Arthur looked at Merlin and asked unsure "What gods are you talking about?"

Merlin rolled his eyes and replied "Have you already forgotten your teachings?"

Arthur shook his head and said "I just thought of them as legends, myths…"

Merlin smiled and said "Like muggles thinks I never existed?" Arthur nodded and Merlin said "Well they exists, tell me, which ones did I teach you about?"

Arthur replied "There's the Greek and Roman pantheons, that are actually the same. Then there are the Asgardians…"

Merlin shook his hands and said "Okay, okay, you know the lesson. Let me tell you, those two pantheons really exists. I don't know where they are in your times, but they always have been in Olympia. The thing is that Olympia moves. The first access to it was Mount Olympia."

Arthur added "Then the North Gods are in Asgard just like the Greeks are in Olympia?" Merlin shook his head and said "No, The Olympians are actually an exception amongst the different pantheons. They are the only one with a direct access to the Earth.

Asgard is in another dimension that can't be reached by us mortals, unless we use a powerful enough magic that could go through dimensions."

Arthur asked "What kind of strength would this ask?"

Merlin shrugged and said "The peak of the 2nd level for normal wizards, and mid 2nd level for those who mutated like us. Unfortunately you also need to breach their layer of protection, and that would either need a 3rd or 4th mutation to be possible."

Arthur frowned "Then aren't Greek gods weaker than the others?"

Merlin shook his head and said "No, they aren't. We may be mortals, we wizards are by far the best in term of magic, and even us can't make unbreakable barriers. Those gods only rely on their own power to make those barriers, but even if they are made by the strongest gods, even the weakest gods can destroy those."

Arthur asked "Then why do they bother putting them up?" Merlin replied "Because an assault wouldn't be lead by a god unless he wants to get ambushed by a whole pantheon and die. It is made to stop those minions like the Valkyries."

Arthur got up and said "Then why don't the Olympians have one of those?" Merlin chuckled and said "Because they have the strongest army there is."

Arthur looked at him and Merlin continued "The demigods. Children with one human and one god as their parents. Those people are fearsome, and they are a lot. Every demigod has the power of the peak 1st mutation at least, the ones from the three leading gods start at level 2."

Arthur looked at him in shock and Merlin said "That's why they keep an access to our world. To nurture those children."

Arthur sighed and said "Then aren't we too weak, us wizards?" Merlin laughed and said "Don't underestimate us dear disciple of mine, we wizards are the most fearsome."

"How so?" Merlin smiled and said "You people think I am the strongest wizard to have ever existed, right?"

Arthur nodded and Merlin said "Then you are most probably wrong or I would be speaking to you still alive. Through a divination I have found that your world has only one person on ten who mutates and becomes a wizard. Do you know what our mutation actually is?"

Arthur nodded and Merlin said with a crazy voice "A return to the origins! At the beginnings of humanity humans never had to mutate at 11, each and everyone of them would have magic in them since birth. They were stronger than anyone in present times and the 3rd mutation wasn't even the best."

Arthur couldn't believe what he heard. He thought he was in Harry Potter? How come so many things were changed? No, not changed… Just that they were never mentioned before.

Merlin added "Unfortunately a war broke out between humans and Gods. We were the strongest back then, but we eventually lost when the different pantheons allied against us. We killed every god that existed in their pantheons, but we got sealed, and now there only exists the pantheons allied to us.

But being sealed isn't that bad either. Even though less people become wizards and we are weaker in general, it was all for this day. For you, my disciple. You, are an unprecedented talent in human history. You have your body affiliated with two different elements…"

Arthur blinked and said "Wait… Wait.. Hold on… What are you saying?!" Merlin smirked and said "Okay, I was teasing you toward the end. In fact it's the worst curse there is to be sealed, there wasn't anything done for you in particular. But the rest is true."

Arthur clenched his fist and said "Master, you…" Merlin held a finger and Arthur calmed down before asking "What are the remaining factions?"

Merlin replied "Well apart from those I told you about, there's also the Biblical God, that god damned bastard, as well as the Devil. So in our time there are four main forces."

Arthur nodded and asked "Then how did you get a god's corpse?"

Merlin smiled and said "Well of course I couldn't get to any of the godly domains like Asgard or Olympus and return alive, but I was lucky. As I told you before, wizards are the best in magic. Among the gods, there was one who was very interested in Magic, called Odin. I taught him some simple fire magic and he rewarded me with the corpse of a god from ancient times, an Egyptian."

Arthur sat back as he feared he would fall if he didn't, and asked "Aren't you overwhelmed by all of this? I mean… What does our lives mean if we are so useless?"

Merlin patted his shoulder and said "Well, first I'm dead so… I don't really care. But you're right, I was lie you when I learned all of this. But I decided to continue, want to know why?"

Arthur nodded and Merlin said "Because, every wizard has a common goal to achieve, unseal humanity. It seems I have failed, but not entirely as I'm teaching you."

Arthur sighed and laid back on his sit, thinking over what he learned. Initially he wanted to do like in those fan fictions he read and just lay back and follow the golden trio in their adventures to beat Voldemort and later on live long and have a beautiful wife like Hermione or another chick.

But it seems it's going to be impossible. Arthur just discovered that there was so much more to the world. And from his experience in reading and considering his situation, having been reborn, having cheat like advantages and Merlin as a teacher, he obviously will be the MC of this world.

Whether he wants to or not he will fight those gods, and try to unseal humans. No rich life where he can relax on the beach, no here he will have to fight against those damn gods!

As Arthur was thinking about his future Merlin said laughing "Don't lose yourself thinking about destiny, live to the present day."

Arthur nodded hearing him, weeping his cold sweat. Merlin was right, there was no point on mulling over the future. For the seven following years he will be in Hogwarts and will have to follow the original characters he knew.

It will be 'easy' comparing to what his future holds, but fighting against Death Eaters isn't his cup of tea either.

That why Arthur knows that he has to do everything he can to improve himself but also to stay alive. He has multiple weapons for this, and Merlin is one of them.

Merlin looked at his student and said "Now that you don't have this pain anymore, let's teach you something essential, Oclumency and Legilimency."
