Streetlights are hazy in the light snowfall. Ice delicately covers the walkways and roads. The smooth moon is an adornment hung in the 12 PM sky and the flakes pours down like seasonings to the world.

Mr Fu brought out the girl from his car to meet her father. "Mr Fu, it's been a while" Haru said from the distance and the Elder waved.

"Daddy!!!" The girl exclaimed as she ran towards her father and ended up knocking him down. Haru kissed her forehead before looking back at Mr Fu. "Thank you for bringing her to me"

"You both know each other?"

"Yes Dear. I worked with him for a while and I still had his contact. Once you told me his name, I was sure it had to be him."

Haru got up but still held unto his little girl's hand. "This is risky Mr Yang. Her mother isn't in the right state of mind. I'm just reminding you that she could do anything, even something bizarre." As the two men conversed the girl looked at the water underneath the bridge that looked still but Her father pulled her away from the edge to prevent chances of her slipping and tumbling off.

Haru nodded at the man's statement about extent of Meilin's craziness "Yeah I know. She'll be back home in the evening. I promise" Mr fu turned to leave and Haru did the same with Li Na following. The path they walked on sparkles and crunches, like sugar underfoot, and the coolness brings a nice chill but the spark of warmth was always present despite the season. Especially when someone finds his or her inner happiness.

their breath rises in visible puffs to join the darkened clouded night as the pair conversed about their lives after being apart for five years. they pulled their woollen hats over their reddened hair and tightened their scarves over their blue-tinged lips. Teeth chatters as they continued to make their way down the icy black road to reach Haru's car that was parked at a distance.

He was skeptical about taking his daughter to bakano, but his apartment was actually in a good condition for a suburb area.

The icy Winter cold howled through the street, which was covered with fluffy snow that was like a untouched blanket. The pair made their way out of the car as soon as Haru pulled to a stop.

Li Na was tired and her father helped carry her up the three floors before he got to his own private residence. He turned the lights on and activated the heater as he placed the girl down on her feet. "You need to sleep so we can have lots of fun tomorrow okay dear?" Li Na nodded as he led her to an average sized bed then tucked her in.

Li Na loved the winter season, the hot chocolate with marshmallows melting into the whipped cream, blankets dr.a.p.ed over her body, and a brilliant book being read. Her only wish was for her parents to be by her side, with love and care, not hatred and misunderstanding.

"What's wrong?" Haru noticed the girl that seemed to have zoned out from reality and as soon as heard his voice she shook her head the giggled.

"Daddy all you have to do is promise me we'll be a happy family"

The male smiled as his daughter sat up "Don't worry too much. I'll sort it all out with your mother soon"

"I hope" They both knew how stubborn and proud she was. She might not give them both a chance to explain but all they could do was hope for the best.

The next morning, Haru was up early getting breakfast ready. He got some toasts and butter ready, boiled eggs and hot cocoa for his daughter.

The toddler was still fast asleep in her bed and he'd check on her from time to time. She was quite beautiful, just like her mother.

She sat up yawning and stretching. Doing a brief morning routine before she got off the bed. "Morning Daddy" She greeted the man and he smiled as he walked towards her.

He kissed her forehead and led her out of the room. They both went to the dinning room and he sat her down before he took a seat.

They said a short prayer before they took a nibble from their toasts. Haru's phone rang and he answered "hello Mr Fu..." his smile turned to a frown and he hung up.

Li Na tilted her head wondering why he was suddenly troubled but Haru simply shook his "It's nothing...absolutely nothing. Everything's fine" He smiled, although pretending but his daughter saw it as a genuine expression.

Mr fu only called to let him in on some devastating news. Sooner or later, police would barge in and put him in cuffs. No one other than Meilin had something to do with it.

He didn't want Li Na to know the cause of his sudden distress because it would ruin the morning for her. He was tensed, his hands shook as he ate and sweat formed on his forehead. It was uncomfortable for him to think and act properly because of the fear of ending up in jail for God knows how long.

"Dad are you okay?" Li Na asked and haru gave a weary grin before stuffing his egg in his mouth to make her laugh a little. He was finally traced by the police, took them over night to do it and Meilin probably was up all through.

"Shit" he cussed silently as he heard heavy knocks at the door. "Hey Darling, I just need you to wait here for the mean time. Daddy has to go answer the door okay" He kissed her cheek before leaving and the girl nodded as she continued with her meal. She swung her legs playfully and continued to eat elatedly but her heart skipped a beat the moment she heard her mom's voice.

She was back again. Always to ruin the bond between her father and herself. Meilin's hand cracked across Haru's face. It was an open handed slap, left a red welt and was as loud as a clap.

Haru once again stood speechless. The anger in her eyes revealed the fragile woman she really was. The woman who was pushed around by men like Haru and starved for love and care but not everyone was willing to give it to her the way she wanted. The only person that did was Guiren but Haru selfishly took his life. The pressure of her raging anger was enough to make her say things out of control.

The police men tried to calm her down but she wasn't going to conceal her anger anymore. She'd let it all out, the way she wanted to.

"You bastard. You kidnapped my daughter! Where is she?"

"He didn't kidnap me!!!" Li Na screamed from a distance defending her father because she knew he wasn't the type of man her mother made him seem.

"He's brainwashed her, this mad man brainwashed her" She grabbed Haru and shook him a couple of times before breaking down completely "Why won't you just leave me alone. Leave my daughters alone...Why? Why did you have to come back into my life? Why? We were perfectly fine."

Haru tried to touch her shoulder but she shoved him away. "You can see, my daughter's here, in this man's filthy house doing God knows what..."

"MEILIN!!!" he raised his voice but Meilin did the same thing "WHAT'S YOUR SECRET MOTIVE HARU? YOU'RE SICK ENOUGH TO MOLEST YOUR OWN DAUGHTER"

Haru was disgusted from the ends of his hair to the nails on his toes. It breaks him to give up on her, but she went too far by saying such. In a subconscious gesture of disgust his nose wrinkled and he drew his head backwards "You know me more than this...is this really what you think of me? Did you really love me?"

"I never did" after she said those words, he shifted his gaze from her face "I will never look at you and I will never love you again. It's over, well for me because to you there was never 'we' to the story" Guiren was hurt deep. His lips curled as he fought the tears back.

He moved forward to the cops "Take me, but I'll see her in court." the heartbreak was cold, it was concrete drying in his c.h.e.s.t. She wanted him to suffer, and she also wanted to break his heart more than she already did. Unearned revenge. Misery for both. Guilt for Haru. Sadness for Meilin. Who wins? It's just relationship poison.
