Fenrir: The Wolf Overlord

Chapter 6 - Living Alone

'He is not here.'

Cipher unlocked the door of his apartment and entered it with steps as light as a feather.

The time was already night. After leaving the house during the early morning, he had spent the whole day in the crowded city of Tokyo.

His main goal was to get used to the crowd. It was a lot difficult for him to maintain a calm mind at the start but he soon got used to it. Being refreshed from the events of yesterday especially helped him a lot.

'But how can this city have a large amount of criminals moving around? It is really difficult to believe that All Might is here.'

One thing that he noticed while he was in the city, was that many people were shady and clearly doing some suspicious stuffs. Moreover, he encountered a squabble between heroes and villains two times in the same day.

Even though he could say he was the same as those criminals and villains, he could not help but find this state of the city to be extremely odd. Especially when he considered that All Might, who is hailed as the Symbol of Peace was in the city himself.

'Why didn't he stop them? He should easily be able to take care of all these criminals? Or did the old man lie to me? What if All might is not in this city?'

Cipher sighed and proceeded to cook some light dinner. He wasn't skilled with handling the ingredients but he wasn't bad at the same time. He was average with the basic knowledge of cooking some edible stuffs.

'No use thinking about it. But I really want to know if he still remembers me. That bastard spoke out some shitty ideals when he met us. He spoke as if he knew everything about us, about me.'

His thoughts started to trail off considerably.

'But moreover, he is related with that goddamn bastard who killed the last of my family...No.. He is not only related with that bastard but he was the one who led that bastard to us.'

His thoughts trailed off further and further from the main subject. Simultaneously, he started putting pressure on the handle of the pan unconsciously. A second later, the handle was completely ripped off from the pan.

Cipher scoffed in disbelief as the pan flew away, leaving only the handle in his hands. He soon dropped the handle and put his hands over his face, trying to calm down his emotions that has took a turn for the worst.

After some seconds, he took his hands away from his face and he started laughing in self derision.

"Haha...This is why I didn't want to be alone, old man. What if I accidentally kill someone innocent because I could not hold it back?"

Cipher exclaimed out for the old man to hear. But there was no way anybody could hear his question and he also knew that.

He laughed at his foolish display of emotions for the last time, and immediately prepared his food. After a few minutes his food was cooked, a simple dish consisting of fried rice and a omelette.

He quickly gobbled up all of his food and directly went to his bed to sleep. He didn't want to think something deeply anymore, lest he wanted some other utensils or furnitures to break apart, or something even worse to happen.

The events of yesterday was an extremely rare case, which Cipher had not done or even considered to do, ever since he was took in by Sorahiko.

Ever since the day he met the old man, he had learned a lot of thing that should be common sense to everyone. And that included not killing others and especially, not eating your own race as it was practically cannibalism.

But it proved very difficult to leave behind one's childhood habits that has been deeply ingrained in their character.

As a child, Cipher had grown up in a surrounding so dangerous that he had to always look out for his life, and the lives of his family every single day.

'The survival of the fittest' This phrase that was coined by Herbert Spencer and originated from Charles Darwin, Cipher found this phrase to be extremely relatable to his childhood.

'The strong will survive and the weak will die.' That was the belief that he had held onto since an extremely young age of three years old, ever since he came too close to being dead or possibly brain-dead.

As he grew up, he had managed to survive every hurdle, every challenge, every obstacle, but he had still lost. As he couldn't protect his friends, his family who kept on dying one by one in front of him.

The main reason, all of them were too weak. He was too weak to retaliate back against his enemy.

Cipher couldn't stomach his weakness when he was a child even when he grew up. Everytime he remembered it, he laughed at himself remembering his weakness, his loss of options on what to do.

But, he didn't only mock himself and remained silent. There was no way he was going to remain silent.

When he grew strong, at least strong enough to retaliate, he hunted down all of his enemies that took part in killing his family. He brutally killed them one by one, just like how his family were killed. The only difference, he didn't leave their dead bodies behind.

He had ate all of their corpses. They had unknowingly and tragically become his nourishment for further strength. It also became somewhat his own way of showing respect to his dead friends and family.

This extreme habit of his still remained in the deepest part of his conscience even till this day. So, when he finally did kill someone after six years of peace and tranquility, there was no way he could hold back the extreme urge he experienced to eat his prey.
