Limitless Human

Chapter 29 - Human Race

Rias was feeling conflict inside. She wasn't expecting for Ethan to be so cold with this people. He could have just said 'No' and be on his way. Never the less her heat didn't even for a second fl.u.s.tered at this scene as her love remained loyal and whole towards him.

The people were stunned at his actions making them even forget about the occurring apocalypse.

For the remaining of three hours, Rias and Ethan found a lot more of those insects as they killed every single of them and obtaining their crystals. They also saw a big rat one time. They were walking towards a supermarket when they found that there were munching sounds coming from the alley to the right.

There they found a big brown rat eating a girl in a student uniform. Ethan wanted to kill it, but the moment they found it, the rat abandoned his food escaping into the sewers of the city.

Ethan: It seems that the animals and creatures from Earth are also transforming.

Rias: Hmm.... it is strange.

Ethan: What?

Rias: Why isn't the same happening to the humans? I mean if there is a mutation occurring on the animals why not the humans?

Ethan: Hmm..... hahaha.....

Rias: What are you laughing at?

Ethan: I think that I know why the reason.

Rias: What is it?

Ethan: Simple. In almost every apocalypse there is a mutation that happens to certain percentage of the human population. Zombies.

Rias: Zombies? Aren't those creatures that belong to that Undead Race?

Ethan: Yes. You know there is something that happens in every novel or book that I read.

Rias: What is it?

Ethan: Humans always win in the end. And the reason behind it is that they might be the weakest race among the rest in case of physical features and intelligent with the addition of some races, but there is something interesting about them.

Rias: Huh?

Ethan: Adaptation. We can use or learn all kinds of power. There was a time where I read about a Cultivation World and theirs skills came from observing monsters moving a certain way. They then evolve and improve such ways while inventing new ones.

Rias: So basically we might not receive benefits like the animals mutation but we have our own?

Ethan: Yes. At least that was what I read in those books and novels. But you need to know that we no longer aren't in a kind of book or novel. Variables exist and heroes no longer are born only in the Human Race. They may appeared in others races.

Rias: Then.... how are we suppose to face them?

Ethan: Easy. Power. We could maintain the balance of everything and stop the existence of heroes but doing so would limit our growth and make it so that we would be weak to others. One of the things that everyone respects and submit to is power. Absolute power.

Rias: Like our situation.

Ethan: Exactly. What can we do to God right now? Nothing. Even in the future unless we get out of his hands we can't still be nothing more than mere puppets in his hands. Do you think that in the case that a existence capable of threatening him is born. He will do nothing?

Rias: Of course not. He would do everything in his power to eliminate such existence to continue being at the top.

Ethan: You are right. The same thing can be said to someone that escapes his clutches.

Rias: So we will be puppets of his to the rest of our lives?

Ethan: For now. For now.

Hearing Ethan voice brought confidence again to Rias while she noticed a hint of depression in it.

Rias: Ethan.....

Ethan: Let's go. Three hours have passed.

Rias: Okay. "I just hope to be able to help you shoulder some of the weight you are carrying in your back."

Ethan: "I will do everything in my power to live my life on my own without anyone on top of me controlling every move I make!"

Scavenging a little the supermarket they manage to fill their bags up and the Dimensional Pouch of Ethan a little. They had search back in the shop but there was nothing like the Dimensional Pouch available there, making it so that they had to use their backpacks or bags to transport their resources.

BOOM

HA

Rushing back to the appointed place. They passed by a place that explode as a woman walked out of a gas station in flames.

Ethan was a little stunned at her sight. She was extremely beautiful woman with dark skin. She seemed around 30 years making it so that her body was still young but rip as f.u.c.k with her big b.o.o.b.s and a.s.s exposed a little from her yellow dress.

Rias: HUMM!

Rias faking clearing her throat glared at Ethan with the corner of her eye.

Ethan seeing this got off his stunned state as he merely looked at Rias from the corner of his eye meeting the glare of Rias.

Ethan: Hmph, I know your feelings and I also wouldn't like that you do something like I did in front of me but don't get ahead of yourself. You should know what I want.

Rias: Hmph. Whatever. Like you said. I simply don't like you doing in front of me.

Ethan: You better get used to it or leave. In that department you better don't expect much from me. Trust is something that can't be obtained in a mere moment or begged.

Saying this Ethan turned back his attention to the beautiful woman in yellow dress that continue running which was also in their direction. Immediately a insect came out of the burning gas station after her.

Ethan didn't say anything as he jumped to the insect killing it instantly with a swing of his sword.

The woman in yellow dress in terror looked behind to see if the terrifying creature was coming after her when she saw the sight of Ethan cutting down the insect.

Ethan: Let's go.

Suddenly Rias appeared beside Ethan as they jumped away from the area, leaving the woman stunned by the sight she just saw.

???(Woman): "They can't be humans. They must be angels, especially that young men. He should be a true angel sent by the heavens to protect us from this disaster."

Finishing her thoughts she only could see their shadows in the distance. Steeling her will the woman started walking towards the direction they went.

Rias: Ethan?

Ethan: What?

Rias: What about the crystals?

Ethan: What about them?

Rias: We don't know their use.

Ethan: We can't do better. It would better that we had a scientist or a researcher in our group to investigate this kind of stuff. Never the less we don't need to worry.

Rias: Huh? Why not?

Ethan: I don't know if you saw or even remember the amount of points I had from the Ranking Scoreboard.

Rias: Oh, it was the highest amongst everyone followed right behind by Hugh and Mike.

Ethan: Exactly. I may have spent some points in giving all of you the bundles and files, but I still kept around 1 Billion points to play with.

Rias: Oh... you should show us some day.

Ethan: I don't mind.
