Dream Life

Episode XXI: Acceptance Announcement

August 10.

Today is the day of the announcement of the acceptance of the Tilia School of Magic.

The announcement will be made at 9: 00 a.m., which means we were headed to the college at that time as we wiped the sweat in the midsummer sun shining in the morning.

Upon entering the Old Town, a large number of children, like students, are taken by an accompanying adult to walk towards the College.

As we approached the College, its numbers gradually increased, and queues were already in place in front of the College gate. I suggest putting it back on too many people.

"Isn't this too many people to see? Shouldn't we kill time somewhere and then go check it out?

When I say that, Liddy says, "Right. Anyway, I'm passing," he says, agreeing with me. But Sharon leans down with an anxious face.

Apparently, the test results are anxious and I want to know the results quickly, but it's hard to argue with me, shut up.

I look anxious. Pong and hands on Sharon's head,

"Is Sharon worried? Well, it's crowded, but we should go check it out first."

She shook her head sideways small and said, "It's okay. You can do it later," he replied in a whisper.

I laughed bitterly and said to Liddy and Guy, "Looks like we should check the results first," and lined up behind the queue.

I've hated queuing since my last life. It just seemed like a waste of time, and from those few experiences, because it was hardly worth queuing.

In about an hour this time, the number of students will be reduced, and the results will not change now or later, so I don't think I need to bother to line up. But if you look at Sharon's anxious face, it's pathetic to kill time leaving him feeling anxious for an hour, and first of all, if Sharon can't enjoy it, we won't either.

Liddy nodded, feeling like she had no choice, and the four of us lined up behind the queue and headed to the bulletin board where the passer's name was sticking out.

The bulletin board is in front of the school building, hanging about twenty minutes and slowly approaching. Thirty minutes later, we finally reached a distance where the letters could be read.

There were things around me that I was happy to gut pose, things that I was hugging and crying out to my parents, and I was remembering the announcement of my college entrance exam.

(This is what you call an acceptance announcement in every world. I can check online these days, so maybe not, but this is what our time was like. Well, in my case, I took the exam to be sure, so I didn't even go to see it...)

Then stand in front of the bulletin board and look up slowly.

The bulletin board was quite large, about three meters high and five meters wide, and there was an exam number and name on it.

As I was looking for my name, Liddy told me in a bright voice, "There it is," pointing her finger.

As good an eye as ever, I looked at her finger pointing, at the left edge of the bulletin board, and at the top of it was my name.

"I knew you were the best. Sharon wrote it underneath, so you and I can have the chief and the second seat."

Like she said, it says "number one" before my name, and apparently, it appears in order of grades.

(Chief? If you let Liddy tell you, I know it's natural, but don't take it personally as a surprise. Well, you think so because I've never been at the top of my life)

A good look at the bulletin board showed the ranking from first place to fortieth place, and the other one hundred and sixty people were posted in order of exam number.

There are two hundred successful candidates for the Tilia School of Magic. That can be divided into one class for forty people, that is, one to five groups.

Of these, only one group will be an elite class where the top forty grades of the academic year can be collected, and two to five groups will be randomly divided into forty-first to two-hundredth places.

It was said that one group or other at graduation would change appraisals significantly after graduation, and some of the successful candidates were not allowed within forty places to weep.

However, from now on, there is a system with ample chance of reversal. Because class changes take place in the same way every time you advance, you can't be relieved that you were in a group, and conversely, if you put two or fewer groups within forty places in the overall grade of the school year, you can go up to one group.

Sharon was stunned by the fact that his name was written second with an expression he said was incredible. Guy is shaking his head firmly that he cannot believe that his own daughter passed in the second seat of the School of Magic, an elite school.

"Congratulations, Sharon. Now you're eligible for an exemption."

When I said that, Sharon panicked and said, "Congratulations on passing in chief," and bowed his head.

Did you hear that word, or did you hear a whisper from around you saying, "Is he the chief?”

I got uncomfortable, said, "I could confirm it, and I'll go check on the admission process," and decided to leave the place.

Inside the school building there was an explanatory venue for successful candidates, with about twenty officials providing individual explanations.

Fewer people than the place where the acceptance announcement was made, but still all the explanatory seats were filled, and about ten more qualified people and their parents were waiting to be briefed.

We'll be in that line, and we'll be in the explanatory seat long enough.

The explainer's staff were young female staff, with thin booklets like signs of admission and documents for the admission process.

The woman realized that me and Sharon were together, and she said, "Are you sure you two want to explain this together?," he asked.

When Liddy replied, "So do me a favor," the female employee slowly bowed her head,

"My name is Colin O'Connell. Congratulations on passing this time. We will now confirm the exam number, name and orb…"

After me and Sharon say the exam number and name, I'll show you the orb.

Ms O'Connell was turning the paperwork at hand, but suddenly, the movement stopped. Apparently, he realized he was the chief and second seat passer, staring us in the face and hearing "You're Mr. Zacharias Lockhart and Mr. Sharon Jakes," with a slightly faint voice.

When we say yes, she immediately regains her calm, says, "Now let me explain the admission process," opens the booklet and starts explaining.

Ms O'Connell felt like she had said a serious clerk, did not talk in vain and explained the procedure regarding admission.

"The admission ceremony is September 1st. If you wish to enter the dormitory, you will be admitted by the day before...... enrollment fee and tuition fee, but since you two are exempt from enrollment fee, tuition fee only......"

To summarise her explanation, admission shall be processed by September 1 and, if entering the dorm, by August 15, and into the dorm by the previous day. Enrollment fees are not required and tuition shall be paid at a monthly rate of C (krona) = 100,000 yen. Tuition can be paid annually, but there is no discount, etc.

When Liddy said, "We can't both go into the dorm. I'll pay for tuition annually," he said.

"Okay. Then bring it to the college by August 15th. If you are late, you will be revoked, so please be careful."

And a detailed explanation follows.

"Textbooks will be included in the tuition, so they will be distributed when you pay tuition. Writing equipment and the like need to be prepared independently...... college student uniforms and capes, but Mr. Lockhart is all attributes, so you can choose your favorite color. Mr. Jakes is a dual attribute of fire and wind, so choose between red or water."

Students at the Tilia School of Magic should wear uniforms and capes of the colours of each attribute.

The colors are red for fire, white for light, water for wind, green for trees, blue for water, black for darkness, brown for soil and yellow for gold. Those with more than two attributes of aptitude may choose their favorite color from among their attributes.

When I'm worried, Ms O'Connell grins and adds an explanation.

"Nothing will change with the color of your uniform. You can choose your favorite color because it doesn't particularly affect your classes to the point where you know your best attributes at a glance."

(Black is fine, but the dark attributes have a strong image of the Demon Clan. Dirt resistant brown or red… I feel like a poor way to decide…)

When I'm thinking about that, Sharon decides on the wind attribute, "Please use a water color".

(Wind attribute? You're a good attribute for Sharon, and that's a reasonable place. That being said, Liddy also said he was best at wind attributes, and I'm best at wind attributes, make it water color... uniforms are accommodating anyway, so I don't need to buy extra... oh, I knew you'd think about the smell of poverty...)

I chose the water color of the wind attribute after mocking myself in my heart.

The men's uniform at this college is a tonal vest on black long trousers and shirts of each attribute color. This required the wearing of a cape with a short attribute color - about the length of the waist. By the way, women are skirting instead of long pants.

Uniforms and capes are to be purchased at college-designated clothing stores, which will cost nearly 100C in one set. Later I heard that this is still quite cheap because of the aid from the Mage Guild.

"That concludes the process itself, but Mr. Lockhart is the chief, so thank you for greeting me as a freshman delegate at the admissions ceremony"

I was like, "Am I the greeting?" I asked back.

(I didn't hear that from Liddy. I'm sure you kept your mouth shut because it's funny. That's fine, it's actually a hassle. If you have a greeting, just read it, but it's troublesome when it comes to making your own)

"Have you decided on a greeting?

"No, every year, the chief freshman thinks for himself," Ms O'Connell smiled back.

When I shut up, I said, "Now I'm done explaining, do you have any questions?," he said, trying to end the explanation.

I don't think I heard about the Sorcerer's Guild orb.

"I heard you could get an Orb of Mage Guild with enrollment, when would you get it?

Ms O'Connell held her mouth so tight that she apologized, "I'm sorry,"

"I would when explaining the enrollment fee, but I was oblivious by saying exemption. In the case of Mr. Lockhart and Mr. Jakes, it will be made when tuition is paid."

Apparently, the orb bill is included in the enrollment fee.

Sharon then asks some questions, but the explanation ended without anything in particular.

After I left the briefing room, I spoke to Guy.

"Sharon passed in the next seat. You'll have no problem getting into school."

Guy nods, "Yes," and bows his head, "I apologize for the inconvenience to Master Zach, thank you very much," he says. Sharon panicked and bowed her head in the same way she said "thank you".

I said to Guy, "I don't think Sharon will bother you, but I'll take care of it," and I said to Sharon, "It's nice to meet you," and I put my hand on Pong and her shoulder.

And I said to Liddy, "I'll pay the tuition today, okay?" She asked, "She seemed to intend to, too," I brought it right. Sharon's share will be fine, "he said, smiling and slapping his hip pouch.

I was going to pay tuition and other things by the end of the day to get things done and bring the money my grandfather and my parents gave me.

After paying tuition, receiving textbooks, etc., create an orb of magicians.

After it had been done in about thirty minutes, I immediately checked Sharon's level, almost as Liddy expected, with the wind attribute at level seventeen and the fire attribute at level ten, already at a graduate-like level.

(Exactly because I've been training since I was about four and I've been doing it in action. Besides, the normal magician's training seems to just feel magical or manipulate in the body for a year or so starting at the age of seven, and compared to that, I learned magic at an unusually fast pace...)

He wore a brand new sorcerer's orb and went to the old town to buy uniforms, writing equipment, etc.

―――――

Rio Nell Raspade had come to the production room of the sorcerer's orb.

He was smiling when he saw Zach and the others' record when they made the orb.

(It still looks like I made it today. Still, Lockhart, are you level twenty-four, Jakes, level seventeen? As far as I can tell, isn't enrollment at the best level? Sure, the young teaching class should have been about level twenty. I didn't know it was only ten years old and unplugged... I'm really happy)

I look at Zach's record even more and I fucking laugh.

(Exactly. Dark attributes are low. However, given the level of the wind attribute, it soon exceeds twenty. Raise the level of all attributes and you can be my good assistant. Now, how do you draw me into my assistant...)

As he left the room with a smile on his face, the official there was staring at his back with the kind of eyes that looked at the freak. And I was sympathetic in my heart to an unfortunate student who had his eyes on him.
