One Piece: The Power System

Time quickly passed and 3 weeks had already gone by. During these days, Luffy had grown used to Erica (Baby 5) really quickly. In fact, he was friendly towards her the minute he met her as he was to all people his age.

Though it didn't show in the anime, Erica was very anorexic from the lack of food. Makino noticed how skinny she was when she went to take a bath. Makino was shocked and angry to see a kid in such a terrible state and made a lot of food that night.

The next day Rein made sure to pay a visit to the weapons shop to give him a piece of the boar meat. The weapons shop merchant was rendered speechless seeing the huge boar lying dead. He looked at Rein and Luffy Deeply, and even the newcomer he hadn't seen before.

Of course, they chose the weapon they wanted from the shop which was a spear he gave to Erica. Luffy had no problems at all with that, in fact, he didn't even think about it. Luffy wasn't someone who relied on a weapon to beat someone and was more of a fist and kicking guy.

Erica ate well during her stay and reverted back to how a healthy kid should look. Her clothes, which were faded white and brown rags, had been replaced right away by Makino with good clothing a little girl should wear. Rein made sure to go hunting with Luffy and Erica often to boost their experience. Rein had no plans to train Luffy in Haki or in any way, he would learn that himself in the future, why do it for him now?

Rein had taken the body strengthening Pill which strengthened his leg muscle quite a bit. He was able to move faster and jump higher due to the pill. They played like typical kids, such as hide and seek or tag. Rein made sure to get those daily activities in for enjoyment and whatnot. Erica was having a blast all these days, now this was living.

However, on the 3rd week of her stay, they heard two men speaking on the sidewalk. "Hey, didn't you hear? I heard that red-haired shanks just docked her not too long ago." One of the men said

"Damn, someone like that came here to the east blue, and to an island like this?" The man was a little stunned but not worried for some reason.

"Yeah, I heard he went to Makino's bar for some drinks with his crew, he's there right now." As soon as he said that, Luffy's eyes grew wide with surprise and joy. Luffy ran off without saying anything but it was clear where he was running to.

"Well, it looks like it starts here." Rein shook his head and looked at Erica who was beside him. "Let's head home and do some workouts, there can be no slacking if we want to live freely in this world." Hearing Rein's comment, Erica nodded.

Moments later, they were in their room. Erica slept in the same bed as Rein, Makino had some thoughts about it for a bit and concluded that they were just kids and nothing could happen. At this time, Erica was working out with her legs while lying on the floor between Luffy and Rein's bed, which were beside each other by 2 meters or so.

"Good, good, keep it up until you feel the burn. This is how you know that you're progressing in some way." Rein grinned as he watched her work out, she was the same age as him but was so determined.

"Alright, let's check this Devil Fruit Token out, I've been holding off on this thing for some time now." Rein had finally decided to check the token out, he was in no rush to check these days but finally decided on it now.

Rein brought up the interface and saw a Bronze Token constantly rotating. "Hmm, I want to use it now but first I have to read the description in order to know what to do." Rein clicked the token that looked like a Bronze coin and the description popped up.

[The (Bronze) Devil Fruit Token can be flipped. Once it has been flipped it will choose a number between 1 to 3 in which it will land on. This will determine how many devil fruit will be given to the user.]

Note Below:

• The Devil Fruits will be given out randomly so the user may not choose specifically.

• Due to the low-level Bronze Token, the Devil Fruit you'll receive will be fruits that exist in this world that haven't been used.

• The higher-grade the token, the higher the chance of getting something rarer. The percentage ratio of certain classes of Devil fruit is as follows.

• Paramecia 80%

• Zoan 45 %

• Logia 20%

• Mythical Zoan 5%

"So that's how it is, I may as well flip this coin and get whatever Devil fruit I'll be given." Rein had already decided on what Devil fruit he wanted. What he learned over the 3 weeks about the Devil Fruits was he could consume more Devil Fruits but it would cost 25 Skill points to do so. The price would only double if he wanted to consume another, so the next time after, it would be 50, then 100, and it would continue to double from there.

"Alright, let's do this!" Suddenly, the coin appeared in Rein's hand. The coin obviously couldn't be seen by anyone else but him. Erica was already done with her work out and was just lying on the ground taking deep breaths from her workout.

Rein flipped the coin as high as he could in the air. Rein's face was full of anticipation, he hoped for a good number, at least 2 or even better, 3! The coin finally landed on his bed and a bright number appeared on it in red!

The number three!

"Yes!" Rein was beyond elated on how fortunate he was. This was because he wasn't living so good in his other world, well he had a nice place to live in but it was more to life than just that. Erica jumped in surprise and looked at Rein's happy expression, so she smiled and settled back down.

Rein didn't need to think about the answer and immediately click yes! The Devil Fruits on the system cost quite the amount so getting free ones were all welcomed.

Rein scanned his earnings and was actually quite satisfied. He was honestly expecting to get nothing but Paramecia class fruits. Rein didn't think there was anything wrong with a Paramecia fruit at all since the first Devil Fruit ability he wanted was a Paramecia class Fruit.

The Fruit he was gunning for as his first devil fruit was the Weather-Weather Fruit, the effect it could have on the sea was tremendous. The ability to change the weather at will to anything you wanted was a big advantage in any battle, definitely when he was at sea. From terrible snowstorms, thunderstorms, droughts, terrifying winds, and tornadoes forming, it was a straight win.

Rein looked at the swamp-swamp fruit and understood that this was Caribou's Devil Fruit. "It seems he had yet to consume this fruit, better yet, he hadn't found it yet." Rein believed that there wouldn't be a caribou pirate group anymore with him taking this fruit for himself.

The Size-Size fruit would allow someone to grow in size and increase their strength by leaps and bounds. However, speed would become a troublesome thing to overcome with such a huge body. The Ink-Ink Fruit was a special Paramecia Class Devil Fruit that was just like the Mochi-Mochi Devil Fruit that Katikuri has, but ink.

"The gains are pretty good." Rein didn't plan to sell or give out any Logia Devil fruits he ever got his hands on to just anyone, or just giving them out anyway! This was especially so for Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit which cost too much on the system. "This system doesn't show any mercy or it's just a greedy bastard operating in the shadows of this system." Rein smiled bitterly just thinking about.

Speaking of Devil Fruit, Luffy should have gotten his ability by now and was turned into a hostage by the pirates who came here. Rein looked at Erica who started exercising again after she had taken a break, she really wanted to be a useful person to Rein. She wasn't trying to impress and be useful to anyone she met like her other-self. This was obviously because Rein got her at a young age, and this was the best time to cultivate the mind of young ones.

Rein thought for a second and the Swamp-Swamp Fruit materialized in his hand. "Hey Erica, I got a present for you for all your hard work." Rein sat on the bed with a smile, this fruit was quite strong, she would automatically be stronger than him the minute she consumed this fruit. Rein wasn't worried about that, she wouldn't betray him anyway.

"A Present for me?" Erica (Baby 5) immediately stopped what she was doing and stood up instantly. She looked at the strange brown and green fruit in Rein's hand, it had swirls on it and was shaped strangely. But she didn't think it was unusual since she just thought it was a fruit and nothing more.

"This is a special Fruit called a Devil Fruit, it will give you special powers unlike most have ever seen." Erica's eyes dilated and asked

"Why is it called a Devil? Isn't it a bad thing if it's called that?"

"Well, once you consume it, you'll lose your ability to swim, so don't try to swim or you'll sink like a rock and drown." Rein shrugged and said bluntly.

Erica gulped but if she ate this fruit, this would make her stronger and much more useful to Rein. She was still quite traumatized and hadn't gotten over her experience, so with the sacrifice of the ability to swim, it wasn't a loss for her. Erica took the Devil Fruit with a serious but cute face and took a bite out of it.

"E-Ugh!!!" Erica's face turned green as she stuck out her tongue. This fruit tasted so horrible that she thought she was going to vomit. The food back in her old village was better than this thing! She steeled her will and took another big bite, she had thoughts of eating the whole thing until Rein stopped her. It wasn't necessary to eat the whole fruit to gain its abilities.

30 seconds after eating the fruit, Erica's body started to melt away like it was chocolate ice cream.

"Ah! What is happening to me, I'm melting!" Erica was shocked and scared seeing her body change into a muck-like substance.

"Relax, this is your new ability, just concentrate on forming your body back to the way it used to be." Rein said calmly "With the training you've done these past 2 weeks, it shouldn't be too hard of a task for you." Rein was sure she could do it, she was quite strong in body, at least her legs were the strongest on her body.

Erica calmed down under Rein's voice and began to slowly form herself until she looked normal again. "You must have seen the information enter your head when you ate the fruit, right? If so, what did you learn from it?" Rein asked curiously

"Yes, I saw some information about my new ability. This fruit is called the Swamp-Swamp fruit and belongs to a class called logia." She wanted to explain more but Rein questioned her.

"How can you know that when you can't even read?" Rein thought that the information came in the form of words, so he doubted a bit.

"It was a voice that didn't sound like a boy or girl that told me." Erica scratched her head and continued "I also have a cool ability that can store a lot of things into my body!" Erica spoke joyously, she could now carry thinks for Rein if he didn't feel like holding it or if it was too much, she felt like she could be useful!

"Thank you, Erica. You're always such a hard-working person but now you have to train that Devil Fruit of yours. The Logia Class is one of the really rare devil fruits and most sought after, so you have an advantage in the early game." Of course, the best fruits in the late game was the Zoan and Mythical Class Devil Fruits that could boost one's sense, strength, agility, and so forth. But, as the saying goes, there was truly no weak Devil fruit and depended on the user but let's be real for a second, you gotta admit that there are some trash bag Devil fruits no matter what they said!

Erica could only smile with an embarrassed face from Rein's praise. "Okay, let's go check up on Luffy at Makino's bar." Rein jumped down from his bed and walked towards the door. Erica followed as they left the house towards Makino's bar. Erica wanted some water since she was thirsty from the workout but Rein told her that she could get water at Makino's bar when they got there.
