One Piece: The Power System

Luffy and Rein made their way through the village. Rein asked some old lady where he could find the weapons shop around here. She simply pointed him in the direction of the shop and the way to get there. The village kept weapons for hunting, though it didn't seem like it, they hunted here as well when food grew scarce. Though the village hasn't suffered any food shortages in a long time, they kept a weapon shop just in case.

Rein followed the old lady's directions on how to get to the shop, while Luffy followed behind. Under the lady's direction, Rein found the shop in no time. The shop was quite nice on the outside, it was made out of brick with a nice wooden door for an entrance.

"Alright, Luffy, it's time to check this place out, maybe we can get something for free." Usually, the people here would give Luffy and Rein things for free due to them being the only kids in the village. You could say that they were highly favorited in Foosha village due to various reasons.

"Okay!" Luffy was just thinking about the knives they would use to kill the boar with. If they could kill that boar then he could only imagine the amount of meat it would give! Luffy giggled to himself just thinking about it, drool could be visibly seen coming off his lips.

Rein smiled and shook his head seeing Luffy's expression, he had grown used to this. Perhaps he could even sell the meat of the boar in goa kingdom. Rein, with his new storage keeping the meat fresh, it big wasn't a big deal doing just that.

Rein and Luffy opened the nice wooden door and walked into the shop. Looking at the interior of the shop, it wasn't all that bad, but it was still a village shop so it wasn't all that amazing either. The shop had nothing but cutting weapons from swords, knives, switchblades and more.

"Well, well, if it isn't "team double trouble." What are my little duo buddies looking for today? I know it's gotta be a blade of some sort, what will it be?" A middle-aged man with droopy eyes and a muscular figure spoke behind the counter when he saw Rein and Luffy walk through the door.

"Yes, we are looking for a sharp blade, we want to kill a big beast tomorrow with it." Rein answered lightly, this place was filled with weapons that could kill common animals.

"Of course you can have a blade, but do either of you have the money for that?" The man grinned as he asked his question. He was sure that Luffy and Rein had no money on them, it was almost like instinct for him. He was a merchant so he could tell who lacked funds and who didn't.

Rein scratched his head knowing that he didn't have any money on him. "Uh, no, we don't have any money on us." Rein facial expression sunk, the system did sell weapons, but he didn't want to waste his system points on a weapon he probably wouldn't use long. The ones he could afford were low-quality weapons.

Luffy saw Rein's somewhat depressed expression. "Rein, is it because we don't have money for the weapon that you're feeling sad?" Rein rubbed his forehead and nodded towards Luffy's question.

Just when Luffy was about to say something, the man cut him off before he could speak. "You said you were going to hunt a beast, right?" He smiled at the two little fellows and asked.

"Yes, it's a Big Boar that me and Rein are going to take down to get all its tasty meat!" Luffy knew no restraint and told him what they wanted to do! Rein face palmed himself when he heard Luffy speak of what they wanted to do, this guy just didn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Actually, that is a lie, he knew when to keep his mouth shut, but this wasn't such an important matter where he couldn't tell the man what they were going to do.

"Oh, I see!" The man touched his chin as he seemed to be in deep thought. "If you can give me some of that meat from that boar, I will give you a blade for free. You can take one with you to kill the beast and you can come back and get another one of your choosing." The man proposed such a good deal, how could Rein not agree to it?

"No! It's me and Rein's meat, you can't have any, no, no, nooo!" Luffy declined before Rein could even accept the man's proposal.

"Just a second." Rein waved his hand towards the man, which indicated that he needed time to talk with Luffy. The man nodded as to understand, Rein wrapped his arm over Luffy's shoulder and started to talk with him silently. The man smiled as he found these twins quite interesting, he was more amused by their different personalities but they had the same looks.

"It works like this Luffy, we can get free weapons if we give this man some of our meat for killing the beast." Rein whispered and continued "This will allow us to get free weapons in order to kill more beasts around here for even more meat. All we have to do is give this man a little bit of meat once, and that is it." Rein explained slowly to Luffy in order for him to see the bigger picture or the bigger future in this investment.

Luffy looked at Rein seriously with his big eyes, he kinda did understand that much but Rein said it would work, so it would work. Luffy was absolutely confident in Rein's ability throughout the years he spent with him.

"Okay, If Rein says it'll work, then it will work." Luffy gave the green light and Rein patted his shoulders. Rein gave the man a thumbs up and the man told them to pick a weapon that is to their liking.

Rein picked a red bladed sword with a black handle on it. The blade was very sharp, it would prove to be more than enough to cut down that boar. "Please, my little friends, don't forget your promise, I am a merchant who is serious about business." The man gave a knowing smile. Rein wasn't sure if it was a threat or what but he didn't take heed to it at all.

Rein and Luffy left the shop afterward. Rein had planned to do something else today, his main objective today was to just sit home and go over the system. He mainly wanted to check out the Devil Fruit system, and how that worked?

However, he could just do that later or some other time. Rein had decided that he would he and Luffy would hunt that Boar down today! Soon as these thoughts came to mind, he heard a notification go off in his head.

"Nice, a mission on something I was going to do anyway." Rein knew from what he read earlier that missions rarely appeared unless it was important. If a mission were to revolve around saving someone then that would mean that the individual he saved must have a lot of potential and is worth saving to the system.

Rein found the rewards to be generous, especially the strengthening pill he would receive. As they were walking towards the forest, Rein looked at Luffy and thought it would be nice if Luffy had his Gomu-Gomu fruit right now. This would surely make killing the Boar much easier when the time had come.

"Hmm, Speaking of that Devil Fruit, Shanks should be arriving here soon. I give or take, he should be here in a month or so." It would be at that time when Luffy would eat his fated Devil Fruit.

At this time, both Rein and Luffy arrived at the entrance to the forest. "Luffy, stay behind me, I have pretty good senses so the chances of getting sneak attacked by that boar are low." On their way here, Rein had many thoughts on how he was going to kill this boar. Setting a trap was a good one but he didn't know the exact size of the boar.

Luffy nodded and followed behind Rein with a serious expression, he knew this was no joking matter. They quickly but cautiously made their way deeper into the forest. Rein also knew that there was a huge tiger on the other side of this forest where the bandit's territory was so he didn't have to worry about that thing since it was far from here. He remembered from the show that Luffy, Sabo, and Ace took it down, and will do so again later.

As they were walking, they suddenly felt the ground shake! Something big was coming from up ahead and was moving quick. "Luffy, let's hide in the bush over here!" Rein called out fast and they both jumped into the nearby bush. Moments later, a huge shadow casted near the trees in the forest, what appeared was a huge boar. The boar had brown fur with long tusk the size of elephant tusk protruding from the upper part of its mouth. Clouds of steam were coming from its mouth and it had eyes for fury, its eyes were red with rage!

Luffy's mouth dropped as his eyes protruded out of his skull from shock! If this was the show, it would look quite funny for anyone to see. Rein raised his index finger over his mouth, hinting Luffy to be quiet.

Rein whispered, "Luffy, here is the plan, you're going to need to be a distraction in order for me to land a killing blow on this beast." Rein's target, the neck of the beast, it was a sure way to put it down once and for all.

"Eh!" Luffy gulped as his forehead began to form beads of sweat over it. Luffy s.u.c.k.e.d in his lips and nodded. Rein knew he was scared but didn't hold it against him, he was scared as well. This was his first time in such a serious position.

Rein told Luffy to wait, he wanted to study the size of this beast so he could lay a trap down for it. This boar was slightly bigger than an African elephant back in his world. The boar sniffed around and walked off in another direction with its earthquaking footsteps.

Rein waited for about 2 minutes after the earthquake footsteps had stopped. "Luffy, let's set a trap now." Rain purchased 2 shovels from the System for 10 System points each to start their digging. Luffy looked at Rein curiously as to where he pulled 2 shovels from but didn't bother asking.

Rein and Luffy were digging for about an hour and a half before it was finished. Rein told Luffy to climb a couple of trees and grab many leaves to cover the trap. The Boar would surely hurt itself from the fall, which would temporarily disable it. This would allow Rein to come in for the killing blow when it was in a daze of pain.

After collecting as many leaves as they could, they cover the huge hole with leaves. They had to use sticks to keep the leaves from just falling into the hole, so this was another thing that had to be collected. Once they were done with all of this, it was now time to draw the beast into the trap.

"Luffy, it's time for you to act as bait." Rein grinned "You'll have to taunt the Boar to make it really mad, then it will chase you in a blind rage, can you do that?" Rein looked at Luffy seriously and asked, he would have to go in for the killing blow which was hard enough.

"Mhm!" Luffy nodded with a sweaty and dirty face. This was due to all the digging he had done, and Luffy got dirt on his face somehow. "Then we eat the meat later, Makino will cook it up nice and good!" Suddenly, stars appeared in Luffy's eyes afterward.

"Hehe, yep, now head towards its den and taunt it, I'll be waiting here for you, make sure you go around the trap." Rein smiled and warned. The trap didn't have anything sharp in it that could really wound the beast but the fall itself was good enough.

"Okay!" Luffy nodded and ran off towards the den of the beast. Rein and Luffy had discovered this den a year ago but didn't dare to provoke this beast into a rage. After about 6 minutes, Rein could feel an earthquake underneath him.

Once he looked further ahead, he could see Luffy running with his tongue caught in the wind and his arm moving back and forth. Rein laughed to himself seeing Luffy's funny expression but his face turned serious when he saw the huge beast chasing after him.

"Well, here goes nothing, I guess." Rein said his final words and waited for the beast to get entangled in their trap.
