From Slave To Ruler

Chapter 17 - Training Room

3 groups split in 3 lines(5 each), following 3 of the Arena Masters out of that specific training room of the Arena which they were standing on, to reach their own training rooms. A.k.a to reach their soon to be new team. From now on, the other 75% of the Arena Warriors, are their enemies. It is how an Arena works.

Since the groups are split in 4, naturally there are 4 training rooms. In each of those training rooms there are normal doors which are attached to the Arena battlefield, which of course leads to another solid wood Door that is over half the time bigger compared to the first door(12 feet tall). Infact this specific construction is too big to be considered a door, so "a gate" is the best possible description.

4 large wooden gates, in a way representing each team(Black, Red, Green, Blue). That gate is dragged from above with chains by people working in the Arena, it is not so difficult to lift as long as any individual is capable of simply turning an iron wheel to the right, as soon as the horn for the battle to begin, is sounded. It doesn't even take much strength, the Chain does all the work.

So when a battle between two or more teams is to happen, they have to go through those doors in order to enter the Arena, it is as simple as that. People who don't work in the Arena as a Patrol Guard, betting area host, "cleaner", Arena Master, etc etc. Are simply not allowed to set foot on the battlefield, especially for touristic curiosity.

The Arena being 100 meters circularly wide, with only 40 meters providing training rooms and audience seats(the training rooms are underneath the audience seats), it is simply not enough for a lot of warriors to train if they registered and made it past a few battles. Luckily, Ground tappers are often cleared out due to the lack of skill which aids towards this lack of space. Devious, but it's how this business works.

Warriors who are residents here, that managed to survive long enough in the Arena to climb ranks, usually have the gold they need to build a private training room in their own homes. Although it wouldn't cost that much even for a Ground Tapper to build, it requires space and even though the taxes are the same no matter how big a house is, an Arena Warrior with fame over his shoulders, has it easier to obtain a bigger house for rent no doubt. Fame works.

However for those who don't have private training rooms, and can't fit in the training rooms underneath the Arena Grounds either, can train near the Arena. A.k.a the Arena's training yards, which are split with fences into 4 areas to avoid unnecessary conflict. When this training yard is combined with the space the actual Arena takes, it's about 300 meters. So the Arena along with the training yards(and other small or big buildings on those training yards), take 300 meters of space. They have all the space they need and the Arena grounds are basically a luxury hotel for those who have what it takes to climb the ranks.

There are dining rooms where 2 meals a day are free, there are buildings where Arena warriors can sleep at for free(in bundles), and of course there is a bar where men can relax after the Arena is closed, however the drinks are not free there. Weapons after 6pm are not allowed, so they have to either take them home or leave them at the Arena Armory rooms, Because swords and ale obviously don't mix well. In conclusion, with enough space by their side, the Arena can support a lot of Warriors and there are fights almost everyday, the fights might even become furthermore consistent with the new "touristic attractions."

After those 3 other groups left, Arena Master Fin turned to the 5 Bear Bloods in front of him, stared at them as he moved his head from left to right, observing, taking a few seconds before he yelled out an order. "Alright Bear Bloods! Names and powers now!" He of course didn't convince all 20 to come to this Arena. He only convinced 4, and the other 3 Arena Masters convinced the other 16 Bear Bloods. Let's just say, Arena Master Fin wasn't much interested in this project at the first days and saw this as a waste of time and gold.

Aaron James broke the silence first by introducing himself. "Aaron James, Level 1 EarthQuaker." His level at least, is something he remembered. And the way he shouted his name, it is clear that he watched too many Army movies before. His taste for violence isn't big and his knowledge for armies isn't dull either. At this point, even though minor it worked to his advantage.

"Aaron. A rather common name. If i remember right, you can't even hold a sword up right?" Asked Arena Master Fin as he stroked his own beardless Chin, trying to recall if he remembers it right while a couple of men were giggling about Aaron's lack of skill but Aaron Ignored it and so did the Arena Master. He did convince three other people after all, so he can't remember everything in detail about each warrior. This is also the first time that Aaron managed to see Arena Master Fin clearly. With a thick black line running through his face, it is clear that he belongs to the Kasteremas race. He didn't have hair on his head and a beard on his face, but he didn't look ridiculous. It fitted him, and the black line running through his face helped as well. "How does it feel seeing sunlight again?" At this part, Fin actually had sympathy. It takes a lot of guts to enter the Arena battlefield as a Warrior. So Aaron is either over confident or over desperate. But if he has the guts to do this, there is faith in him. At least, he has faith now but entering the Arena is still partly suicidal. So Fin can respect the courage.

"You are correct sir. Also, yes i feel less depressed." Hearing himself, he instantly realized his mistake. He used a modern word. He doesn't know what year it is in this world, depression isn't even discovered yet as far as he can see. Here if a person is depressed, has autism, is very sad, has strong anxiety, is bipolar or basically has any mental condition that portrays uncommon behaviour, that person is either called a devil worshipper, or they would think that he or she is possessed by a devil, or they would simply call them crazy and throw that individual's social status to the ground and step on it with both feet. Sadly, such behaviour is common in 2019 as well. So are we really in 2019?

"Now I have no idea what this "depressed is"." "Probably a Makemis thing." he thought, and gently spoke "But if it slows you down, get rid of it. Replace it with Charisma. Self trust comes above everything. Are we clear Ground Tapper?"

"Yes sir!"

"Alright. Moving on. You!" He pointed at another man standing next to Aaron James. "Name and Power!"

"Tristan Black Bear. Level 3 EarthQuaker!" Shouted the bigger man near Aaron. Standing 6 foot tall and being as wide as 2 men, it is a surprise how he didn't advance to level 7 yet. His physical strength seems to be more than enough to aid him towards that progress. Whatever the reason behind his slight lack of progress might be, he isn't dying in the Arena grounds anytime soon.

"Level 3 aye. Aaron, take some lessons from this fellow. You can at least survive a couple more rounds with his help." Smirked Fin, giving a small laugh, making short eye contact as well. "Let's get this over quick Ground Tappers, we have a lot of training to doo." Afterwards he pointed at the other man in line and shouted "You! Name and Power!"

"Inigo Cassinade! Level 4 Earth Ripper!" Shouted a 5 foot tall man. He wasn't too physically fit, pure strength is the base of any Bear Blood's power. But somehow this one seems to be Level 4. Is he breaking stereotypes?

"Perfect. Next one!" Hearing the Arena Master practically skipping a longer introduction for Inigo, he got rather jealous. As far as he heard, he is the most powerful one of the 3. But he got the shortest introduction. That got him emotionally triggered but he refused to show it and certainly didn't put Aaron, Tristan and especially Fin, on his close friend list. This introduction for him, started off with potential future enemies.

"Bacada Theras! Level 1 Earth Ripper." Interesting enough to see another BearBlood being Level 1, but this man doesn't even seem like he is 20 years old. But somehow he will fight in the Arena?

"Aaaa. Our youngest Warrior. Do you think you can survive in the Arena as an 18 year old?" Asked Arena Master Fin with a rather deep curiosity and lightness on his tone.

"My opponents won't know what will hit them!"

"Confident aye? Lets hope that you aren't over confident. The Arena isn't a playground!" Afterwards he proceeded to yell for the last one to introduce himself. The fact that this level 1 Earth Ripper got a longer introduction than Inigo, made Inigo even more furious. But he feared to speak anything about it. His life here started as a slave after all, speaking out of order or disobedience would surely be hard over a Ground Tapper. "Last one. Introduce yourself!"

This individual was rather, unique. Mostly because she is the only female to ever step foot on the Arena. Could it actually be???

"Auica Hynde! Level 2 EarthRipper." Shouted a woman standing 5.9 foot tall. The reason why a few men lacked concentration throughout this tour/ introduction, is because of her. A female in the Arena and no doubt highly attractive.

"Aaaa right. Miss Auica. You must be Sir Arthur's employee. It took a few Gold Coins and a great plan presentation to get you into this Arena as a Warrior, but i'm sure that you being a female Earth Ripper, will only make us all richer." Afterwards he turned his head towards the 4 other men in front of him and shouted. "As you heard me, she is Sir Arthur Hare's employee. If you thought of "touching her", kill that thought. Because Sir Arthur would have all of our heads cut off if such a thing happens." Seeing a couple of men swallow their spit, he added. "She is under his protection, Understand?!"
