One Piece: The Power System

Everyone, including Makino, ate their fill of fish with drinks on the side. Makino was surprised to hear that Luffy and Rein had caught the fish themselves. Garp was a little surprised but not nearly that much, he just laughed.

Garp walked out of the house and told Makino. "Keep a close eye on these two, they're having some weird fantasy that they shouldn't have. They need to be groomed into becoming the best marines they possibly can be." Garp said flatly

"Wait, you just got here not long ago, are you leaving that fast?" Makino asked. She wanted to question him about why she was responsible for making sure they have a marine-like way, she didn't know what it took to be one!

"Yeah, my vacation is over, so I have to return." Garp didn't even look back and kept walking.

Vacation, what a terrible job with no freedom!

Makino's eyebrows twitched as she thought this, but she still kept a smile and said nothing.

Soon, Garp's figure disappeared into the distance. Rein and Luffy poped out of the house and looked into the distance. "Is that crazy old man gone, these bumps don't come out so easy, even with ice!" Rein was holding an ice pack on his head and so was Luffy. Fortunately for them, this was a low-level beating compared to what he knew he would get in the future.

Makino chuckled. "He's gone, but what he does is out of love, I know he goes a little too far sometimes, so I understand that much." Makino shook her and looked at Luffy and Rein's pitiful heads.

Going too far, how about beyond the limit!

Rein scorned silently but this did make his resistance to damage go up, so he never really complained out loud about it. "Gramps's fist hurt the most, and we can never run away from him no matter what." Luffy smiled, he knew that his grandpa was fast for his age and quite strong for it as well.

Rein didn't say anything, he knew why Garp was so strong. Everyone walked into the house preparing to go to sleep.

Time quickly passed as Luffy and Rein continued their routine of hunting fish and some animals in the forest nearby. The animals they hunted were small animals like rabbits and sometimes boar if they set up some traps for it. Finally, 3 years had passed by just like that, this was the day the 3-year reign had finally come to an end!

"Hell yeah! It's about time!" Rein jumped with joy when he heard the notification go off. He raised his stats from hunting animals and working out every day in these years that had passed. Sadly, there was a limit to what his kid's body could achieve from working out or just working out in general.

"Okay, let's check my status before checking out the system store, status, come forth!" Rein spoke to himself and called out.

Rein came to this conclusion, he had already understood what everything on his status sheet meant. His will power was lacking but he knew he would be able to get that up in the future, hopefully.

"Okay, show me the system store, show it all to me, haha!" Rein was eager to see what he could get from the System Store. He had been waiting for 7 years for this to happen, so he was a little impatient at the moment.

[Store loading... This may take 10 minutes for completion!]

"Well!" Rein's eyebrows knitted seeing this notification but he wasn't that impatient, he waited 7 years for this, so 10 minutes wasn't hard to wait on. At this time, Luffy was asleep, he had always been the first to wake up but not on this day, the day Rein had been waiting for!

Rein laid back down on his bed to wait out the time of the system activation. Of course, ten minutes wasn't much and the time soon came before he knew it.

"Yes, of course!" Rein eyes were wide with joy as he spoke. Soon, an interface appeared before him that only he could see. This interface could appear in his mind if he wanted it to but this was a default option that he would have to adjust.

"Sweet mother of...." Before he could finish, Luffy yawned and suddenly opened his eyes in a hurry!

"Food!" Luffy jumped out of his bed and looked over at Rein who had closed his eyes to pretend to be asleep. Luffy grinned and shot out of the room, he was aware that he had made a mistake by yelling food as it would end up awakening Rein.

"This guy...!" Rein was speechless, he had grown very close to Luffy as a brother over the years but he still never woke him up when the morning rolled around.

Rein smiled and shook his head, and continued his exploration of the system. "This system has everything in it, even weapons and armor could be purchased from it!" Rein couldn't help but think that the wait was worth it. The main thing he was concerned about here was the Haki training he could do, so that was the natural thing he clicked first.

Soon, another list popped up after he clicked on Haki and Rokushiki Training.

"What the heck is this!? Why are these x's near the abilities?" Rein looked at the X's and the check with confusion for a second. "Wait, it can't be! I'm not even qualified to learn any of the techniques with x's near them!" It didn't make sense to him, was it because of his weak kid body that lacked true training?

"These system points, how many of them do I have?" Rein skimmed through the page until he saw something at the bottom screen. What he saw was a brown box just sitting there in 3D constantly spinning or rotating like the earth.

"Hmm!" Rein clicked the box and the label over the box appeared. "Beginners Box! Ah, this is something they give to the noobs in the beginning to help them." Rein could naturally figure this out.

"Okay, time to open this box." Rein clicked the box and hit the open button that appeared afterward.

Suddenly, the notifications stopped. Rein could see his storage, the items in his storage were all in 3D and always rotated.

"It's a Devil Fruit, this is a Zoan type, and it is one of the strong ones at that!" Rein looked closely at the Devil Fruit, it was shaped like a cat face with orange, black, and a little white on it. The stem protruding out of the fruit was yellow in the stape of a crooked T. It had 2 triangular humps on it and one circular hump in the middle of the fruit which shaped it like a cat face.

Rein looked at the bottom of the screen and saw 2 other things that just appeared.

"Okay, I know what system points are, and even attribute points, but what are Skill Points?" Common sense told him what Attribute Points were and he just found out what system points could do but what were these Skill Points?

Rein didn't feel like thinking about it anymore and saw that he must have already had 5,000 system points before the 20,000 System Points he just received. "What a shame, I don't have enough to purchase Soru." Rein felt a bit sad but decided to buy Observation Haki instead since it was the next best thing.

Suddenly, Rein could feel a few things around him, or better yet, he could sense the things around him. The range was not big at all, it was limited to the outside of his room door. "Hmm, it looks like I have a long way to go before my Observation Haki can reach the level of Katikuri." Rein shrugged, then looked at his status sheet again.

"Hmm, F- Rank, this must be the lowest level of ability, if I'm not mistaken." Rein said with an understanding tone. "What is that zero out of 1 bracket next to it mean, could it be?" Rein pondered for a second and looked at his Skill Points, he had a rough idea of what they meant but wasn't sure.

"Put one Skill Point into Observation Haki!" Rein spoke lightly, and suddenly, the Observation Haki skill began to glow as the Rank changed!

"I friggin knew it!" Rein was elated seeing the change, he also felt the change. However, he felt a bad headache from this level up. Rein held his head as he clenched his teeth from the pain, it was like his brain was being penetrated.

"Why is it so painful, arg!" After 2 minutes, the pain settled down. "F.u.c.k, I guess it's no pain, no gain!" Rein look at the FF-Rank.

"Ugh, here we go again! Put three skill points into Observation Haki!" Like the last time, he put 3 points into Observation Haki and felt the pain again! After that was over, the Rank had just reached FFF and required 10 Skill Points to level up. However, the Rank had something strange next to it, it said "Limit" and had to be trained to progress to the next level! Rein didn't have enough skill points to progress it anyway.

"Haha, I should have known it wasn't going to be easy, I will have to train this Observation Haki in order to use more skill points to level it up." Rein thought it was going to be smooth sailing but this wasn't the case, his body still had to get used to this new ability through training.

Of course, even though the title had Haki and Rokushiki, it still sold other abilities under this title, like swordsmanship and shooting for example. "I will be training in close combat for a later date, but for now, let's work on our Observation Haki." Of course, Rein had no clue how to train Observation Haki, so he had to remember something's from the show.

Rein would need to be in actual combat or have something swinging at him to fully train this ability. However, actual combat was an easier way and even a better way to train this type of ability. Rein went downstairs and saw what he always saw, and that was Luffy chowing down on the breakfast Makino made for him.

Rein joined in when Makino brought his food over. As they were eating, Makino told them to play safe and went to the bar as always. Luffy had already finished eating before she left the house, so he was just waiting on Rein to finish his food, which he eventually did.

Rein and Luffy stepped out of the house afterward. Rein thought about his training and remembered that Luffy and himself wanted to kill a powerful huge boar that was in the forest. They had discovered this boar a year ago but were simply too weak to fight and kill it.

"Luffy, tomorrow, do you want to hunt that boar we couldn't beat a year ago?" Rein grinned and asked.

"Hmm!" Luffy looked excited for a second but recalled how strong that boar was and had some doubts.

"How can you be a pirate king if you're scared? Besides, the boar has tons of meat on it that could feed us for at least 3 days!" Rein, like always, spoke in a way to motivate Luffy to come with him, he knew Luffy would follow him anyway even if he didn't say this.

Suddenly, Luffy puffed out his cheeks. "Let's go beat that boar and get his yummy meat!" Steam came out of Luffy's nose as a signal of motivation and determination. Rein laughed and they both walked off.

Rein was sure Makino would have a heart attack if she knew what they were planning. Hunting Rabbits and other small creatures were one thing, but killing a huge fierce boar was crazy! "We'll need a cut tool to kill this thing, our strength alone will not be enough." Rein had to get a blade or any cutting weapon in order to kill this thing or else it would fail.

"Let's head to the village weapons shop first, then we can kill that boar tomorrow!" Luffy wasn't a person who favorited weapons but saw its usefulness and nodded with a serious face, which was quite cute.
