Fenrir: The Wolf Overlord

Chapter 7 - Kindness Or .....

A week has passed since Cipher started living in his apartment alone. He trained his body, looked around the city and slept. That became his new daily routine. It was a boring and tedious repitition everyday, especially when nothing unusual happened.

Due to this, he was somehow beginning to miss his daily disputes with the old man, even if it was something really annoying.

*Sigh*

'This is really the worst start for a day.'

Cipher thought as he got out of his bed. It was early noon already, indicating that he had over slept today as well. Moreover, he had just woke up in the worst possible way, through a nightmare.

Or it was more precise to call it a record. A record of how he was powerless against that man, and how he nearly lost his life to a huge sword that was plunged into his c.h.e.s.t.

'No need to remember that memory again. I just have to cook some breakfast and train today as well.'

He thought and searched around his house. And he finally realized. His kitchen was completely empty except for some utensils. Similarly, his refrigerator has also become empty at some point.

"Annoying."

Cipher grumbled and proceeded to leave his apartment. But he wasn't as annoyed as he seemed. After all, he had to only buy some ingredients and return home. It was as simple as that.

Unfortunately, sometimes things don't work out the way one want them to go.

"Ah."

The moment Cipher opened the door, he met someone he had been avoiding for the last week. It was his neighbour, Kodai Yui.

"...Good morning."

She spoke out in a soft tone which no longer contained fear and hesitation unlike the last time. Cipher stared at her for a few seconds intently.

"Good morning."

He didn't avoid her this time. He knew that even if he tried to avoid the girl as much as possible, he would eventually meet her again one way or another. So, he had already prepared for the next meeting properly. But it was only from his perspective, so his preparation wasn't very reliable.

"...Where are you heading?"

"Going out to buy some food."

After hearing his response, Yui suddenly brought her hands forward and a bag appeared in her hands. No, the bag didn't appear in her hands but it enlarged in her hands.

'So this is her quirk.'

Cipher silently made a note to himself. Simultaneously, Yui showed her bag to him and spoke out in her emotionless tone.

"I also have to buy some food."

He simply nodded his head to her exclamation. Honestly, his preparation didn't include talking for a long time. So, he didn't know why the girl was still speaking to him or why she showed her quirk to him. Basically, he was already at a loss of words.

"....."

"....."

As Cipher blankly stared at Yui wondering if he should leave or not, she started becoming extremely conscious of his gaze and the silence.

Unknowingly, she was also going through the same problem as him. She couldn't think of how to keep the conversation going.

"...Let's go together."

Finally, after some visible hesitation, she managed to speak out in a shaky way. Cipher heard her and nodded his head lightly.

"Okay."

It unusually sounded like a good idea. Since their destination was the same, it wasn't like they were not going to accompany each other.

Moreover, he knew that the girl in front of him was a quiet person just like him. Due to this, he had somehow come to have some respect and admiration for Yui.

Some Moments Later

~~~~~
Cipher and Yui were walking around the market place side by side. The two of them seemed really unapproachable as both of them were silent with a blank look on their face.
"So, weren't you afraid of me?"
Cipher suddenly broke the silence. He bluntly asked the question which had been in his mind for quite some time already.
"Yes, I was afraid at first. But I am not afraid anymore."
Yui spoke out causally. She didn't look at him. She simply continued to face forward and look around the place, searching for a market that was selling ingredients for food.
"Then, Why aren't you afraid anymore?"
"Hmm."
This time, she stopped in her place and proceeded to think of an answer. Cipher also stopped beside her and silently waited for her to speak.
After sometime, Yui nodded her head and looked up at him with a warm gaze. Cipher found that gaze extremely infruriating but he quickly managed to calm down.
"When I first met you, I could feel a lot of anger and annoyance from you. I became afraid of you because I thought you might kill me.
But when we met again, you weren't angry. You were happy....But you were still suffering just like the morning. I wanted to know why you were feeling like that. I wanted to help you if possible."
The quiet girl unusually talked a lot. But Cipher couldn't think of that much. He just remained silent and took in everything she said.
"But I was still afraid of you because of what happened in the morning, so I couldn't even speak properly... But getting to talk with you again today, I know that you aren't a scary person. Instead you are just like me."
She finished speaking and formed a genuine and sweet smile on her blank face. But Cipher didn't react to it much. He was preoccupied with some other thoughts, thoughts that he could not overlook.
'I was suffering... I don't know what you are saying but it basically means that you could see through me since the very start, doesn't it?'
Cipher glanced at the girl looking up to him, and he tried hard not to let his annoyance show on either his face or his eyes. He also tried his best to push away all the negative thoughts that were rising in his mind.
"...Were you serious when you said that you wanted to help me?"
Cipher questioned out after a long time of silence. He doubted that he could hide his emotions properly as it had already been revealed once. But there was nothing he could do but try.
"Of course."
Cipher sighed in defeat as Yui spoke out without any hint of lie or hesitation. He realized that she was naive, too naive wanting to help a stranger she met for the first time.
Her image soon overlapped with a person who he hated and feared the most in this whole world. Someone who is kind but naive, someone who ultimately brought tragedy to him.
Still, having the least amount of respect for the girl stopped him from seeing her as a threat. But there was still one last thing he had to ask no matter what, to fully trust her as someone who won't be a threat to him.
"Why do you have that mask?"
"Eh?"
Yui became startled all of a sudden. She touched her face which had a blank expression and looked at Cipher with shock and surprise, clear in her wavering pupils.
"What? Did you seriously think I wouldn't notice that? We are similar. You already pointed that out."
The girl flinched and nodded her head, a little spooked out. Seeing this, Cipher scoffed in disbelief. He realized that the girl might be kind and caring, but she was also dumb in the most unusual things.
"....Why?"
"What?"
"Why are you angry?"
Cipher's blank expression instantly turned ugly as his eyes narrowed with annoyance and anger. He knew that she had read his emotions once again and it annoyed him to no ends.
Simultaneously, Yui backed away a little in fear and that was all he needed as confirmation.
"You should know that you are not the only one s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e to other's emotions. I am the same."
"...mm.."
Yui nodded her head frantically and remained silent. She couldn't help it. She was exposed to even heavier pressure, than what she felt when she met Cipher for the first time. She was shaken to the core from the pure hatred and bloodl.u.s.t directed at her.
Cipher stopped himself from doing something rash and simply glared at the girl.
"....That fake mask of yours looks very disgusting."
"ehh..."
His words contained no lies, instead it was filled with venom. Having felt that, Yui looked down at the ground and tears began to form at the edges of her eyes.
Cipher clicked his tongue. He didn't expect the girl to start shedding tears. He did hesitate but he didn't do anything regarding her.
Being kind was fine, but he especially didn't like it because she was naive and she could read his emotions.
'Foolish. She is the same. She is the same as that bastard who thinks he can protect everyone... Kind but naive.. Nothing good will happen if I trust someone like that.'
Yeah, she was the same. In his eyes, she was the same as All Might whom he had only met once. But one meeting was all he needed to know about both of their characters.
'The kindest person is always the most dangerous.'
Cipher looked around and saw that a lot of people around the place were focusing on them. No, they were focusing on Yui, who was silently weeping.
He clicked his tongue and looked back at the weeping girl. His emotions wavered for a second time.
After a while, he scoffed and walked away from the place, shoving away everyone who was in his way.
