Hero Or Villaness

Chapter 10 - The Sinner

The uttermost confusion came into the Emperor's eyes as I said that but still, I continued to talk while the storm is trying to prevent the Emperor from hearing me but still I continued "I indeed killed your wife, the Empress but she requested me to. "

The Ex-Emperor's eyes widen upon hearing my words. "N-no i-it c-can't"

"N-no" The Ex-Emperor said again a little louder. His eyes looked crazy but for some reason, it also looked a little expectant like they knew this already for a long time. "N-no! S-she-"

"She hated you, father." My words rang through the walls while the Ex-Emperor said nothing while I saw his whole body trembling even more.

"She almost started another war....." I stopped trying to say the next words but something was holding me back. My body trembled a bit then I finally said. "B-because you never let her go..."

The Ex-Emperor still said nothing as I talked looking at the Emperor. "But still even if you knew that already knew that father that she loathed you. Still why?!?"

"A-as you said we have the same weakness..." The Ex-Emperor said looking straight into my eyes finally speaking up. I said nothing and allowed him to continue. "If you are coming here to explain before you are going to kill me isn't that mean your plan has succeeded, Arista?"

"Yes, it has...." I said.

"So let's have one last game shall we?" The Ex-Emperor said bringing out a chessboard. "You can tell me while we play...but before that tell me Arista why are you doing all of this?"

"Because I am the greatest sinner and traitor of the Empire..." I said smiling sadly at my first father and my last.

The snow fell down on Athan's clothes while my whole body trembled. I got up and tripped a bit feeling all hope lost. Maybe this was my punishment for betraying the people I love and betraying and lying to the person I love the most who gave me the world. This is my punishment and I must pay for it but still...why Athan?!?

I thought as I clutched him tighter on my c.h.e.s.t trying to go to the next town even under the dress and trembling in the cold. I walked and walked then I bumped into something hard.

"W-who-" The man said sitting on a carriage as he saw me my lifeless eyes looking at him. "Miss do you need a ride?" The man asked looking at Athan as I clutched him tighter. I looked up and abandoned my pride and said "P-please s-save h-help m-me A-athan..."

As I said that tears streamed down on my face. I hate myself that my punishment has been pushed to Athan.

I hate myself because until now I can't still do anything to protect the people I love.

I hate myself that I am so pathetic.

I hate myself because I am still so weak... While thinking all of that I didn't notice I said Athan's real name.

"Oh my... w-who is this dear? And that poor kid..." A pregnant said coming outside the carriage. "D-dear don't come out the baby..."

"It's fine stop being overprotective!" The pregnant woman said screaming at her husband. "Hurry come on... you must be freezing!"

I looked at them and I smiled and said as I got up on the carriage "T-thank y-you..."

"Don't mention it... mothers must always stick with each other right? " The Pregnant woman said as she held her stomach and looked up at me. "Oh, I feel so embarrassed my name is Kjiva!" Kjiva said to me as she extended her hand.

"I-I am... Arista b-but you can call me Tia." I said as I shook her hand reluctantly. "Thank you, Lady Kjiva but my son-"

Kjiva's widen as she saw Athan wrapped around on my arms tightly. "Benji! Hurry the poor boy is freezing!!!" As Kjiva said that the carriage started traveling faster. A few minutes felt like a hundred years for me as a single tear fell.

"I am sorry, mam but I am afraid I do not know the disease that your son has." The doctor said to me. "Y-you, w-what?"

"I do not know, I am sorry but you can go to the capital and-"

With that, I held the old man's shirt and screamed "Aren't you the best doctor in this town?!? If so HEAL MY HIM!!!"

"I-i a-am s-sorry b-"

"Just stop saying your sorry and heal him!!!" I screamed again without noticing I released my killing intent.

"P-please s-spare m-me" The doctor said shivering.

"S-stop saying your s-sorry and d-do something... " I said as my whole body trembled and released him a bit.

"P-please..." I begged once more as I released him and started crying. Just punish me instead, world! Not Athan... of all people, Athan.

"Doctor, you said the capital might know his disease?" Kjiva said as she stood up after she saw me crying.

"Y-yes..."

"Then we shall go to the capital." Kjiva said as she helped me up. "Get a hold of yourself, Tia."

"W-why?"

"I already told, didn't I? Mother's should stick with mother's." Kjiva said and smiled and during that one moment, I thought I just saw an angel in disguise as a human and with that I got Athan who was lying down on the bed and left.

"I-i do not know how to thank-"

"Don't thank me just yet... because we still need to get there." Kjiva said as she went inside the carriage. Then as soon as the door shut behind her the carriage started moving once more.

"I think I didn't tell you yet but I am a merchant too so you should know this ride is not free." Kjiva said.

"I know." I nodded looking serious. Then all of a sudden Kjiva started laughing. I looked at her feeling confused.

"D-don't look so serious..." Kjiva said as she stopped laughing wiping a tear from her eyes. "Don't worry this is free and I will help you go there only and just help you go to the hospital."

So in short, you are saying won't pay for Athan's medical fee. I smiled and said "Don't worry I won't ask for money from you. "

"A very Straight forward person, I see," Kjiva said as she held her stomach again.

"Believe me, I am a person a far from straight forward." I said.

"I know..." Kjiva said and that took me back a bit and rose my eyebrow. "Because your eyes show even more wisdom than any person I have seen that even beats the elderly."

"What a strange and peculiar description of my eyes, Miss Kjiva." I said as I held Athan a bit tighter trying to cover his eyes.

"Not only you have the eyes of someone who has suffered a lot." Kjiva said looking at my light brown eyes.

"Well, that for one is true." I laughed as I looked that we are already out of the town and inside the forest.

"I knew it I have a knack for-" The carriage halted with that Athan's cloak came off as I put them back on immediately.

"Stop this carriage right NOW! Give us all the women inside and the treasures or else we will kill you all!" A bandit said. My eyes widen as I heard that.

"No matter what will happen don't come out, okay Kjiva?" I heard Kjiva's husband said. Before Kjiva could say anything I heard his drawing a sword and my eyes widen even more. Is he crazy?!?

Then suddenly I heard Kjiva's husband screaming "Let g-"

"Come out!!! I have got your coachman!" Bandit no. 2 voice shouted.

"If you don't we will kill him!!!"

I put Athan down as I held the dagger that was under my cloak all this time. I looked at Kjiva who was trembling and whispered "M-my b-baby"

"Don't worry about your baby, Kjiva. I will return a favor right now because mothers should help other mother's right?" I said and smiled as I covered Athan's face more and looked at Kjiva and said one more "Everything is going to be all right. Just don't look outside all right?"

With that, I left and saw Kjiva's Husband, Benji who was tied up by a tree as bait. I looked around and I sensed at least twenty men around us.

No... there are at least more than twenty. Twenty-six or twenty-five perhaps? I saw a sword beside me and smirked. How long has it been since I used a sword?

I grabbed the sword and held it in front of me and said "Come out all of you! You think you can stop me!?! You little pieces of sh*t!"
