Forgotten One

Chapter 6 - Rank 1 Demonic Wolf

Lei Shu slowly begun to move towards the wolf in order to help it until he heard a low rumble. The boar was injured as well, it was struggling to get up but it was certainly capable of battle. Its mane was drenched in blood and it was slowly dripping onto the floor.

"DRIP DRIP"

Lei Shu was worried, although he had killed the serpent and horse, none of them focused on strength primarily. The boar gave Lei Shu a long dead stare, it snuffed air out of its nose and began to run towards him. Lei Shu was prepared, he turned to his right and immediately began running.

He focused on running in a zig zag pattern as a way to combat the boars' lack of mobility. He was trying to tire it out and by doing that, by the time it inevitably striked, it out have lost a great amount of power. After countless minutes of running Lei Shu began to slow himself down but he kept up the pattern.

A red streak could be seen dragging across the floor behind Lei Shu. It was the dark horse's red hair. It was soft but extremely reliable and difficult to cut. While Lei Shu was running in the pattern, he made sure to drop a bit of hair after he passed a thick stalk of withered ghost plants. Each handful he dropped would wrap around the stalks of withered ghost plant and by doing so it made a sort of barrier. The boar wasn't too intelligent so while chasing Lei Shu for so long it finally tripped over the horsehair and fell face first onto the ground. It left a ditch of 3 feet with its face implanted into the ground.

Lei Shu was prepared to use most of the poison that was left in order to subdue the boar for good. What surprised him the most was that even as he waited, the boar never got up, it was actually stuck in the ground.

The body of the boar looked extremely hilarious, even though this was a life and death trial Lei Shu couldn't help but let out a chuckle. The body of the boar looked like an upside-down scorpion. This opportunity had fell perfectly into Lei Shu's l.a.p. He sprung forward with his trusty old dagger and sliced in an upwards arc. He planned to subdue the beast with one beautiful slash. The dagger sliced across its belly flawlessly, Lei Shu was excited because if he hadn't used the tooth of a spiritual beast then the dagger wouldn't have been able to complete the cut.

Lei Shu collapsed onto the ground as he was exhausted from running and hunting with little rest. Lei Shu was struggling to keep himself awake until he could set up the poison chamber to protect him. He was about to tap his spatial ring until he felt a small ball of warmth beside him. When he opened his eyes, he felt an extreme amount of warmth and love. Two pairs of innocent golden eyes were staring directly at him.

Lei Shu hadn't felt this kind of warmth in a long time. His dog on Earth had passed and this brought a slew of memories to him. They burst like a dam and his eyes became misty. He hugged the wolf passionately as he fell into a deep slumber. With this close feeling of protection, Lei Shu felt that he could sleep forever.

Lei Shu finally opened his eyes, "Hey little fella, did you keep me safe all night. The wolf nodded up and down while it smiled at Lei Shu. The wolf looked towards him as if he was a part of his family. Lei Shu was overcome with emotion, he believed that the purest emotions were the ones you couldn't fully explain.

On Earth, Lei Shu had fell in love with a girl when he was 13. It was love at first sight. He didn't know why he felt that way, the only thing he knew was that this feeling would never go away. On Earth, he always thought about this girl from time to time, even though he never had her, they were still close friends. He just never made a move; it was one of his biggest regrets and its one of the things that changed him greatly. He decided from that moment forward, he would make decisions that he would never regret. For Lei Shu, there was no point to regret or stress over things that had already happened, because you couldn't do anything that would change the past. He held the little wolf and held him up into the air while looking at him. "What do you say about come with me from now on. But I have to warn you, my path will not be easy, it will be filled with blood, but also happiness as well." The little wolf nodded up and down once more and made a sound, "Aoooo." "Alright little guy, then how about we start with a name. How do you like the name Kyzer?? No no, how about Lightning? I got it from your eyes. Wait, I know, how about Billa."

The tail of the wolf began to shake uncontrollably, and it jumped up and down in excitement. "Alright then, from today onwards, your name will be Billa."

Lei Shu was about to leave when his jaw smacked against the ground. He had 3 bulls free for the taking. That would increase his number to 7 common beasts killed. Alas, he was un upright man, he had nothing to do with the 2 boars Billa had killed and Billa had already ate them so he left the bones behind. He took the last bull with him and as he looked down, he saw black dust piled onto the ground. His spatial ring had broken down, but he no longer had a use for it. When he got back to the cave, he put the boar corpse along with the other 4. He now had 5 corpses out of the original 10 he needed.

"Good now I'm halfway to my goal and with Billa here it will be much easier. We will hunt together only when he is needed, I can't rely too heavily on him or else I will fall behind. Time to regain our energy and begin hunting again tomorrow."

Lei Shu sat back in front of the cave entrance and closed his eyes. He ripped a piece of boar meat off and raised it to his mouth and began to eat. His eyes jolted open when he swallowed his first piece. He felt as though his strength was increasing once more. He meditated and absorbed this power until the entire boar was devoured. He then sat and continued to absorb and meditate.

"CLACK"

Lei Shu heard a snapping sound, almost like a chain or shackle was broken. His strength increased a decent amount and he could now see 2 more shackles blocking his body from a blurry object. His strength had increased once more, and he got up and began to stretch. He sensed that he gained more power from this boar than he did from one of the rank 1 spiritual beasts Mo Fen had killed. "I almost feel bad for killing that boar. It was on the verge of transforming into a rank 1 spiritual beast, given a few months it may have transformed successfully. Maybe I gained more power from this beast because it was recently killed, the energy within its body had yet to dissipate as much as the beasts Mo Fen killed."

When Lei Shu was brought back to his senses he smiled greatly. He looked towards Billa and nodded his head and pet the wolf passionately. When he scanned his close surroundings, he found that there were 2 serpent corpses on the floor. Billa had killed them in order to let him focus on meditation. Lei Shu was fine with this because he had long since obtained the strength necessary to kill a common serpent, so he didn't feel bad about doing this. He walked towards the serpent corpses and threw them into the pile with the rest of the corpses. That was now 7 out of 10 beasts required to pass the trial. He took his next few days easy, preparing for anything out of the ordinary.

With his newfound strength Lei Shu was feeling quite brazen, instead of hunting for corpses he would play with the beasts. Lei Shu would freely walk around the outer section of the canyon and if a beast tried to attack him, he would pummel it. He didn't kill them and collect their corpse, he just fought them to gauge his current strength.

Lei Shu was satisfied and went on to complete his final test. He had met with 2 rowdy adolescent boars. As soon as they saw him, they walked haughtily over, acting as if he was just a plaything. Lei Shu stared directly at them with a smile plastered across his face, a smile of confidence. The larger boar ran directly towards him, planning on squishing him with 1 encounter. Lei Shu casually threw out a punch and when it collided with the boar, the one sent flying was actually the boar. Lei Shu was only sent back 2 steps.

Lei Shu used the force that he was being flung away by to twist gracefully into the air, dodging the sideways attack of the other boar. The boar was a bit younger and it never had a strong opponent. It never made more than one attack so after it missed it kept charging, unable to slow down. In this split second, Lei Shu flung his dagger at the boar, the dagger was covered with horsehair and it tied the boars' back 2 legs together. The boar helplessly fell onto the ground when a shadow appeared over it.

Lei Shu appeared above it like a phantom. He made no motion towards his dagger; he was his own weapon now. Lei Shu raised a fist above the helpless boar, his fist akin to a large hammer. A great force came crashing down on the boars' ribcage. Although there weren't heavy external injuries, the internal organs of the boar had turned into mush. Light left the eyes of the boar, and it left this world. Lei Shu looked at the other boar still on the ground and rumbled.

"If life is cruel and fragile, is death strong and kind in a certain way? Well, the dead can't speak. There's no way of knowing so there's no point in discussing it."

The boar slowly got up from the ground, Lei Shu let it make its last stand. Lei Shu could see the despair in its eyes and decided it to die on its own terms. Lei Shu's eyes instantly shrunk. The only thing he saw in the distance was the bruised a.s.s of a boar, running further and further into the distance. Lei Shu didn't particularly enjoy the act of killing so he just stood there and watched. He watched as the boar ran, it ran until it was no longer visible to Lei Shu.

He sighed and made his way back to the cave. A good battle truly did make his blood boil. He took great enjoyment in fighting, especially when he was getting better at it. He was deciding on if he should just follow the injured boar back into its camp and have a quick spar with the other boars. In the end he decided to keep the feeling down, just because he had strength, didn't mean that he needed to needlessly beat up a bunch of boars. He was only a few feet away from his fighting position, he was making his way back when he heard something.

"AOOOOOOOO"

Lei Shu looked back into the distance and he saw a large shadow, in its jaws it was dragging a battered and bruised boar. A thick streak of blood trailing behind it, and a frenzied look filled its eyes. It wasn't here just to play.
