Fenrir: The Wolf Overlord

Chapter 5 - A Refreshing Day

"I am home."

After spending the entire noon outside, Cipher entered his new house with an unusual grin on his face. He had been refreshed after releasing all of his pent up blood l.u.s.t, that he had to hold back for many years already.

But his grin was the farthest thing from being unusual. Even more unusual was the pair of furry wolf ears on his head, and a similarly furry tail protruding from his back.

'Now where is the old man? I have to talk to him about what happened earlier or he will be annoying later on.'

Cipher thought and searched his whole apartment for Sorahiko but there was no one inside. He shook his head and tried to smell out his scent this time.

'...He is next door with someone. It must be the girl from before. I guess I have to talk with him some other time... Hmm, But I might as well apologise to that girl and tell him at the same time.'

Cipher thought and immediately decided on what to do. His expression turned blank and he left his apartment. He then directly went to the other door in front of his apartment and ringed the doorbell.

"..a second."

A small voice came from the other side of the door. The girl that he had met earlier soon opened the door and flinched, as she unknowingly came face to face with him.

"Sorry about earlier."

Cipher casually apologized without batting an eye to her flinching. He knew it was his fault for intimidating her earlier, but he wasn't going to point it out for her.

But as casual as it may seem, he would never even bother to apologise to someone if he wasn't feeling refreshed.

On the other hand, the old man had also followed a step behind her. When he looked at Cipher, he couldn't help but do a double take soon after. A deep scowl immediately formed on his face, as he suddenly had a bad premonition.

"What did you do?"

Cipher looked at the old man strangely. He shook his head and glanced at the girl, trying to signal about her to him.

"I will tell you later. What were you doing in this place?"

"....."

Sorahiko didn't respond. He completely focused on glaring at Cipher to figure out what he was hiding. As everyone became silent, the girl responded to Cipher in a shaky tone.

"...I invited him to have lunch as thanks. If y-you want to, y-you can also join us."

Cipher noticed that the girl wasn't as afraid of him as she was in the morning. In a matter of fact, she seemed quite curious about his ears and tail, as she kept on glancing at them.

He also had the same feeling. He was still quite curious of the girl and her story in general, but he didn't want to start yet another drama in this place.

"No, I won't. I just had my full of prey before I came here."

Sorahiko raised an eyebrow at his response, especially the part of 'prey'. Another scowl formed on his face as he managed to think of something incredibly unbelievable.

'Did he actually... No, If it is him, it is really possible.'

The girl was completely oblivious to his thoughts and smiled. The smile was oddly forced but it still seemed to fit her blank expression.

"M-my name is Yui, Kodai Yui. I will be living in this place from now on. P-please treat me well."

She introduced herself in a soft tone. Cipher accepted her introduction and nodded his head realizing that this girl, Yui could no longer see through him.

"It is Cipher."

Cipher then spoke out without any hint of emotion. He then turned his head to stare at the old man.

'I have to talk to him but it would be very troubling with this girl beside him.'

"Th-then, I still have to make some lunch."

Yui saw that she was no longer the focus and excused herself. She turned around and started walking inside her apartment without further ado.

Cipher became quite satisfied, as she seemed to have unknowingly read his mind.

"Oi."

Sorahiko, who had remained silent, finally spoke out with an extremely disheartened tone and expression.

"Did you... did you eat someone?"

"If you want to scream at me, do it later."

Cipher spoke out harshly as he glared at Sorahiko. He basically agreed with the old man but he wasn't going to regret anything he did, as thanks to that, he was finally able to feel refreshed in many many years.

"And yes. I did eat someone, but it was just some villains, so everything should be okay."

Hearing his answer, Sorahiko looked down regretfully. He knew he should scold him and make him understand his mistake, but the place they were in wasn't the best place to talk about it.

"You should go back. I don't want the frail girl to have some suspicion."

Cipher exclaimed and turned back towards his apartment, leaving the old man alone on the corridor.

The old man just stood still for a few seconds and hesitantly turned around. He walked inside Yui's apartment, because it was all just like Cipher said.

He still had to accept her wellbeing if he didn't want her to be suspicious of his grandson.

14 hours later

~~~~~
It was early morning and Cipher had finally woke up. He had actually slept for nearly 14 hours, so he felt a lot more refreshed than yesterday.
His ears and tail had also reverted back, and that became another thing that made him feel satisfied. Unfortunately, that feeling of his didn't last for long.
As soon as he came out of his room, the old man was roused. He swiftly got up from the sofa he was sleeping on, and shouted at him angrily.
"You are not allowed to kill, and especially eat anyone from now on."
"It is early in the morning, old man. Your shouts are too annoying."
"Listen to me."
Sorahiko shouted once again when he saw Cipher trying to leave the apartment. When he didn't stop, Sorahiko jumped in front of him and blocked his way.
"You are not a child anymore. I won't protect you like I did back then."
"Even if they are villains?"
Cipher sighed once again as he was forced to speak. In all honesty, he didn't want to talk with the old man right now, as it all was really annoying to him. Moreover it was early morning.
"No. Leave the villains to the heroes."
"But I am going to be a hero, aren't I?"
"You are not a hero yet. Just because you were accepted to U.A. doesn't mean you can go around killing villains indiscriminately.
Moreover, heroes don't necessarily kill villains. A hero's job is to protect, not to kill."
"Stupid heroes and their stupid ideals."
Cipher spat out to which Sorahiko glared at him angrily.
"You are scared of the heroes. No, you are scared of All Might, aren't you?"
Cipher flinched greatly and glared at the old man. He tried to speak but unfortunately he was cut short.
"Then, you better stop doing what you did yesterday. All Might is in Tokyo right now. He might as well arrive before you."
Cipher sighed defeated. He had nothing left to say. So, he raised his hands and surrended willingly.
"I got it. I won't kill or eat anyone. So get out of my way, annoying old man."
He exclaimed out in a serious tone. Sorahiko felt bad about bringing up one of his fears but he still managed to convince Cipher.
'Sorry, Cipher. You would not have listened to me any other way... I don't know how long it will be until you know of his condition, but I really hope you would have changed before that day.'
Sorahiko thought and formed a weak smile on his face.
"I believe in you."
"....."
Those words made Cipher stop in his tracks and stare at the old man intensely. Their stare off lasted for a few seconds until Cipher scoffed and walked out.
"One more thing, I am going to leave Tokyo today. You are on your own from now on."
"What?"
Cipher once again stopped in his tracks and looked back at the old man. His face had a look of disbelief plastered on it.
"....What did you say?"
"I said I am going to leave Tokyo today. You are on your o..... Wait, you don't want me to leave?"
"What? Wh-who? I don't give a shit whether you leave or not."
Cipher unusually stuttered and immediately turned his face away from the old man. As cold as he may be to Sorahiko, he still seemed to really see him as his own family, a family that won't be separated easily.
Sorahiko quickly realized this and was moved to tears. A genuine smile soon formed on his face this time.
"You will be fine alone. I believe in you."
"I don't need you to tell me that."
Cipher yelled out and stomped out of the house. He didn't have a destination. Right now he simply wanted to get away from this place as soon as possible.
'It is alright. The child is originally fated to leave his pack at a younger age. So, I will be alright.'
