterior. Silver walls, silver floors, and even silver lighting. Standing around her ship was multiple aliens of all different origins. They wore battle suits like the Saiyans did, but they were more uniform than theirs. Each suit was a black under-armor with a white armour on the c.h.e.s.t. They also didn't appear to have scouters, so they couldn't have measured Leek's strength.

Eventually, one stepped out. He was a bulky red alien with a mean face. From the way that the others bowed, he must have been their superior. "Come out." he ordered, "Slowly." The door to Leek's ship opened and she stepped out of it. The aliens seemed to recognise her by her tail, which swished about and wrapped around her waist. "You're a Saiyan, are you not?"

"Yeah, that's right." Leek replied, "And I'm not in the best mood, so be careful about what you say."

"I heard that Planet Vegeta was wiped out entirely." the alien commented, "Looks like some of you are still alive. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I just want you to listen to my offer."

"What would that be?" Leek asked impatiently, "I don't have all day."

"You're strong." the alien answered, "Despite being so young for a Saiyan, you're stronger than a lot of my men. I want to invite you to join the Gamma Force. We're a mercenary band who does major jobs out in space. My name is Zarya."

"What would I get from this?" Leek asked, "It's not like I'm obligated to join you."

"You would have a place to stay." Zarya responded, "Whatever you earn in your jobs is yours to keep. We can also teach you some skills that will be useful for any fighter. You're not obligated to join us, but I would recommend it for your benefit. Hell, I'll even let you be a lieutenant."

"First of all." Leek questioned, "Do you have any information on Planet Vegeta's destruction? I'm gonna rip the head off the bastard who destroyed it."

"Not at this moment." Zarya said, "But you may find some information when you're out on missions. You're free to do as you please."

"Hmm…" Leek thought, "Fine, I'll give this a shot. But if I don't like it, I'm leaving."

"Of course." Zarya replied, "Then let me be the first to welcome you to the Gamma Force, Miss..."

"My name is Leek." Leek finished, "Don't get in my way, and we won't have a problem." With that, Leek's new life began with the Gamma Force. They operated very much like the Saiyans did, so she had no trouble adapting.

Years went by, and Leek completed many missions for the Gamma Force. They were practically like family for her. On her twenty-first birthday, Leek was given a very interesting mission. She was to travel to an unknown planet, and find the source of a massive energy reading there. Leek went without question, hoping to find a strong warrior there. She set off, and arrived at a barren planet. The energy that she sensed was amazingly strong, and she was able to trace it back to a large abandoned temple on the planet. There she found a strange surprise.

Hidden away inside the temple was a small basket. Inside this basket was a small baby, only recently born. Leek was very confused at the sight of the sleeping baby, and drew in closer. She found that the baby was a girl, and was the source of the amazing power. At first, she didn't want to believe it, but there it was in front of her. After investigating the basket a bit more, Leek found a small inscription on the wall of the basket, written in the language of the Saiyans. 'Kale' was what it said.

"So your name is Kale?" Leek asked, looking at the Saiyan baby before her. She picked up Kale and took a good look at her. Unlike other Saiyans, she didn't have a tail. "Now how are you so strong? Huh?" Leek held Kale close, like a mother would. "I can't just leave another Saiyan here. Tell you what, you'll come with me and I'll help you, okay?" Kale remained asleep as Leek held her, and she walked off. "Not a very loud Saiyan. Most are screaming their heads off when they're this young."

Leek got in her ship and made it back to the Gamma Force to report. Zarya was amazed that a mere baby could have so much power. "So, what do we plan to do with her?" Leek questioned, "If you have no plans, then I have an idea."

"Let me hear it." Zarya requested, "You know more about Saiyans, so you handle it."

"Alright." Leek replied, "From this moment onwards, I'll be little Kale's mother. We Saiyans are few, and it might be the case that we are the last ones. With this much power, and my guidance, Kale will grow up to be even stronger than me."

"So be it." Zarya responded with a sigh, "You've always done your own thing, why should I stop you now? I'm putting you in charge of Kale."

And so Leek's job of looking after the baby began. Every day, she would diligently feed her and keep her entertained. Her growth was pretty amazing as well. In only half a year, Kale could fly around the room and even speak to some extent. It reminded Leek of herself as she grew up. The biggest problem with Kale was when she pulled a temper tantrum. She would coat herself in a white aura and start smacking into things, Leek had to use some of her own power just to stop her. For six years, it continued like that, until Leek was finally given the mission of going to Earth. Her job was a contract to take the planet, which had very hospitable conditions for a base. Kale was old enough to take care of herself, and she had the crew of the Gamma Force to help her whilst Leek was away. That is where our story begins.
