One Piece: The Power System

Both Luffy and Rein carried the huge fish back home under the shocked eyes of the villager. Luffy was smiling the whole way and would often get asked the question 'Did you guys catch this fish?' Luffy would say that both he and Rein caught the fish near the sea.

The villager looked at Rein and Luffy strangely, how could two 4-year-olds catch such a huge fish!? Some villagers didn't believe it and thought that they got fortunate as the fish may have gotten stuck on land and they just simply found it. They couldn't figure out how these little kids were carrying such a huge fish together! Luffy was ignorant toward everyone's gaze and continued forward. However, Rein knew exactly what they meant by those strange stares, they were all in disbelief.

It didn't take Luffy and Rein long to arrive at their house. "Ah, it looks like we'll have to chop this fish up in meat pieces." There was no way this fish was fitting through the front door with the size of it, it was just too big for that.

"Dang it!" Rein began to think deeply, he recalled a man in the village and from the show by the name Gyoru, he had seen him before when he was 2 and even held them. Luffy wouldn't remember anything at the age of 2 but Rein was different, he remembered everything at all his age cycles. This man was a fishmonger so it would be the best choice to get his help in cutting this fish up. "Luffy, we'll have to go and get help from Mr. Gyoru in order to cut this fish up nice and good." Luffy looked at Rein and nodded in agreement.

"Let's bring this big fish to his shop in the village, he always goes fishing 3 days a week." Rein and Luffy both carried the fish again but Luffy was starting to get exhausted from carrying it. Rein, on the other hand, wasn't tired at all, this could be due to his daily workout of doing pushups, he had started his work out when he was 3.

The only reason he started working out was because of his crazy Grandpa Garp, who would throw them into dangerous places on a whim, the last time they were both thrown into a deep hole and had to crawl their way out alive!

Minutes later, they both arrived at his chicken's fish shop that had a huge fish on it made out of wood. "Shit, are my eyes deceiving me? Two little boys are carrying a fish double their size, ah, I've truly seen it all in this life!" An old man who was passing by looked on in shock. Both Luffy and Rein didn't hear what the man said as they walked towards the dock area near Gyoru's fishing shop.

"It makes sense, old man. Those two little boys are Garp's grandkids, they aren't normal by any means." A middle-aged man who set up a food stand nearby spoke up. He recognized the two little boys since they were such a big hit when they were born. This also accommodated the fact that they were the only kids in this village to speak of.

"Damn, that old man Garp can still move like he's in his thirties and forties, while I require a cane to get by." The unknown old man sighed, he was truly too old and even felt somewhat useless.

Meanwhile, both Luffy and Rein walked around back and spotted a middle-aged man dragging a net onto the shore. The middle-aged man wore a beige shirt underneath his green fishing outfit with a pink little rope around his forehead. The middle-aged man was clearly Gyoru, it wasn't hard to spot Luffy and Rein who were carrying such a big fish with their hard footsteps at that.

"Wow, it Rein and Luffy, my little buddies!" Gyoru happily said but his face changed a bit when he saw the huge fish they were carrying. When was the last time he caught such a huge thing?

"Luffy, put the fish down, right here." Once Luffy heard what Rein said, he immediately put the fish down with an exhausted expression.

"Phew, I thought my arms would break off, haha!" Luffy laughed in relief. Luffy and Rein were pretty much dressed the same, so it was hard to tell the difference from the two. Only if you looked closely into their eyes, then you would be able to tell the difference.

"Sorry, Mr. Gyoru, we just need your help cutting up this fish for later." Rein didn't beat around the bush and told Gyoru what he wanted.

"Wow, of course, I can cut it up for you guys for later." Gyoru agreed right away. "Where did you get this big fish from, at least, which part of this village did you catch this fish from?" Gyoru was curious and asked.

"We caught near the little forest with worms as bait." Rein said, "We'll leave it here for you to take care of, we'll be back later to get it." Gyoru would simply cut it into pieces and wrap the meat up to give them later.

"Okay, little lad, come by later and I'll have it ready for you." Gyoru said

Rein looked at Gyoru and asked, "Uh, how much is it going to cost us?"

"This is nothing to me, you two little fellows carried this big fish here all by yourselves and even caught it by yourselves. This one is on the house, so you don't have to worry, come back later." Gyoru waved his hand signaling them that it was no problem.

"Wow, what nice old man, thank you Gomu!" Luffy smiled and said

"O-Old man!" Gyoru stumbled a bit, this kid even got his name wrong! Gyoru looked at Luffy's innocent expression, he had been fond of these two for some time now and knew Luffy wasn't calling him an old man on purpose nor was he screwing his name up on purpose.

Rein saw the surprise on Gyoru's face and grabbed Luffy to make a run for it before shouting "See you later!" Gyoru's eyebrows twitched a bit but he shook his head afterward with a smile.

Moments later, Luffy and Rein arrived home. "Ah, Rein. That fish was so heavy." Luffy looked on the bright side afterward: "I can't wait to eat it later, hehe! It had so much meat on it and it looked so good!" Luffy began to drool thinking about the fish.

"Yeah, later that is." Rein thought for a moment and said: "Luffy, what do you want to be when you get older? What is your dream?" Rein already knew what he would be but wanted to confirm it, he had heard him mention it many times when Garp asked and was knocked over the head every time.

"I'll be the Pirate King!! Rein, you can be my first crewmember when I make my crew, hehe!" Luffy laughed with a silly expression and spoke with confidence a child usually wouldn't have at such an early age.

"What the.. Get out, who would join your crew, you clown!" Rein grinned.

"Then what will you be when you get older, Rein?" Luffy asked with a curious face. Rein had never said what he wanted to be even when Garp had asked. Of course, Garp had told them that he would have them join the Marines when they got older, which Rein declined immediately. This resulted in some harsh consequences!

"Hmm, I don't know, I think I'll be a pirate hunter until I choose what I want to be later." Being a pirate hunter seemed fun, killing a few evildoers wasn't a bad idea while earning some serious revenue at the same time. Of course, as a pirate, he could just rob some people or some marine outpost or headquarters but why do that?

"A pirate hunter?" Luffy seemed to think for a bit. "Eh, are you going to hunt me down if I become a pirate as well?" Luffy looked stunned after thinking about it for a bit, would he be hunted by his own brother? If that is the case, he would have no choice but to run, he would rather run than fight someone he loved, like family or really close friends.

"You don't have to worry about that, I won't hunt my own family if I have job occupation that goes against theirs." Rein said hurriedly: "My next option would be to become a pirate rather than a trashy marine, haha! Like, who in their right mind would want to be that!?"

Luffy and Rein looked at each other and broke out into laughter. Suddenly, a dark shadow casted above them out of nowhere. "Huh, what the..." Before he could finish, both Luffy and Rein were knocked over the head swiftly.

BONK!!

BONK!!

"AHHH!" Both Luffy and Rein cried out in pain from the sudden attack.

Both Rein and Luffy crash onto the ground rolling in pain. Suddenly two knotted lumps appeared on both their heads! "F.u.c.k, it hurt like hell!" Rein screeched in pain, the attack was so swift that he couldn't even see the image of it.

"You little brat, who's the idiot if they join the marines, this is something you both will have to do in the future." Of course, it could be no one else but Garp! When did this old man sneak up behind them and how long was he listening to them?

Luffy stood up fast and waved his fist in protest. "I-I'll be the pirate king, the strongest there i..." Luffy wanted to finish but was bonk over the head again.

"ow, ow, wow" Luffy had tears in his eyes from the knock as he rolled on the floor in pain.

"Damn, old man! This is child abuse, you can't do that, it's illegal!" Rein got up and also protest in defense of Luffy but was swiftly met with a knock over the head as well!

"Ahh! F.u.c.k!" Rein rolled over the floor in pain.

"Trust me, joining the marines is an amazing thing. Catching criminals and saving the world, it's the best feeling in the world, I'm doing this for both of you! This is the power of my love first, it will strengthen you mentally and physically." Garp said righteously, of course, Rein knew his words were full of shit and Garp himself also knew that what he said was in fact bull as well.

Strengthen physically and mentally my ass!

"Damn it, now I have lumps on my head!" Rein wasn't happy and went to help Luffy up who was still squirming in pain on the floor.

"Hmm, I'm starving, where is the food? Makino usually leaves something behind, but I guess I came a little unexpected today, hahaha!" Garp laughed and walked towards the corner of the house. "I'm gonna take a nap right here, so keep quiet." Garp fell asleep instantly after his statement. His snores were loud enough to wake the dead if Rein had to say so himself!

"Dang it, I need some ice for these knots on my head, this is too painful." Rein had already understood what Luffy had to go through as a kid, but Garp did the things he did to toughen up Luffy.

Time quickly passed, and Garp was still asleep, Makino would be arriving home in about 30 minutes or so. Rein and Luffy took this time to head to Gyoru shop to retrieve the fish they left with him. Gyoru had done what they wanted and cut the fish into pieces for later feeding.

Right as they were walking through the door with a crate of chopped up fish, they were caught by Makino, who was walking up. She looked surprised to see the little fellows carrying such a big crate from each side. "Rein and Luffy, this crate, what do you two plan to do with it by bringing this thing to the house?" Makino asked with surprise

"Hehe, me and Rein caught a super big fish earlier and wanted to have you cook it up for all of us to eat!" Luffy was excited and couldn't help but answer her question with pride. Makino smiled but before she could say anything, a fit of laughter came from the house.

"Hahaha, so you guys were expecting me and even prepared some tasty fish for me!" Garp walked out of the house with a wide smile on his face. He greeted Makino, then he stared at the crate Rein and Luffy was holding.

"Old man, this is for Me, Luffy and Makino, we never included you!" Rein eyes dilated as his mouth twitched, his grandpa was quite overbearing at times. Garp picked his nose and flung what appeared to be a "bouger" somewhere into the unknown.

Garp feigned ignorance and took the crate from Luffy and Rein. He opened it and a fishy smell immediately came upon him. "Haha, this is the good stuff! Makino, let's cook it up, my grandsons think a lot about their grandpa and even prepared something special." Garp walked into the house laughing up a storm, completely ignoring Rein's sickly expression.

Makino looked a Rein's frozen face and chuckled slightly. "Rein, don't be like that, he is your grandfather, you should treat him well." Makino didn't give Rein time to reply like she knew he would and walked into the house. She was going to prepare the fish, it was enough for everyone so there were no worries there.

Just as Makino thought, he did want to say something. Rein sighed, she was right but he wished he treated them well instead of knocking them over the head all the time. "Rain, let's go, Makino is going to prepare the fish, I want to watch!" Luffy ran into the house with a face filled with greed.

"Ah, whatever, it is enough to go around. I need to stop being selfish like I was in my last world." Rein understood this was his new family now, so he would cherish it to the end.
