Fenrir: The Wolf Overlord

Chapter 4 - Worst Start

"Hm..Is that the neighbour?"

Sorahiko spoke out as he focused on a black haired girl who exited from the truck. It was easy to notice her bacause she was wearing casual clothes unlike the other people.

'Annoying.'

Cipher didn't respond to the old man or the newcomer. He simply wanted to go to sleep as all of the events happening one after another, as if it was a drama, was too annoying to watch for him.

So, he tried to stand up but unfortunately he was too late and got stopped by a firm grip on his shoulder.

"Go and help her carry her stuffs."

'As I expected.'

Cipher sighed and turned to look at Sorahiko in an extremely lazy and annoyed way. His eyes even threatened to close at each second.

"....Care to tell me why I should do that?"

"You should make a good first impression. That is the first step to make a friend."

"....."

Cipher sighed once again and tried to pry the hand off his shoulders, but to no avail. He sighed for a third time and turned to look at the girl who was right now helping the other workers to carry, presumably her own stuffs.

'Goddamn old man won't let me leave. It is annoying but I guess it doesn't hurt to try. I just have to get it done quick.'

Cipher thought and shook himself from the sudden drowsiness he had. He then nodded his head in acceptance reluctantly. At the same time, Sorahiko nodded his head happily and released him from the strong grasp on his shoulder.

"Just this once."

Saying this, Cipher jumped down from the roof and landed on the ground two floors below directly. Sorahiko smiled as he kept close eyes on Cipher who was probably taking his first step to make his first friend. But deep down, he knew that it would be very difficult for him.

~~~~~
On the ground, not to say the least, the workers unloading the furnitures and the girl, all of them were surprised by Cipher who suddenly landed in front of them.
"Do you need some help?"
"....."
Cipher spoke out as he stood up and looked at the people present. He waited for a while but none of them responded to him.
'So annoying.'
Cipher thought and looked back at the old man on the roof. He saw him waving his hand, as if to say 'You can do it' or 'I won't allow you to leave without doing anything'.
Of course, the motion of his hands didn't indicate this but Cipher got a general idea of what he was trying to say without even hearing him. So, he turned around even more annoyed, and spoke out in a loud and clear tone.
"I said, Do you want some help?"
"Mm....Mm..."
This time he got a response. The girl who looked frail and weak frantically nodded her head.
She had been intimidated by the way Cipher looked down at her. It was as if she was just a cannon fodder in his eyes. And moreover, she could feel an extremely suppressing pressure from him.
Cipher who was s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e to other's people emotions clearly felt her wavering emotions, which was soon dominated by her fear. So he raised an eyebrow at this and contemplated.
'Was my emotions exposed?'
He quickly confirmed that he still had the blank expression and emotionless glint in his eyes. He even confirmed that he had talked in an emotionless tone.
'If it is not that, then did she see through me?'
Cipher brought his head down to the level of the girl, who could not be anymore than 5 feet in height, and stared into her eyes. He closely studied her and he noticed that her face had an blank expression full of lies; in other words, it was a fake mask just like his.
Soon, everything came together in his mind and he realized the main thing.
'This girl and me. We are the same.'
It was a strange feeling. He knew that she was similar to him but how? That was something he couldn't figure out.
But he did knew that this girl was s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e to other's emotions. That meant she can feel his emotions that he had been hiding for a long time. Knowing that, he tried his best to block all of his emotions.
"Oi, what is your name?"
Cipher questioned out. He seemed to had completely forgot his main purpose of approaching these people. But even if he did remember, he would have not given a shit about it at this point.
On the other hand, the workers who were ignored were right now talking some gibberish and trying to come in between him and the girl. Unfortunate for them, Cipher didn't even keep them in his eyes and pushed them away from his way half heartedly.
He proceeded to solely gaze down at the blank but wavering blue pupils of the girl, wondering if she could still see through his real emotions. He didn't even give her a chance to get away from him, with his intense gaze locked on her.
Cipher was so preoccupied with trying to not miss even a slight reaction from her, that he didn't notice that she was slowly backing away from him in fear. After some time, Cipher did notice her visuably shaking and backing away, so he was extremely confused.
'Did I do something? Or she can still see through me?'
~~~~~

"That fool."

On the roof, Sorahiko cursed out as he looked at Cipher, who was doing the exact opposite of what he was asked to do.

The old man stood up on his two feets and then jumped down towards Cipher at his full speed, even going as far as to use his quirk. In just a few seconds, he had perfectly managed to drop-kick Cipher and sent him straight to the ground.

Simultaneously, the girl saw the chance and distanced herself from him without wasting a single millisecond. After getting a few distance away, she kept her hands over her c.h.e.s.t and sighed in relief.

"What the heck are you doing, you fool?"

Sorahiko glanced at the girl and shouted at Cipher who was lying flat on the ground. Cipher soon grunted in pain and slowly proceeded to stand up. He then glared at his attacker, with his usual deadpan expression unusually turned into pure annoyance.

"You are the goddamn fool. Why the heck did you kick me, you old geezer?"

In all honesty, Cipher would have been angry at whoever attacked him and immediately retaliate with his own attack. But the attack was from Sorahiko, who he had come to recognize as his grandfather. So, he could not do anything extravagant.

Still, Cipher who was extremely annoyed, approached the old man in a few steps. He grabbed the collar of the shirt and raised Sorahiko up in the air.

He didn't care about the girl's reaction anymore. Right now, what he wanted to do was settle the matter with the old man once and for all.

"Why did you kick me, old man?"

"Don't think that I will kick you without a good reason. You were clearly troubling the lady over there."

Sorahiko exclaimed out in a relatively softer tone than before. He then glanced at his back. Cipher also looked behind him and saw the girl from before. She flinched when his gaze met with her but he paid it no heed.

He had realized his mistake but he didn't want to admit it. So, he clicked his tongue in annoyance and brought the old man down to the ground.

"Don't look for me."

Saying this, Cipher turned around and walked forward. He had no destination in his mind. All he wanted to do was to cool his head down and then he will return.

"I am really sorry about my grandson. He is really inconsiderate about other people's feelings."

Cipher heard Sorahiko speak from a distance away and snorted. But he didn't turn around and instead started walking faster. He knew that he would be caught and forced to apologise to these people, if he stayed in this place any longer.

'First of all, this is all your fault for forcing me to help her, old man.'

He cursed Sorahiko one last time and disappeared through an alleyway.

~~~~~
4 hours later
~~~~~

'So annoying. I just wanted to look at those so called eye mask.... I guess, today is really my bad day. First the old man, then the girl, and now these goddamn thugs.'

Cipher cursed as he was slowly being surrounded by three rough looking guys. The three of them were villains who just robbed a bank and fled to this narrow road. Unfortunately, Cipher was also walking in this same place. But the most unfortunate thing was that, no people were around here.

Some moments earlier, Cipher got lucky as he didn't come face to face with a crowd of people. So, he managed to calm his emotions from the morning, and became really intrigued by the eye masks worn by various people on the train. So, he was going around the place searching for one of them. Unfortunately, what he came upon was not the eye mask that he d.e.s.i.r.ed, but these villains.

These villains were quick to anger just like him. When they saw him blocking their path in this narrow place, they cursed at him and immediately tried to start a fight.

Though Cipher wasn't the least bit worried about the upcoming battle. The outcome was already clear to him. It was just that he didn't want that to happen.

He had made a promise with the old man to not cause trouble in the city, just yesterday. Moreover, he had also made a promise to not kill anyone, many years back. These two promises held him back from moving.

Unfortunately, his intentions of not wanting to fight were not conveyed to the three in front of him.

'Well, I guess it is okay to kill them. I am soon going to become a hero, so it should probably count as a hero killing some villains. Moreover, there seems to be nobody around. You guys have more bad luck than me.'

Cipher thought as he looked at one of the villain, who had a lizard like appearance move. The villain breathed out fire from his mouth, which completely engulfed him within seconds. Simultaneously, all the three villains started to laugh in mockery.

"Haha. This guy. He was standing there so confidently but all it took was one attack."

"I guess we got worried for no reason."

"Just wait. I will burn his entire body to a crisp. It will be fun to watch him cry in pain."

The one who breathed the fire was the last to speak. He proceeded to breath out more fire, when he noticed something unusual.

"Oi. That is weird. Why isn't he crying out in pain?"

The other two villains jolted up and also noticed this bizarre event. The fire was burning magnificently but no sound was made from inside it.

".....Is he already dead?"

One of the villains questioned out, a little spooked by the silence. The next moment, his vision started turning upside down and it became the last thing that he saw.

'One down, two to go.'
