DESTINY: The Eyes Of A Hunter A Guardian's View

Chapter 6 - The Last Array: Last Mission In The Cosmodrome!

"Silvia."

Stopping midway of opening my hatch, I turned my head towards Ghost and tilted my head. The tone of his voice was sorta down like he's been quiet about something. He came around my face but something told me to close my hatch while my ship was off. "What is it Ghost? You okay?" I asked. He didn't say anything. He would just stare at me and I stared back. "Are you okay? You've been quite the whole way here." I spoke softly but what amused me is he shot a beam at my forehead. At first, it tickled but it startled me.

Then it happened.

Every last memory I thought I lost, I regained. My eyes stared off in the distance as I saw my life played through within my eyes. The times I've worked with Petra on multiple missions, I came across the Hive before: Thralls, Acolyte, Knights, and Wizards; I fought them before, but it's been so long since I have seen these flesh-eating fools. However, what shocked me the most, the darkness didn't kill me. I was killed. I was filled with jealousy and hate. But I do not know who. The darkness happened after I died but whomever; so much has happened to me, I wondered why I lasted long as I did.

"I'm sorry, Silvia. I should have told you sooner. I'm not even supposed to do that but as a friend, I also don't like to lie."

I sighed and held both my hands out to bring Ghost close to me. I kissed the cube thing and chuckle. "Thank you, my friend," I paused. Maybe it is my destiny for me to protect. I did for the Reef's people. Why can't I do it now? To me, this is my second life and I can make my own decisions. Right now, I am. "Ghost. I will promise this...I will protect the city and the people. How will I? I don't know. If I can protect my Reef. I can protect the Earth."

Ghost eye was brighter than my eyes and I feel some type of way but it did make me happy. "I still dislike the Traveler. Anyways, let's go see Vanguard."

He nodded in understanding as I open the hatch and jump high just to land on the ground next to my ship. I yawned knowing I need a nap. I can feel my tummy rumble once again. I walked around to see the different Guardians. They were either fixing their ship or talking about repairing them. Walking towards the steps I happened to see Amanda playing cards with Cayde. I waved at them and they wave back. Walking out of the Hangar of the West wing I kept to myself. Guardians nodded in respect and returned the favor.

"Silvia."

"Guardian."

I slowed my walking down because I the few days I was getting judged for every little thing. I don't think I should trust this but I do go along with this. Stepping out of the hangar I yawn again.

"Silvia!" I jumped as I heard my name being yelled at. Why is my name being yelled at? But I get greeted with a hug and it was tight. Why? Why am I being touched? "You're back! You're alive!" That voice. Once they've pulled back I felt my stomach come to my c.h.e.s.t.

"Karina?" I asked before I got hugged again. Ghost was confused but I couldn't help but hug her just as tightly like I did not want to go. A friend and a sister from home. Just to see her again is almost better than coming back to life. I could say we're twins but her eyes are yellow and with red hair. I smiled as I pulled her back and examined her. She had a scratch under the right eye though.

"Why are you-"

"Well...I left the reef..." Her voice dropped and looked down. My throat began to close up. I don't like where this is leading up too. I'm afraid to ask and Ghost is looking at me because my skin turned pale matching the moon. She looked at me and eyes grew dark and sad. What has she seen? "The Reef has collapsed. As you know the Reef...is torn. Wreckage of sh.i.p.s after the Golden Age. But the war..." I couldn't talk. I walked passed her but she grabbed my hand. I turned around.

"If you're only going to tell me bad news, I don't want to hear it!" I shouted as my grip became tighter. I don't want to hear it. I don't think I could bear the fact that my hometown was troubled and I wasn't there. "Karina Rose don't you dare say it and I mean it." I let her go before turning around and stepping down the rest of the steps.

"Before you go and see the damage, you're not welcome there. Or anyone in that matter. That is from the Queen."

She stood at the steps but I was already towards the Post office that sat in the middle of the Tower. I kept saying to myself to not believe it over and over again. I looked again and she was already gone. Karina, what did you witness for the Queen to become cold? What happened to our home? Is that why you have a scar under your left eye? I can feel my c.h.e.s.t tighten to the point I'm heaving and slid in a corner so no one could see me. Ghost came around and nudged my face, I knew he was concerned and I tapped it. It did make me feel better. Trying to catch my breath as I got myself up. Ghost kept nudging my face to the point I chuckled.

"I'm okay Ghost. Thank you" I tapped on him as I closed my eyes telling myself it's okay. I opened them and continued my way until I heard my name again but it was robotic. It wasn't Cayde or Banshee so it had to be the Postmark. I turned the corner and raised my eyebrow.

"Ms. Rose you have a package from the Vanguard." The feminine robot gave me a box that had my name and the Vanguard logo. Um okay. Leaving it on the counter. I reached down to grab my knife and carefully cut the tape just to put it back. Why is this box so huge?! Grunting, I looked back and no one was there, I opened it and was amazed to see four things. Glimmer cards and 3 engrams. Now I remembered about engrams; engrams are a unique, "pure" state of matter, the form solid matter takes when physically encrypted. First successfully generated by Willa Bray, Clovis Bray proceeded to head the field of engram research and application. Engrams were often used to store information, such as manuscripts or research. They were known to degrade over time. Engrams dating from the Golden Age were normally mostly illegible. Glad my knowledge and my memories have been restored.

"Thank you. Can you dispose of the box please?"

"Yes, and you're welcome!"

I smiled as I looked at the Glimmer cards and I held them up for Ghost to scan them just for me to walked over to Rahool and he smirked. He makes me so uncomfortable for no reason.

"Look what the cat dragged in. Ms. Rose. What can I do for the pretty Awoken?" He eyed me and I was just about to reach down for my knife but luckily Ghost came in between us and spoke for me.

"Can you decrypt this, please? So we can get going." Rahool looked at me like I offended him. He shook his head and took the engrams from my hands. Once he did I turned around and quickly walked away. "Be back in 5 minutes." He's scoffed but I was already at the table. Zavala seemed busy so I looked at Ikora and smiled.

"You gathered more information than most of the Guardians here. We've been looking for Rasputin for many many years. So our gratitude we gave you some items." She spoke and bowed her head as she held her hands in the back and stood up tall. I looked over at Cayde. He seems bored but he's also studying a map. Cayde what are you doing? At this point, I don't question it anymore.

"And how much is each card? A girl got to eat." I was just being honest. She chuckled lowly and shrugged.

"The green is 20,000. The Red is 15,000. The blue is 10,000. We do replenish them if we see fit. So far, you did well. Since Zavala is busy, I shall give you your next mission. Go to the Array which is on the outskirts of the Skywatch. Track down codes to raise an ancient Array and connect it to long-lost colonies throughout the solar system."

I nodded as I turned away before I could step up, Cayde spoke. "Guardian, don't you fail me," he spoke so softly and told me to come near him. He whispered, "Please take me with you. I don't want to be here." I laughed softly.

"I wish I could." I moved back and winked. He sighed and he yawned. I turned back around and walked up the steps but before I knew it I was already on my ship.

"What about my engrams?!"

"Sil I move fast. You have new boots and a helmet. Suits your style. You also have a fusion rifle. I think arc."

I smiled. Now to come to think of, there is three class. Solar, Arc, and Void. Each class represents something deeply. I had two. The arc and the sun. All these memories are coming back and I feel sad and warm at the same time. Those Captains I have seen they have shields to protect them with those same class. I want to cry but I can't. Probably because I accepted my fate and I made a vow. I can't show weakness or I will fail myself. But I still can't get Karina's statement out my head. 'You're considered an outsider.' If something could rip my heart out, that definitely would do it. I sighed as I rubbed my face with both hands.

"There are reports a team of Guardians went dark near the old Skywatch. They were running a mission for Dead Orbit, had codes to a hidden array that could reconnect us to other colonies in the system. If we can find their Ghosts, maybe we can open that array."

"Thank you, Ghost." I manage to say. "Replace my gear, I shall head the skywatch...again."

---

I sighed as I was already in the yard of the old Skywatch. Watching the Hive and Fallen attacking each other I watched the Other Guardians running around trying to defend themselves and protect the area. It's hard and saddening. They could be with families and spending time with anyone really, but here we are; trying to defend the light that might be taken away from us once again. I guess there's that little bit of faith in all of us including me. I don't want the darkness to come again. I just shake this feeling deep down in my bones that it might be sooner than we all think. With that being said, I can't get what Karina had said to me. Traveler, what did you do? Why am I banned to go back home? Why is the Queen not allowing me back to her side? I wonder...if the Queen was the cause of my death? Did she turn on me?

"The Ghosts are still here! The Fallen have them." Ghost has been speaking to me but I haven't been hearing him. I have just been lost in my thoughts and shooting. Because what Karina said really threw me in a loop. It's bothering me but I shouldn't let it. I sighed again as I looked up not knowing where the hell I was.

"Ghost, where are we? Before you ask me if I was listening, the answer is no." I tried to smile but he already head-butted my forehead. I think that was supposed to be a flick but I reached up and rubbed it as I pouted. "Sorry Biscuit." I flicked him.

"Well, you did good killing the enemies but to let you know, I got the codes and we are already here at the Terrestrial Complex. To your left is the controls. Which I will be over there. You sure you're okay?" He asked and he could probably see that I'm tired. Mentally tired at that.

"I could say yes. I could say no. I would be lying if I said I was okay so no. I'm not okay." I shrugged. I looked down at my gun. I don't think I can fight. I don't even think I can follow my vow. This is too much for me. Too much for anyone to be honest. It's terrifying very terrifying.

"Okay, negotiating cryptosystems. Shor-resistant security lattice verified. It's working! Outside, the Array! It's opening! It's...Amazing and it's activating." Being in my thoughts I didn't pay attention. But I felt something behind me. Whatever was behind me smelled like death.

The Hive.

And this giant knight has a sword. A huge one and I don't like this. As soon as it swung I ducked down to the point I dropped and rolled over. A fusion rifle was pointed up and I fired a shot and he broke into pieces. I just missed that sword.

"Biscuit... why is there Hive here? And there's more than enough for one person."

"Uhh. Good question."

A question that doesn't answer my question. Hive is part of the moon. For them to be on Earth means that something is controlling them and they're pulling them down to Earth. Great. Anyways, I'm switching back and forth through weapons and trying to protect myself from Thralls and knights swing swords. Headshots aren't even helping because they're taking bullets like they're being tickled.

"Silvia go back to the ship!" I was being blocked and I didn't know who it was. Even the voice was a bit muffled. I looked up and it was a Titan because of the broad shoulders and the puffed-up armor. "Don't make me turn around and shoot you in the leg for you to wake up."

"Karina? Why are you here?!" Her voice was calm but firmed but honestly why is she here and why did she pop up just to tell me to go?

"Queen awaits you."

"Silvia let's go." Ghost came by me and I tried to grab her but I was already on the ship. I tried to open my hatch but it won't open.

"Karina don't do this!" My dashboard came on and it was her. "Sis, what are you doing?"

"Time for you to be a Guardian that you once were." As soon as she said that, my ship was alive and already in the air. My heart was beating fast and I was beginning to have a headache. But something seems wrong very wrong.

What the hell is going on?!
