New Emperor Of Ghouls

Whilst both sides were fighting their soldiers or members of the pack had come to watch the fight, they didn't join the fight out of respect for their leaders, they knew that their leader had been looking for an exciting fight for a while now.

Wu Lin had been watching the fight and had come to respect the lintho. 

Their leader could fight on par with his majesty showing him their potential. 

Initially, he had come to support his majesty and clear up the remaining Linthos. 

However, he could not intervene in his king's fight at all, he could sense the excitement radiating from both participants, and he was pretty sure any interventions would backfire.

What puzzled him most was the other Linthos watching from the side. They didn't attack him. Instead, it looked like they were discussing the battle amongst themselves, from the combination of growls, roars, hisses and this 'augh' sound they make to each other. 

He saw the intelligence in the eyes of the 30 here, unlike the crazed ones that attacked him and the others in the clearing or the forest.  

They didn't attack him when he approached which was puzzling in itself. It looked like they were even calling him over. How did he know? Their nods, he just knew it meant follow for some reason. 

'Maybe they will lead me to  their den then I will kill all of them,' the cunningness In his eye was well hidden.

Cautiously he followed them, remaining a couple metres away in case of an unforeseen attack. 

Wu Lin didn't have to follow for long because he came up to a cave.

 The cave was covered with green moss, blending it into the surroundings of the ancient green forest. 

When he came close the cave, his nose picked up a familiar scent. He knew whose scent belonged to and was immediately put on guard.

"It's a trick, he's dead. These cunning bastards."' 

No matter how much he wanted to believe it, he couldn't. 

His kagune was already out, starting pointedly at the uncaring Linthos. Which unsettled him, who wouldn't care if a stranger like himself was pointing a weapon at them.

'Brother Shi was dead and their incompetence was the reason. His body is in there and I will take it back, forcefully if I have to,' thought Wu Lin. It was the least he could do to redeem a bit of the guilt he was feeling. 

That same guilt had been eating away at his confidence since Brother Shi's disappearance, he travelled the closest to Brother Shi and never noticed when he was no longer there. While he was coming up with a plan to retrieve his comrade's body back, the green moss parted in the middle to reveal a head. It was wrapped in what seemed like a large leaf that covered the right side of his head with dried blood on it.

"BROTHER SHI!!!!!" 

Wu Lin's animosity and defensive attitude instantly evaporated. He ran towards the injured Ghoul and hugged him, not caring whether it was an illusion or not. 

"Whathappenedyouwasthereandthenyouwerentandiblamedmyse..."

"Got attacked and got rescued," Shi hào interrupted Wu Lin before his mind exploded from with a simple explanation. 

Wu Lin instantly eased up. The man before him was a man of few words, so his manner of speech added up, but he wasn't completely void of all suspicions.

"Come we have to go, Captain and the others are still fighting the Lint…"

He paused realizing where he was. Wu Lin turned to look at the surrounding monsters. Unknowingly to him, more linthos had shown up, and he was surrounded. 

"Ummm, I mean the captain is having a friendly meeting, no killing whatsoever," the pitch of his voice went higher till the end, when even the surrounding Linthos looked at him with mirth in their eyes.

A small Lintho struggled to walk towards Wu Lin. Its small size made it look extremely cute, especially the little flames that came out of its nose, when it sneezed.

The cute monster distracted him from drawing a correlation to the attack on the mining village.

Wu Lin was unsure what to do with the situation, the cute little monster was rubbing its head against his foot, while looking him in the eye with their big round ones, reflecting the sunlight. 

He watched as Brother Shi walked to the little one and picked it up. He cradled the little one in his arms and gently swayed his arms side to side. 

Wu Lin just looked at the big Burly man cradling the tiny beast in his arms. 

"I was right!! I always knew he was a teddy bear underneath all the muscle," thought Wu Lin. 

"Wait a minute," Struck by a moment of realization.  "This complicates everything. Captain is still slaughtering those crazy Linthos at this moment. Or even worse, he finished and is on his way here. Plus his majesty, is having a life and death battle with their leader."

The aftershocks of the ongoing battle could still be felt from here. 

From the expressions on both Brother Shi's face and the Linthos, it was like they don't care. Or maybe…'Nonono, may such traitorous thoughts should perish along with my inner demons'

Wu Lin could feel his hair falling out from all the overthinking and straying thoughts. 

"First things first, his majesty should be warned." With that thought in mind. He ran towards the direction of his majesty, missing his captain and the others who followed their senses to the cave and saw Brother Shi surrounded by younglings.

Both happy and confused, they sat down and interrogated the man. But only got the short and concise version. "Got attacked and got rescued"

Panting heavily, Zhong Yi looked at the Leader Linthos.

His anger was renewed when he saw the fire come out of its mouth. However, he also had a hint of respect for it.

At this point, numerous wounds decorated his skin and if you looked closely, they were healing up at a very slow rate. 

They would've healed faster if he had more spirit energy in his body. 

Zhong Yi knew he got carried away. He didn't have any time left to make it to the pyramid. Plus, he was split up from the rest of his soldiers.

The announcement distracted Zhong Yi for a second. But that second was all the Lintho needed.

It charged at Zhong Yi so quickly, the air was split in half. 

It appeared in front of him and swiped at his c.h.e.s.t, cutting through his c.h.e.s.t but couldn't go any deeper because his kagune had already held the arm in place.

In retaliation, while one of his purple kagune head the arm back, the other one pierced its c.h.e.s.t heading directly towards its heart.

"Your majesty!!!" The shout made Zhong Yi pause for a second again.

The Lintho took it as its chance to get away. Its body was already exhausted and that attack made it lay limply on the ground.

On the other hand, Zhong Yi had enough energy to go one more round and he would've, if not for the subordinate blocking his way.

Suddenly, flashes of light illuminated the entire region. 

Wu Lin was surprised, the lights were so bright that he had to cover his eyes for a bit.The Lintho leader was just as surprised but never showed on its face or in its eyes because it saw Zhong Yi didn't react at all.

Out of nowhere, a city appeared in the distance, shocking the three. 

All of them already knew the players were coming from the voice. Only one of them knew that they were players and even he didn't know a whole city would accompany them.

The city looked ancient. Its walls were covered in moss and vines. He couldn't see it clearly, but on the walls were figures moving about.

"Wu Lin explain" demanded Zhong Yi in a calm voice. 

"Brother Shi is Alive! He was rescued by some Linthos. Intelligent ones unlike the crazy ones we encountered in the clearing or the then forest."

"They breathe fire!"

Zhong Yi's three words instantly dampened Wu Lins enthusiasm.

"B-But they wouldn't save Shi Hao if they carried the intent to kill us." Wu Lin wasn't even sure of his own words truth and from his majesty's expression, he wasn't too.

"I see, you met my infected brethren." The voice put both Zhong Yi and Wu Lin on guard. They turned to address the voice when they realised where it was coming from.

"You must forgive me. My brethren started to change and no longer listen to my commands, they even attacked their own." Both Ghouls could hear the anger in the monsters voice, but they were still shocked.

"You could speak this entire time, yet you only grunted and roared at me," said Zhong Yii feeling a bit frustrated.

Still feeling a bit angry, the beast looked at Zhong Yi. "You didn't deserve to hear my voice. However, it seems that we have reached an impasse and there is only one way through this." 

*cough* 

Blood flew out of Zhong Yi's mouth from the internal injuries he was suffering from, plus the gaping cuts on his c.h.e.s.t were not helping. 

"Your majesty!" Shouted Wu Lin with worry in his voice.

"Shut up, I am next to you. Listen here beast.."

"Call me Hong Hanjing." Interrupted the Lintho leader.

"Listen here, I will spare the rest of you if you submit and provide the information I'm looking for"

They couldn't read his expression, but Zhong Yi could see the inner turmoil of Hong Hanjing.

"Only if you can take me and my clan out of here" 

"Fair enough, I have land large enough to house your entire tribe and more" 

Zhong Yis persuasive skills were never up to par with his status. He knew what he had  to say.

[System announcement! You have obtained the loyalty of a Chief class creature, the Grey Wolf King.]

[System announcement! You have obtained 50 Achievement Points for subduing a Chief class creature]

[You have conquered the Lintho tribe. You have received 1000 achievement points.]

The string of system announcement caught Zhong Yi off guard.

"How did we con…." Zhong Yi didn't finish his question because darkness started to consume his vision. 

Wobbling unstably from having no more power in his body, he dropped to the ground startling both Wu Lin and Hong Hanjing.

"We must bring him to your lair, our medicine pouches were destroyed by your people" said Wu Lin with a bit of spite 

That was all Zhong yi heard before he loss consciousness
