One Love Betrayal, Another Bliss..

Tik-tok! Tik-tok! That's the sound of rain, rain, rain hitting her window! That was not an agreeable sound to wake up to when one had not had more than a few hours' sleep, and one's only hope of the fine day was to see rainfall. Rain or not, she can't stay indoors all day, she have a to work. And outside the black storm made the darkness fall early.

Ruby walks into the office at 11:30am. She is late by one and a half hours. Panting, she helps herself to her desk. She's catching her breath said. "Sorry ladies, I am late. Really very sorry. I was caught in the rain." Gwen and Sandra gave her an expression, understand! "Ruby, you are lucky. Boss didn't ask for you this morning. Maybe he knows, since its raining heavily." Sandra said. It had been her third weeks here and both Gwen and Sandra are treating her well.. like their little sister. Ruby replied. "Thank you. I will treat you to my speciality coffee later."

Thirty minutes later, it's lunchtime. The building has its own cafeteria on the first floor with a lot of good foods. She and Gwen immediately have their foods served since they arrived early. The place is not yet crowded that they can choose the best spot to eat. They need to take a quick lunch so Sandra can get hers later. Today, it Sandra turn to mend the office. Since boss is around, they're not allowed to leave together, one person have to be around. After lunch, they quickly head back to office. "Shooos..., go for lunch now. Stop lingering here." Gwen said to Sandra.

Two hours after lunch, her phone buzzed. It her boss. "Come in..." He said. Ruby was stunned for a while. 'Did he noticed she's late? Is he pissed off with her being late? Is she gonna get a scolding?' Well, she didn't do it purposely but she can't flag down any cab since its raining heavily, not to say to get public transportation. It will took her two hours or more to reach the office. Turning to her Gwen's side, all she could do is signal her, 'Good luck.'

After knocking Lucas door, as soon as she stepped inside his room. Lucas stared at her and asked. "You're late today!" Ruby nodded. "Sorry sir, there wouldn't be next time." Lucas in serious mood, "Next time, if its raining heavily like today, give me a call. I get the driver to pick you up." He said. 'What??? Did she heard wrong. She just merely a staff. Why would he get his driver to pick her?' Still stunned by his words and seeing her confused state, Lucas said. "I believed Gwen or Sandra did inform you about my business trip tomorrow?" She nodded her head.

"I want you to come with me to assist in the proposal." He said, this really surprised her. 'Me.. Going with him? Why??? She wasn't the one who deal with the proposal, Sandra... And she's only been here for three weeks. Does he really have fate in her?' Her thought seem scattered everywhere but she just nod with excitement. "Just work and no fooling around." He said reminding her. 'What does that mean. Of course, it for work, who would fool around with him.' Still can't predict what her boss meant, she nod her head again. "Yes, sir."

As usual in her office, she's on her computer and sighed. She still have one pending job.. report amendments. She started to organize the files and papers on her desk and realize this is going to take a while. After done with filings, she continue working on her computer.. once she was done editing, she moved the cursor to the print button and clicked it. The printer was on another table across her room. Her table was full of supplies she would need, like staples, paper clips, etc. She needs to work double time to finish all her jobs before the clock strikes five. As she checked the time again, it is thirty minutes before seven in the evening. Gwen had gone home, Ieaving her and Sandra around.. of course, her boss too.

A knock on Lucas door broke him from his thoughts. "Come in." He said. She let out a breath and walked in. "Here you go, sir." She said as she put the files on his desk. After seeing the files, he turned and said. "You may go now. And don't forget your passport tomorrow." Indeed, her first business trip with her boss. How could she forget?. "Alright, see you tomorrow." And left his room.
