Overlord: Blue Citadel Alternate

Chapter 3 - 「Fortnight」

"She's still our friend," Dyne Woodwonder spoke in his sagely voice.

"We can't have her in our group anymore. She lied to us," Peter Mauk looked over at the bigger man who was much larger than the two other blonde men in more ways than one.

Lukrut just seemed in a bit of a daze after what he had just experienced and witnessed. Ninya had been a girl this entire time and he hadn't known. He felt like a failure as a man. He couldn't protect her, and yet he also didn't see the tell tale signs of who she really was.

He was disappointed and yet relieved that they were all alive in the end.

Seated on the floor while the other two stood up, the Swords of Darkness were chatting about what to do next while their Strategist and Brains was else where.

As a group they were to trust one another with their lives, yet Ninya had lead them all to believe she was a man. On top of that Lukrut had made the comment the other night about having a female on their team would cause problems. This definitely strengthened the superstition. However it also allowed them to meet with someone excessively powerful capable of reviving all three of them at the same time and even healing Ninya shortly prior to doing so.

From how he appeared, he wasn't an Adventurer, but perhaps he was a Worker? Maybe he was a mercenary for hire? They had no idea who he was, but he was magically gifted.

Though they were also rather confused. People this powerful often have their names out there having been prodigies and such, yet he never heard of this young man with white hair and dark toned skin, along with those strange glowing purple eyes.

"She must have had her reasons..." Lukrut said as he stood up, his mind was on the childish face and eyes of conviction that his humble little friend always wore. Even as they embarrassed her, her eyes always seemed to have a glimmer, a bright shine to them.

Letting out a sigh, Peter nodded, knowing Ninya's sister was still out there.

Yet they were mere Silver ranked adventurers. How would they go against a Noble? They had their own soldiers, their own servants whom could possibly be on the gold level or higher.

Out classed, out matched.

That's when they all paused and looked at one another, this Jack Cipher could help them in acquiring the ultimate Goal. One of the four swords of Darkness, or all four of them in general. On top of that, saving Ninya's sister.

"Wait… Why did he ask only her?" Peter looked to the door with a brow raised, "Shouldn't we have all gone with her?"

Dyne nodded slowly before the trio would make their way upstairs before pausing, seeing the dead Necromancer's corpse. His neck had been twisted twice around, his head was mangled.

"He did this?" They looked up and around, only to notice the Grandmother and Grandson were packing things away into boxes and crates.

Lizzie glanced over towards them and raised a brow. "If you're looking for your friend, they already left with the white haired boy." Her eyes dropped to the bald sickly evil looking corpse of a man. "And it appears he had. I checked his body and there was no sign of physical contact. That was a magic attack." She pointed at him for a moment, "I say good riddance."

As they stepped outside, they turned their heads to see Jack and Ninya walking slowly.

Ninya's head was lower, she looked as if she was staring at the ground while talking. They couldn't quite hear what she was saying, but when she looked up at him. She seemed to be inquiring about something.

"If you are, what I think you are, then why did you bother saving us?" Ninya asked, she was humble in her tone and not assertive. If anything she sounded a bit shy even asking this. Yet she wanted and needed to know why.

"You were outmatched, those two were too powerful for your party to take on alone," he glanced over at her for a few moments, before Jack felt eyes on their backs. Instinctively he rose the hood of his mantle and covered the back of his head.

"But… Not too powerful for you?"

"They were weaklings."

"Then… Then what are we?"

"Living."

Ninya blinked several times at that response. He referred to the two people who he had caused the death of as weaklings. Yet when it came to the people who he had saved, he referred to them as alive.

Ninya's gaze met the ground as she continued to lead him. Her hand practically glued to his as she acted as his guide to the Inn her group had been staying at before they left for the Village.

"So… How long are you planning on staying in E-Rantel?"

"I don't know, maybe three days or maybe even a fortnight," Jack didn't seem to really care how many questions she was asking, but he'd keep answering the questions as he felt like it.

Ninya blinked a few times hearing him, "Then perhaps we'll see each other more?"

Jack glanced over at her when she asked this. "Following you around may be entertaining," he came to a stop as he let go of his staff. Letting it float in the air as he poked her cheek.

She smiled once more at him, abide faintly for a brief time and a half. "Why would you find it entertaining to follow me?"

Jack shrugged slightly, "That question kinda ruined it."

"Ruined what?" Ninya smiled a bit wider now, her eyes shining up at him.

Dyne, Lukrut and Peter were all staring at the staff from a short distance. It was just floating there a few inches off the ground.

"What do you think they're talking about?" Lukrut asked as he stepped passed them trying to get closer to the 'couple' as they were walking.

"She was just humiliated and had her heart practically pulled out of her c.h.e.s.t, watching us die." Dyne placed a hand on Lukrut's shoulder to keep him in place to make sure he didn't rush over like the goof he was. "It looks like he's comforting her."

Ninya glanced over her shoulder towards her friends and let her lips part slightly, as she gave a light wave in their direction.

Glancing over his shoulder towards the trio, Jack smirked a bit. It was about time they followed after them. Letting a friend, let alone a girl, go off with a stranger they didn't know wasn't too bright. Especially with what just happened on top of the fact that it was dark out. It wasn't safe. Even if he did save her, that could've just been a ruse in order to take her from the group.

Part of his mind definitely wanted to go there too. To take her away, yet he didn't know where to.

Turning forward, he took hold of his staff and began to continue on walking with Ninya. However he simply held the staff at his side as he made a screen appear in front of him.

It was the developer log.

"What's that?" Ninya asked as she leaned into his shoulder, looking at the foreign language which was scrolling down. Just what was all this? It looked like information, but she couldn't read it. There were a few familiar characters there, but not all of them could be read.

Jack on the other hand was reading what was scrolling down the log. It was in Japanese. Everything that was there was all the information that he had absorbed from Clementine. Her abilities and how to replicate or even create ones based on them.

"Jack?"

"It's Lady Clementine's information," Jack replied after a brief silence as he was validating the information in his mind and what was on the log.

"Lady?"

"She was a member of the Black Scripture, an elite group from the Slane Theocracy. She was the former Ninth Seat. That'd be Nine out of Twelve." As he was looking through the information still, he glanced over at her and raised a brow as she was leaning on him. He didn't stop walking through, but his breathing became shallow as he continued to just observe.

"Okay… That's depressing..." Ninya huffed as she continued to watch the unknown characters keep on scrolling and scrolling as it followed his finger. "...But what is this thing?"

"… Holographic Interface Magic."

"Holographic?" Ninya smiled wide hearing this and stared at him with amazement. She never heard of such a thing. "What's it do?"

"Displays stored information," Jack was lying his face off now before swiping his hand to the side; causing the screen to vanish.

"Oh," Ninya made a duck-like face as she looked ahead of them as they continued to walk together. "Is Momon going to be okay in the Cemetery?"

Dragons, he was becoming curious about those. Especially the one known as the Platinum Dragon Lord, the Thirteen Heroes, Six Great Gods and the Eight Kings of Greed. He also wanted to explore passed all these human Kingdoms.

Apparently further east from here, humans were treated more as slaves and food. While he found the idea revolting enough to make him gag, it was fascinating. Though he was pretty sure if he went there, he would practically wipe out the Beastmen who preyed on humans, those weaker than them.

Then his mind pulled up a mental map and he was staring at the Beastmen Exclave which was between the Roble Holy Empire, the Slane Theocracy and the Re-Estize Kingdom. A single well placed Meteor or two could work to lessen the immediate threat towards the humans. Except, without those Beastmen there, it was likely a war may be triggered between the Kingdoms. A free for all.

"We're here," his attention was pulled away from his thoughts as he heard Ninya's warm voice.

As the two came walking into the Inn, there were some adventurers, but not many present at all. Except there was a red head sitting at a table. She had heavy bags under her eyes. That and when they first came in, Jack couldn't help but notice her jump slightly at the sight of his glowing eyes.

"Are you going to get a room?" Ninya asked as he looked up at him, before following his gaze to Brita. "Does she also remind you of your sister?" Raising a brow, she looked back up at him.

"No, but it looks like she hasn't slept in days." Though in reality, she had only been up for about forty eight hours so far since the last time she slept. Since the day before, her team was slaughtered by Shalltear Bloodfallen.

Ninya's eyes rested on Brita again as she was fidgeting. She was an iron class adventurer. From what she could remember, her group was pretty good too. Yet she looked extremely bothered and jumpy. What happened to her? As she looked around, she was quick to notice the absence of her team.

"Something must've happened…"

"You're having a bad week?" Ninya looked up at Jack, rather interested in what could have possibly happened to him. Had his sister died this week, or was it something else?

"I wasn't expecting to wake up in E-Rantel." Jack confessed as he planted his hands in his pockets, letting go of her hand. "Want to share a room?"

"S-sh-share a room?" Ninya stuttered before looking over towards the front counter at the man wiping the bar down. "H-how about something to eat first?"

Hearing the shuffling of a chair against the wooden floor, both of their eyes moved towards the red headed Brita as she came in their direction. Within seconds she was standing in front of them, her eyes shifting between them. "You have anything that can help a girl sleep, do you?"

Jack stared through her for a few seconds before nodding slightly, "I have a sleep spell."

Brita blinked a few times when he had said this.

Even Ninya looked up at him, wondering if he was going to offer his help to the girl.

"Re-Really?" Brita smiled a bit, stuffing her hands into her pockets trying to pull out some coins from her pockets. "I'm sure I got something here I can pay you with."

Jack put up a hand slightly after taking it out of his pocket, stopping her. "I'm only going to be here for three nights to a fortnight until I figure out what I want to do. I also have enough coins." While he generally knew that this country didn't use the same coins as YGGDRASIL, he was sure they were at least worth the Gold they were made out of. Plus he had an exchange box in his item box, which would allow him to convert material into money that he could then melt down into Gold Bullion.

"So then… What do you want for it?" Brita asked as she stared up at the man.

"Information, what happened," Jack gestured to her as he referred to her current state of post-traumatic stress. She was definitely not feeling well, he could tell. However she appeared to not be all that bad.

Brita frowned and looked away before looking back up at him. "You haven't heard?" Her eyes gazed over his neck and then over towards the girl beside him. That's when she noticed he wasn't an adventurer. "I see… You haven't." She looked up at him again, locking her sights on his amethyst hues.

"A powerful vampire appeared in the Land of Karst. It.. It annihilated my team. All of them..."

Ninya's jaw felt loose as she heard the news. An entire Adventurer group had been wiped out, and by an undead by no less. Her eyes shifted up towards Jack for a moment before looking towards Brita.

"Alright. You have a room?"

Brita nodded slightly before giving them a notion to follow her as she made her way towards the back, passed the counter. When they came up to the room, she opened it after unlocking the door and walked inside and then proceeded to sit on the side of the bed.

Jack glanced about, there wasn't very much here. He then shifted his sight back to her as she was looking over at the two of them.

Ninya looked up to Jack as he nodded to her.

Standing in front of Brita, he held a hand over her head. "I will now cast the spell. We'll lock the door on our way out." He informed her with a small smile across his lips.

Just as Brita nodded at him, he'd cast the spell.
