88.2 Luck and Bad Luck is The Two Sides Of The Same Coin

“Everyone, I think you already know about this, but allow me to say it again. I have received a direct order from His Majesty to play the role of the saint during Saint Festival. As such, I have to tell everyone that I will back down from the class election for that role.”

“Just like Katrina, I have also received order to play the role of the Six Gods in the Saint Festival. The same goes for Miss Shelly and the others. They are also ordered to play the role of the attendants, the shrine maidens of the Saint. Thus, though I want to express my gratitude to you all who chose us as the representative up until now, we have to back down this time in order to fulfill His Majesty’s wish. Please bless us.”

Following after Katrina, Elliot stepped up on the podium and explained our situation.

Saint Festival was an event that was held to celebrate the advent of the Saint. It was an annual festival held every 1st day of the 5th month of the year. In this event, the one chosen to act as the Saint would go around the royal capital starting from the temple, all the way until the royal castle; wishing for the safety, peace, and prosperity of the kingdom.

In normal situation, the role of the saints would be decided by audition and all noble daughters from age of sixteen up to eighteen could participate. For example, during my parents academy era. At that time, it was done by audition, and both my father and mother were chosen as the Six Gods and Shrine Maiden respectively.

Incidentally, they often spoke fondly of those moment since that particular event was the moment they fostered their love. In fact, they became downright lovey dovey when they talked about those time. Still, yeah, I got your feeling Papa, Mama, but could you tone it down???

But since the real deal was here, it was an unilateral decision by the above that we would be the one doing this once we turn 16 years old. When asked, my father said that it was for the purpose of getting the oracle as fast as possible.

Additionaly, while the capital held the festival, the academy also held their own Saint Festival. It was held the day after ours was supposed to be done though. For the Saint Festival in the academy, the representative was chosen by the academy itself and the people chosen would go around the academy.

Anyhow, due to the decision from His Majesty, we couldn’t participate in the academy’s Saint Festival. Thus, in order to avoid messy situation later on, we decided to explain the situation today and told our classmate that we would back down from taking the role for the academy this year.

After all, up to this point of time, in the Saint Festival that the academy held, the role of the Saint, Six Gods, and the shrine maidens had always been monopolized by our group. Our peers had already given up on that matter.

However, the moment they heard Katrina and Elliot’s announcement, our classmates’ eyes shone brightly. With that, I realized that many of them actually wanted to become the leading actor/actress of the festival as well.

So, after Elliot and Katrina ended their announcement with a light nod, our classmates stood up at once and gave the two an astounding standing ovation.

“Leave it to us, Katrina-sama. Everyone will do their best in this festival. I shall bear the burden of playing the saint role myself!”

“Well, the role of the saint might be too much for you. You’re the class representative. You won’t be chosen as the academy representative. Give it up before you embarrass yourself.”

“No way, geez. Everyone’s jokes is rather overboard. I mean, the one who will play as the saint is me.”

The more confident noble daughters immediately started their own rivalries.

“Shelly-sama, everyone, please entrust the role of the shrine maiden to me. I’ll do my best to make the one who got the saint role will shine brighter.”

“Yes, I’ll definitely become the academy’s representative and make you proud. Please look forward to my performance.”

The less confident noble daughters quickly shifted their attention to the shrine maidens’ role.

“Your Highness Elliot, I don’t know if I’m worthy enough to replace you, but I’ll put my life on the line in order to uphold your perfect image from the previous year. Please, give me the command.”

“Nope, Your Highness, I’m more suitable as the successor of your role.”

“What are you talking about? My grade is better than both of you. Your Highness, please allow me—”

The male students were also asking for Elliot’s order. They literally created a ruckus in the class.

‘BAM’

The sound of someone hitting the table loudly immediately caused the classroom to fall into silence, and they looked toward the person who did that. It was Rex who caused the loud sound by hitting the teacher’s desk.

“BE QUIET! His Highness Elliot will explain the matter regarding the election. Everyone must listen carefully,” Rex announced as he scanned the class, forcing the standing students to nod and sit back in their seat with the force of his eyes.

After everyone was seated back in their seat….

“Everyone, I understand your feeling about wanting to get those roles. But, as you have already known, there’s a limited quota. And that number will be voted again with the representative from the other classes.”

It was exactly as stated. The representative of the academy was decided with election from the class representative of the nine class in the entire academy, which included the 2nd year and the 3rd year. So, most representative would come from the 3rd year. Although, according to Wendy, even the matter of deciding the class representative was enough to put a crack in the class’ relationship.

By the way, Wendy was chosen as the representative of the elementary division last year. She was in the 1st year, you know? And yet, she was actually chosen as the representative of the elementary division. It meant, she would be chosen again this year. As expected of my little sister.

Then again, she was originally a gentle, caring, and cute girl. So, why wouldn’t she be chosen?

“I know that you want to decide the role immediately, but one of our classmate is absent today. I think we should elect the class representative after that student come to the school.”

“If I’m not mistaken, it should be the girl who messed around with His Highness’ flower viewing.”

“Although I’ll be delighted if we don’t have to wait for that kind of person….”

“His Highness is simply too kind.”

The people, who had heard about the gossip, immediately started to whisper to each other in low voice. However, they looked down when Rex glared at them.

“Let’s decide with ‘Lottery’. Since everyone seems to be quite confident, let’s decide it with the most reliable method. Let our luck decide the result. No question asked,” Elliot stated, quickly returning to his seat.

Everyone was at a loss for words at that. However, they had no choice but to obey. Thus, with that concluded, Katrina and the girls also returned to their seat safely. After that, we listened to the lesson schedule the academy had set for us this year from our homeroom teacher, before we break up as it was.

For information, the idea of deciding the class representative for the Saint Festival using lottery was my idea. After all, this was the best and fastest way to decide.

In the end, in the lottery to decide the class representative later on, the pink-haired girl got the saint role. When I heard that, I cursed inwardly. ‘Dammit, that fella’s bad luck was strong.’

However, in the election for the academy representative that was held later on, her rank was rock bottom. From what I heard, it seemed the reason was the rumour about her that was spreading around.

Whew, that was close call. Ma~n, Elliot and the others’ line of sight was really painful there.
