Chapter 7 - Just A Normal Yaban Here...

...

Joshua has finally reached the village and is currently hiding in a bush near the entrance of the gate leading into the village.

Joshua was shocked by the size of the village as it was more appropriate to call it a middle sized town than a village.

'The village is a lot bigger than I thought. I can see two lazy guards on watch duty standing by the gate.'

Joshua found it odd at first that there was a gate facing an open field since there would be no merchants or anything that would come from the field as all that surrounds the field is a dense forest without any pathways.

But soon Joshua got his answer when he saw a somewhat pretty middle aged woman step out the gates with a basket.

She went towards the field, but not too far picking up the little red flowers that replaced the bloodshed during the night and putting them in her basket.

When she returned the guards checked her basket ant told her something, but Josh was too far away to hear contents.

'So there those flowers ARE special!'

'That aside, it's a bit shocking though that each guard has a domesticated big horned Yaban by their side and looking in the gate I can see small Yabans walking the streets following children.'

'At first when I saw Yabans I thought that they would make good pets, but to think that they are really kept as pets and even used as guard dogs...'

'On the bright side the humans look to be pretty civilized, I was a bit afraid that the humans of this world would be like ancient tribesmen.'

'They look to be about in the Middle Ages in earths time, as I don't see much technological developments as I can still see a wagon cart parked next to a large house at the side.'

It was at that moment that Joshua saw something shocking when he was peering into the village through the large open gates.

A man who just exited a house with an angry face waved his hand and a part of the ground rose up. The man proceeded to casually sit on the makeshift stool and and grumble angrily. Probably just coming out from and argument with his wife or a family member.

What Joshua also noticed was that nobody in the area seemed shocked at what the man was able to do. As if it was a natural occurrence.

'MAGIC! Could there be magic in this world? Is that why they don't seem to have developed much on technology? Or could it be he has a skill, but that brings up the possibility that everyone has a system in them or he just has the skill without the system.'

'Argh!'

'So many questions, but so little answers.'

'I need more information. If the system is really a universal thing than they would probably teach their kids about it in a kindergarten or school somewhere.'

'If I can get in there and find a school I could probably listen in on what they are teaching with my inherit skill.'

'They probably wouldn't suspect a little Yaban to listen in or understand their conversation anyways. Since they are keeping Yabans as pets it shows that Yabans as a race isn't too intelligent. At least not to the point where they can comprehend complex thoughts.'

'The only problem now is that I need to get into there first to carry out my plan. If I am stuck out here than my whole plan is thrown into the trash before it can even begin.'

Joshua hid outside of the gates trying to muster up the courage to try to walk in, but his insecurities stopped him everytime he was about to go.

'Won't they find me suspicious and just decide to kill me on the spot?'

'I see Yabans inside there, but they might be brought in by the parents to give to their kids. As of now I have yet to see a Yaban wander in here.'

'Makes sense though they are pretty lazy they wouldn't want to come in somewhere filled with a bunch of large strange creatures(humans).'

'Man up! At this rate in a few hours the sun will set and they will close the gates for nighttime. That would also mean I would have to spend another night out here!'

'Though there are less wolves here that doesn't mean there are none. One could just decide to come closer to the town tonight and happen upon me.'

'Wouldn't that mean I'm screwed? I don't think I can survive a wolf out here by myself. Plus it's not like I'm some kind of protagonist with plot armor. If another wolf happens upon me like the night with Ban then I'm 100% dead.'

'Screw it! It's go big or go home! In this case going home means to die...*sob*poor me...'

Joshua finally deciding to take action. He throws caution to the wind and walks out of the bush towards the gate trying to act as natural as he could.

As he walked in front of the gate, the two guards as well as the two big Yabans stopped to watch Joshua starring at him.

To Joshua it felt as if time had stopped and he started to recite his sacred mantra in his head.

'Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me.'

Joshua with his whole body soaked in cold sweat, felt that at this moment he was probably more faithful than he had ever been his whole life.

Luckily for Josh it seems that the guards did not care for him and quickly lost interest turning away, not bothering to give Joshua another glance.

Even the big Yabans just yawned at him and turned away.

Joshua seeing that he had been thrown off the chopping board wobbled his way inside as quick as he could while also not trying to look suspicious.

'Hahaha!! I'M IN!!! Mission impossible completed flawlessly if I do say so myself! You can call me agent 007 from now on hahaha!'

It would have been considered flawless if not for Joshua hiding in the bush for hours too afraid to walk in, but for now Joshua revels in his happy delusions.
