Harry Potter And The Dual Lord

Chapter 40 - Traditions

"Are you suggesting I have schizophrenia?"

Elena frowned and asked "What is Schiz… Skizo… What you said." Arthur said "Schizophrenia. It is a mental problem which implies having multiple personalities."

Elena nodded "Then no, I am not. I don't know whether you are mentally sick or something, but the way you act sometimes is worrying. I mean, we were laughing with each other a moment ago, and then you decapitate someone. You could be sent to Azkaban for that if you were caught in Britain."

Arthur snapped his fingers and exclaimed "That's it. If I had been caught in Britain. I haven't. I'm not an idiot. And don't worry, I'm sure… well pretty sure I don't have multiple personalities. I may slightly overreact sometimes, but I am not mad. Or crazy. I'm a healthy human being."

Elena shook her head and said "You are impossible…"

The three quickly arrived to a coffee shop. Camilla told them to sit down and went to the counter. Apparently the similar aged vendor was her friend. While Camilla ordered what Arthur and Elena asked for, the two were silent.

In the end it was Elena who broke the silence by saying "I think I got it."

Arthur looked at her surprised and asked "What?"

Elena said "From the time we spent together, I have learned one thing, you only acts when there is a reason to do it. I don't believe you killed him just because he insulted me. If you had wanted to kill him for that reason then you would have killed him discreetly, out of everyone's view."

Arthur smiled "Then why did I kill him?"

Elena frowned and continued "You wouldn't have killed him if you only found him annoying and rude, you would have ignored him. But you killed him. And most importantly in front of everyone. So for whatever reason you killed him to gather attention. You wanted people to see you."

Arthur led back on his seat and asked "Is that all?" Elena nodded so Arthur said "Pretty good, yo guessed a part by yourself. Let me explain then."

Elena leaned forward, eager to know what Arthur had planned. Arthur began "As I told you before, it won't be long before people come to know of our absence of Hogwarts. Then Dumbledore will announce our special scholarship. It won't take a genius level intellect to guess that we were allowed this because of our talent."

Elena asked "Yes? So what?"

Arthur continued "What do you think the seven other schools will do? They won't want to be left behind. They will want to show the world that there isn't only Hogwarts who have geniuses. So the seven other schools will all send their best students around our age."

Elena said "But why did you kill him?"

Arthur explained "Remember what I used to buy my potions?"

Elena said "Where we will go?"

Arthur nodded "That's it. Now that I have killed that guy, every newspaper in the world will talk about the possible rise of another Dark Lord, one on the level of Grindelwald, and if they do then they are bond to talk about why we are here. Then the different schools will send their best students here. That's when Ishida will sell the info I gave him."

Elena was lost by now "You want them to come to us? Why?"

Arthur smiled "If I tell you now then I would spoil the surprise, wouldn't I? You will see. But now the only thing we can do is wait. So relax, enjoy your coffee and meet new people."

Elena sighed and shook her head. Sometimes Arthur could become so weird, it was like she was talking to someone who experienced life…

It didn't take long for Camilla to come back, three coffees in hand. She sat down next to Arthur and gave them their coffees.

When she finally sat down Arthur asked her "So, what did yo mean when you were talking about the Holly family? Didn't they disown my father?"

Camilla took a sip of her coffee and said "They did. And god the mess they made. But that's not the point. Disowning your father doesn't mean you, his son, isn't part of the family."

Arthur chuckled "It actually does." Camilla shook her head and said "In most cases, yes. But who knows why, the leader of the Holly family said that you are still part of the family."

Arthur frowned and asked "You know them?"

Camilla smiled and said "I am from the Vitello family, one of the governing families in Italy. Of course I know some members of the Holly family. But even if I didn't, I would still know your grandfather's words. Back when you were born he said that you were part of the family."

Arthur frowned and asked "Why? It doesn't make sense."

Camilla smiled and said "You are not accustomed to the clans ways of doing things. I shouldn't be the one telling you about your family, but I don't have a choice, do I?"

Arthur nodded so Camilla continued "The leader of a clan is called the Patriarch, and your clan/family Patriarch is your grandfather, John Holly. He had two sons, your father and your uncle, Henry and James. James had a daughter, Jessica, while your father had two children, you and your sister."

Arthur sighed and said "Go to the point."

Camilla smiled sadly and said "There can't be a Matriarch. Only Patriarch. Clear enough?"

Arthur frowned and said "You are telling me that because the next leader of the family must be a male, I was kept in the family? Because my cousin can't be the next leader?"

Camilla nodded and said "Actually, you aren't the only male of your generation. Before your uncle got Jessica, he had a son. A bastard. A bastard can't be the Patriarch. So you are the only eligible person who can become the Patriarch should something happen to your uncle."

Arthur rolled his eyes and said "When our we, the Dark age? What kind of shitty rule is that, not allowing women to rule… And why isn't my uncle conceiving another son?"

Camilla replied "His wife became infertile when she gave birth to Jessica."

Arthur asked "Is it like that in every family?"

Camilla nodded "Indeed. Traditions they call it. Before women were openly considered as inferior to men and thus unable to lead correctly. Even around the world, you would hardly find female Ministers of Magic throughout time."

Arthur said "And they wonder why we make no advancement. With minds like those we won't get anywhere… Tell me, what do you think shall be done to remedy the situation, Camilla?"

Camilla was astonished by the question, and after a few seconds of consideration she replied hesitatingly "Bring power to women? Or women to power?"

Arthur smiled and said "No, absolutely not."

This time Camilla was confused and Arthur explained "That would only be changing the sides, but the problem would remain. The answer is equality. Neither men or women must be above the other one. A man shouldn't have advantages compared to women, but the opposite is true as well."

Camilla was enlightened and said "That's brilliant!"

However, out of her expectations, Arthur shook his head again and said "It sounds brilliant, but it doesn't work."

Camilla frowned and asked "Why? Everyone would be equal, no discrimination would be made and…"

Arthur shook his head and said "Giving one liberty is taking it from another."

Camilla opened her mouth, trying to retort, but nothing came. She couldn't talk back.

Arthur sighed and said "Don't get depressed. It doesn't mean nothing can be ameliorated. For example that Patriarch thing, it's easy to overcome, you only need a spark to lit up the movement. As for changing the ways of the world and bring equality? You still have a lot of time."
