Arthur frowned and said "I first thought that he was targeting me so I opted for someone who wanted to kill me because of my name. But then I understood that person wasn't after me, but after Elena. Now that I know Voldemort was the one to attack, a few hypothesis came to my mind."

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled as he asked "What do you think?" Arthur smiled helplessly and replied "It may sound crazy, but… Well the obvious part is that he attacked her so that the vampire princess died on Hogwarts ground, probably launching a war between Magical Britain and the vampires.

But the crazier part is my other one, that Voldemort wouldn't do something like that just to annoy us. I think that he may be recovering his powers, and that he plans on coming back at full power soon."

Dumbledore was impressed by Arthur's analytical prowess. Dumbledore nodded "We think alike. You know, I knew your great grandfather personally."

Arthur tilted his head, and despite knowing the truth he asked "Didn't you defeat him?" Dumbledore nodded sadly and replied "Yes, but it was at the end of the war. I knew him since we were younger. The first time I met him, I was only a few years older than you."

Arthur asked "How was he?" Dumbledore smiled and replied "Brilliant. We had formed a deep friendship… No, we were as close as brothers. Unfortunately, an accident separated us, and since then he darkened more and more. I already knew of his liking for dark arts, but he kept it to himself. Unfortunately, he spread it later."

Arthur shook his head and said "It's not like you knew this would happen, it's not your fault." Dumbledore sat in his chair, his mind lost in memories as he said "No, I was wrong. You two's personalities aren't close. You are the exact same."

This time, Arthur was really shocked. Dumbledore quickly continued "Gellert learned magic in Durmstrang, and he had the same attitude as you. He despised others because of their idiocy. And he was unbelievably talented."

Arthur's face changed as he said "I don't despise others…" Dumbledore shook his hand and said "It may be hard to accept, but you are very condescending. And honestly I understand you."

Arthur was stunned and asked "You do?" Dumbledore nodded and said "Myself I thought I was a genius in my younger days, and while in Gryffindor I ignored most people. The reason I became so close to Gellert was because of his level neared mine. We were equals.

So now that I see you, I totally understand how you became like this. Magic reserves comparable to 7th years despite being in your first, you created and mastered many spells, changed others… And from what I heard you are particularly good in knowledge."

Arthur smiled and waved a finger. He suddenly disappeared from the room, but then his voice echoed "It's particularly easy for me to sneak in libraries. And you underestimate how boring muggle school was for me."

Dumbledore nodded and said "I'm sure you must have been bored with your level of intellect." Arthur smiled but changed the topic "So, I guess you didn't keep me here to praise me, right?"

Dumbledore replied "Of course not, I wouldn't waste your time with this kind of things. I my memory serves me right you were friends with Mr Potter during primary school but since the beginning of the year you didn't talk to each other?"

Arthur nodded "Indeed, he must be afraid of rejection from others. He has always been like that." Dumbledore added "Good. I want to ask you something that will probably endanger your life. At multiple occasions."

Arthur frowned and asked "Why would I accept?" Dumbledore chuckled and said "Really the same. I want you to protect Mr Potter, be it from the shadows or in plain light. Many will try to harm our young friend."

Arthur snorted "This is really a dangerous mission. For how long am I supposed to protect him?" Dumbledore then dropped the bombshell "Until he leaves Hogwarts."

Arthur kind of expected this, so he said "This will endanger my life a lot of time. Buut honestly I think I would have done it anyway."

Dumbledore locked gaze with him and suddenly Arthur heard a voice in his head say "I can train you. Give you lessons to improve yourself."

Arthur was stunned by the deal "Why?"

Dumbledore sighed and said "Because I fear Harry will not be ready when the time comes. I am sure he will be a talented wizard, but Voldemort will not let him grow. You must understand that Voldemort is very strong, way stronger than people think."

Arthur chuckled "Then how strong are you for him to fear you?" Dumbledore shook his head and said "I can't defeat him. I'm not the one who can do it. But I hope that if I train you then you will be able to help Harry in his fight, and be my successor."

Arthur looked around the office and asked "Successor of what?" Dumbledore raised an eyebrow and said "the next Light Lord? Headmaster of Hogwarts? I don't know, it depends on your intentions, although I hope you could become the next Light Lord if not Harry."

Unexpectedly Arthur shook his head and said "I can't be the Light Lord. A Light Lord would make a Dark one rise, and vice versa. And Magical Britain is corrupted, something a Light Lord can't change."

"Then what can you do? What will you do?" Arthur shrugged and said "I don't know. I will try to survive first. Then I will think about it. But I accept your offer."

Dumbledore smiled "Great! Where to begin… Do you know what a Legilimens is?" Arthur nodded and said "As you might have seen I am one."

He nodded and said "Then considering the fact you learn spells very quickly, we should work on duel capabilities."

Arthur nodded and so Dumbledore said "We will start right now. Tommorow I will send you an owl with our training sessions."

"Now, let's begin by something simple."

Arthur listened with rapt attention as the old man began "There is a counter curse to every spell, which would help you counter it very easily. But this depends on the magic used."

Arthur nodded and Dumbledore continued his lesson. The two continued talking for about 30 minutes before they started practicing.

Arthur actually learned a lot. His master, Merlin, was only the version of himself when he was at the peak of the first level, and he could only teach him knowledge.

But for Dumbledore, it's different. He is currently at the end of his life, and he had probably reached the second level. However because Merlin had an earlier mutation the two should be around the same power level.

But back to their teaching, Arthur could only learn about knowledge and elemental spells while in his dreams. But here, with Dumbledore, Arthur got to freely fight, unleashing spells after spells, learning about some of his shortcomings and correcting most of them.

Ten minutes later, Arthur was left staggering because of his loss of magic, his body felt weaker than usual.

Arthur quickly thanked his new personal teacher and headed toward his house's common room. At first Arthur was afraid Elena would have been waiting or him but was relieved when he saw no one was in there waiting for him.

Arthur was very exhausted, but he still hesitated whether or not he should continue reading his book. In the end he decided to be reasonable and took his book with him to his room, and crashed into his bed, a the fatigue from the eventful night striking him down.
