Pokemon: The Wandering Guardian

Lan and Daisy were making their way through the crowd of people that we're setting up different stalls all around the city square and the various streets leading there. He had sent Growlithe into its Pokeball since there were so many people around.

I can't believe you got pokemon and I didn't know about it. You should have called me. Does grandpa Know?

"Well not really. I don't think so at least. I haven't told him yet"

Lan didn't really want to talk about this so he diverted the topic

"Man, I knew that people talked about the festival but I didn't realize how big it actually was."

Yeah, I came here when I was a little girl and loved it. But it seems that it has grown in recent years. It has mostly turned into a sort of Pokemon Trading festival since there isn't really any specific event that happens. The town just puts on a small show while many of the trainers try to battle and show off their Pokemon.

Cool, then I think we have a lot to look forward to then. They approached Mr. R's shop. He was out front of his shop set up a stall.

He waved and said " Hey Lan see you made it back come help me with this"

The two then preceded to set up his tent while Daisy went to look around the shop.

Mr. R smirked at Lan and asked: " Hey kid is that your girlfriend?"

Lan shook his head and replied nonchalantly " Nah she isn't. Her name is Daisy Oak and she's the granddaughter of Professor Oak. I am working at Oaks lab as a researcher right now and he asked me to escort her."

Mr. R looked stunned for a sec and asked:" You're a researcher?"

"Yeah my Old man his and that's what I have been doing for a couple of years"

Damn, and I thought that you were a new trainer.

Well, I am I never owned a pokemon before but that has changed. I don't know why but before I wasn't really interested in becoming a trainer. Now I want to travel to become a trainer and conduct my research at the same time.

Well, good luck to you. It will be hard but with that mentality, I believe it will work out.

The two finished setting up the stall. Lan then handed the two Pokeballs with the Poliwags to Mr. R " Here are the two pokemon I promised. Nurse Joy said that they are quite young and will need extra attention. So good luck"

the two went inside where they see Daisy brushing Vulpix who is loving the attention. Across the counter was an elderly woman about the same age as Mr. R she was sitting at the counter talking to Daisy.

Wait here Lan I'll go grab your stuff. After a little bit, Mr. R came from the back with a large leather hiking bag. It was a little worn but it was extremely spacious while not being overly big. Inside it had a tripod and a wok like pan. It also had a lot of other small tools in a toolbox and first aid kit. It also had a waterproof map and a leather journal. There was a rolled-up sleeping bag on the outside of the backpack.

Lan was amazed at all the things that were in the package. This was way more than what he was expecting "Looks like I won't have to by cooking pans anymore." Lan bowed toward the old man.

While all he got was a laugh in response. The group then started conversing. While Mr. R's wife brought some food and they conversed for a while.

Lan then decided to do a little training with Growlithe since they had a little bit of free time before their group was going to enjoy the festival.

Lan and Growlithe started walking down the streets. They eventually found an open field that they could use to practice. Lan then took out his Pokedex and scanned Growlithe in order to know where they stood.

After a light training session, Lan and Growlithe returned to the store to see Daisy sitting at the booth playing with Vulpix. He smiled and greeted her.

Soon enough the Mr. R and his wife came out of the store. They looked at Daisy and said "Thanks sweety for taking over the desk. We can just leave it. We will just put flyers out and the neighbors will watch over it. Why don't you two come with us and we will show you around the festival?"

Daisy happily replied, " That would be awesome, I haven't been here for the festival since I was kid."

Lan, Daisy and the Couple slowly made their way through the streets while occasionally stopping at stalls and looking around. Daisy bought a couple of festive dresses and accessories for her competitions. While the couple bought a couple things but it was mostly Mr. R buying jewelry for his wife.

They spent some more time enjoying and roaming the festival until they ended up in the main square where there was a couple of battle arenas set up.

Lan read the extremely large banner " Moon Festival Battle Competition". He was trembling with excitement this was exactly what he needed. His Pokemon needed an official battle setting.

Lan then said the group " Hey guys I am going to go enter the competition. I'll catch up you guys in a little bit" He then preceded to run off.

Hold it right there young man " I am coming with you. I am not missing out on this year's battles." laughed Mr.R.

"Mr. R your battling also?"

"Yep, there are also some good prizes this year or so I have heard. Hehe"

The duo preceded to walk off in order to sign up for the competition.

Daisy looked at the Owner's wife beside her and just shook her head " They are just like children aren't they". The latter nodded and just laughed.

"I knew this would happen. Every year his d.e.s.i.r.e to battle is reignited. <Sigh> Well we are getting up there in age and can't really travel that much anymore so it is hard for him to stay in one place all the time. When he was younger he went on a journey and if I am not mistaken he always thought of your Grandfather as a rival. I am not too sure Sammual would think it that way but who knows."

Daisy gasps "No way he was rivals with Grandpa? Man when I get home I will have to ask him about it"

"Alright enough dilly dally, let us get some good seats in the stands the tournament should be starting soon."
