Everlasting System: Changing Stories

"Let's break the engagement." She deadpanned after hearing his explanation. Apparently her mother decided that she was to settle down with a boy who could protect her. Her first thought in that statement was if she was supposed to protect him and not him protecting her. He looked so... Weak.

"Are you sure you're not here begging for food, though?"

"Definite." He growled, obviously also annoyed with the woman. As much as he loved hate-love relationsh.i.p.s, it was not possible with this woman. For one, they were too similar, and opposites attract. Not similars. "Though, you are a lovely lady---"

"Stop the flattering, I don't want to be tied with you by the law or with anything at all!"

"Yes, I also agree. But, you see, I'm only marrying you for your shares of Qi International." His lips sneered but his face was halfway to a scowl. How unappealing. "So, do cooperate."

"I'd give you all my shares if you leave me."

"Oh?" Though, as annoying the younger woman was, she amused him. It seems she still didn't know who he was. "Do you know who I am, Ms. Kane? Or should I stay soon-to-be Mrs. Kiel?" He couldn't help but smile as she paled in comparison to her white hospital gown. "As a cruel businessman you must think that I could simply just... Take your shares in a cheap amount. Though, lazy I am, I still have energy to want to play a game."

Elise: ' I'm already playing one, I doubt I'm the one who has enough energy to play another with you. '

"What kind of game Mr. Kiel?"

"Call me Lucas, or River if you prefer." He straightened his form, pulling a wooden, cushioned chair and sat on it, his green eyes giving her the shivers. "It's simple... Do you want to get revenge on my brother?"

The question had her confused. Revenge? That wasn't her goal in this story, her goal was to get a happy ending. So ruining the main leads lives would... Ultimately lead her to square 0.

"You're hesitating..." He remarked, leaning against the chair, with his arms crossed. "Then again, it wasn't like my brother broke up with you. You broke up with him."

"He wouldn't accept my..." She pursed her lips, cheeks reddening. Elise only suspected that Logan Kiel would not accept her condition. The Delphi before was always careful to avoid complications, she always stared hard at Logan to make sure it was him from his clothes, his hair, and his voice... But never his face... She could never identify him with his face only.

Thinking about the life Delphi lived, she worked hard to live normally. But you can't always evade the fact that she was suffering from face blindness.

"I have something that he would not like..." She finally said, "it would be best if I don't mess with him... For a very long time."

"Well, mess with your sister at the very least. Help me get my revenge on Helena." A steely glow in his eyes showed he was serious. The woman cheated on him with his own brother. Heck, every time he sees her with Logan he chokes. Since when did the woman become so scheming? He made it his goal to break the two up... Because he wanted her to feel his pain. "So? I'll break the engagement if you just help me with this."

"I thought you wanted my shares and not my help, Mr. Kiel."

"It's Lucas or River, if you please. And it was simply a cover, in other words, an excuse."

"Indeed I want to break the engagement with you too... But you must know I can break it on my own." She snarled, not wanting to cause the main leads problems. If she did so, it would really be a big setback and she couldn't afford setbacks. Someone wanted to kill Delphi. She needed to get away from here and not get into any spotlight for her own safety.

"This would cause you no harm Ms. Kane... If their love was truly strong, they would not be affected with any blow we give them." He stood up. He had said his piece, and was somewhat confident she would agree. Digging into his suit for a card, he offered it to her and went to the door to leave.

Was it really worth it causing a ruckus in the main leads love story? Staring hard onto the simple, minimalistic themed, business card. Her soul was screaming yes... While her mind fought with rationality, the woman couldn't help saving his number into her phone.
