My Princess In The Golden Cage

"But I don't feel weak. In fact, I can sense the energy growing inside my body." She argued.

"Argh! You're so difficult to pursue." Amy rolled her eyes while watching the grumpy little face and sighed faintly before saying, " Do you want to hear something exciting? I haven't informed you clearly regarding the system, did I?"

She raised her head and looked around "No, you haven't."

"Actually the system is connected to your soul and It'll only activate if you complete the two tasks after you wake up." She enunciated each word clearly.

"What are the two tasks?" She looked perplexed.

"First, You need to build your own empire and second, you need to strengthen yourself." Her words rang in the ears for a long time, she was excited since she always wanted to set up her own company from scratch and display others of her capabilities.

"So what if I don't do it?" she questioned while frowning. For some reason, she suddenly had a bad premonition regarding her next words.

"Oh? Nothing much then it's just that you'll have to give up on your life." Amy giggled as she explained.

Hearing the statement, she was extremely dumbfounded.

'Sister? Didn't you simply say it would be exciting? Then why do I have a feeling like this is something terrifying?' She thought inwardly.

'What?" She felt as if she was struck by lightning. Her entire being froze at the unexpected statement.

Peering at her dumb expression, a boisterous laugh spread inside the spacious bubble.

Snapping out of the shock, she asked cautiously, "Are you serious?"

The changes in her expressions were really rapid just like the weather. Amy had an urge to laugh again but she restrained herself after looking at the pitiful face. She took a deep breath and said, "Yes and moreover you have only 2 years to complete this."

"Wh-What?" She stuttered.

'What have I done to deserve this? It's all because of that devil. If not for him, I would've been living my life peacefully by now. Lying on the enormous bed with numerous handsome faces around me with one feeding me gr.a.p.es and the other displaying his s.e.xy body while pole dancing. Now I truly regret the things I've done in my life.'

She wept bitterly inside her heart. As she imagined those scenes with those handsome men, her heart ached badly.

Her ever-changing expressions were a funny sight to watch. Amy laughed out loud for a long time.

Sighing heavily to herself, she said, "Alright, stop laughing. How Am I supposed to complete the first task? Don't you think it's a little unfair?"

After much effort, she finally restrained herself and continued, "That's exactly why you have me. My task is to help you accomplish these, so you can move ahead and activate the system. After you activate the system, you'll be rewarded and then you're issued with a few more tasks."

"Will this be forever?" She was quite displeased at the arrangement.

Amy didn't speak for quite a while before uttering, "No. Once you pass every test and obstacle, you'll be set free." As she spoke, she could feel her heartache immensely.

She wished she could stay by her side forever and protect her from every evil creature in this world but that wasn't possible. She had her personal reasons which she couldn't say out loud since she knew that the lady wouldn't believe her and also because of the lingering dangers around her.

She knew if she did so, then every step she would take would lead her into a fatal trap.

She excused herself and left the place after informing her clearly regarding the system.

"Why do I feel so strange?" The lady mumbled just after the soul left.

Ever since their first encounter, she had a nagging feeling inside her heart. She felt as though she was going to face something huge very soon in her future. She also felt a sense of familiarity and familial love towards the soul. Leaning her head on her hand, she sighed inwardly.

'How did our lives change so much? Jonah? If not for her appearance, would you still have married me?' Her lonely figure emitted a depressing aura. She fell into trance while contemplating over the past.

"Nathan? how's her condition now?" Curtis inquired.

"Much better. Her vitals are working perfectly and might wake up anytime soon." He was ecstatic at her fast recovery.

" Will she suffer from amnesia after waking up?" He was anxious.

"I can't say that for now. Let's just wait and see."

"Alright," Curtis said as he glanced at the young lady sleeping peacefully.

'Please wake up. We need you.'

Even since the incident, life turned unruly. Several issues cropped up, few required her personal assistance. Watching the beautiful woman lying motionlessly, he sighed ' you need to recover soon... Maximus needs you.'

Two years have passed since the incident but the man never left the place. In this span of time he never once returned to his own city and decided to work in the branch company.

Even though he knew that she was engaged to another man in the country Z, he couldn't stop himself from extending his visit to this branch as he subconsciously believed that she would return back the country. After that unfateful day, he sent every elite guard of his family in search of the woman but unfortunately, he couldn't find a single trace.

Gazing at the garden outside the window, he drifted back in his memories.

In City A,

After a long day of work, the young man walked out of his company. The mission of saving the branch company from the verge of bankruptcy was a success. He walked on the pavement before reaching the garden just across the street.

He watched as the children ran around holding colorful balloons and toys while some sliding and swinging. He strolled inside the huge park, his eyes roamed around before halting on the beautiful being leaning against the metal railing of the bridge above the pond.

The pond was packed with white lotuses floating on the surface whilst the fishes swam around in the water.

The lady looked thin and fragile. She stood there dressed in a simple white top coupled with a black ripped jeans and a subtle smile on her face. Her hair was left untied and swayed gently along with the breeze.

The young man was captivated at the sight of her angelic face. His heartbeat quickened as his gaze lingered on her face for a long time.

Sensing the blazing gaze in her direction, she raised her head and peered into his eyes before smiling gently.

As soon as their eyes met, the fuse in his brain went swalla la but still, he was left with a tiny amount of consciousness which was soon swept away glimpsing her brilliant smile.

Glancing the dumb man standing rooted to the ground, she laughed out loud before striding out of the garden.

The sound of tingling bells rang out in his mind as she laughed, his sight followed along with her until she disappeared.

Snapping out of the daze, his sight fell on the original spot and redness crept upon his face as he recalled his dumb reaction.

After the beautiful encounter, the young man frequented the garden in hopes of sighting the woman for a long time but she never appeared again.

Snapping back, he peered out of the window and stepped out the vehicle.

"Sir, The Langston's wanted to collaborate with our subsidiary multimedia company." Edward followed behind his boss into a fancy looking restaurant.

"Reject them." He coldly replied before sauntering into the private room.

"Yes, sir." Then he bowed and left.
