Pokemon: The Wandering Guardian

Both Lan and Mr. R received their tickets for entry. The clerk at the front desk indicated that there were just over 32 participants in these contests.

First Place won a pokemon egg from a breeder in the Jhoto region. Second place received a voucher for a random pokemon lottery sponsored by the local Pokemon Center while the third place would be given a voucher for any four standard trainer items sold at a league-sponsored shop.

The Competition was a single-elimination tournament where each trainer could only use one Pokemon for each battle.

Lan was placed at Stage 2 while Mr. R was assigned to Stage 1.

Mr. R. " Good luck son. I will not hold back if we meet up I am planning on winning this one and getting the Grand Prize."

Lan"No problem Old Man I will not be holding back if we meet. But just making sure if you get the Grand Prize doesn't that mean that you will be raising THREE baby Pokemon at the same time?"

Mr. R stopped abruptly in his tracks and formed a cold sweat when he heard what Lan just said.

"Anyways old man Ill go up first. My opponent is already there."

Lan walked up to the second stage confidently showing no signs of the weak mentality that he used to have. When he arrived on stage Lan just stood there and looked at the crowd. He saw Daisy and Mrs. R sitting in the stands in between Stage 1 and Stage 2 where he was currently at.

Lan's attention was drawn back to his battle by the Announcer of the arena.

"HELLO LADIES AND GENTLEMAN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE TOURNAMENT IS ABOUT TO COMMENCE. THIS WILL BE A 1V1 BATTLE AND THE WINNER WILL CONTINUE WHILE THE LOSER WILL BE ELIMINATED!

SO NOW LET US NOT WASTE ANY TIME AND GET THE MATCHES STARTED.

IN ARENA 1 WE HAVE:

YOUNGSTER JIMMY FROM PETEALBURG CITY

VS

BUG CATCHER MATTHEW

FOLLOWING THAT MATCH IN ARENA 2 WE HAVE:

HOMETOWN FAVORITE KURT

VS

TRAINER LAN

AND WRAPPING IT ALL UP ON THE LAST STAGE WE HAVE:

OLD MAN JONES FROM MARSHAL BREEDING COMPANY

VS

MISS AMBER FROM VIRIDIAN TRAINER SCHOOL

NOW LET THE MATCHES BEGIN!!!!"

Lan calmly gazes at his opponent he was a trainer about the same age as himself with red hair and a face that was oozing confidence. He then smirked at Lan and yelled " Come on out Pidgeotto, We got this"

[Pidgeotto!!!!]

Lan smiled "Let's do this Growlithe"

[GROWWWWLITHE]

Growlithe roared on the stage earning the cheers from the crowd.

Pidgeotto wing attack!

[Otto!]

Pidgeotto started to fly very fast at the Growlithe on the ground while it just stood there in an aggressive manner.

Lan smirked and waited till the Pidgeoto was getting closer to Growlithe. "Growlithe jump up and counter with bite"

Growlithe jumped immediately while Pidgeoto was a second from making contact with him. Pidgeotos attack grazed some of Growlithes fur but instead of knocking it out like it and its owner had thought Growlithe was now bitten ones of its wings.

"PIDGEOTO!! SHAKE HIM OFF"

Pidgeoto immediately tried to flap its wings and shake the Pokemon off but it seemed to be really heavy and made it hard to flap its wings.

"Not so fast Growlithe release and use ember"

Growlithe released his bite and spat a large ember onto the body of the large bird then he landed gracefully from his fall.

Pidgeoto screamed out in pain while Lan yelled" Trap it with Fire Spin"

Growlithe immediately released a blue and white vortex of flame effectively trapping

"Pidgeoto! Don't hold back use whirlwind blow the fire away"

One could hear the cries of Pidgeoto as it struggled to attempt to put out the flaming vortex with the gusts of wind. The wind just seemed to make the vortex worse.

"Growlithe finish this off with Ember!!"

[Growlitheeeee!]

The embers were thrown into the vortex and an explosion occurred. smoke covered the arena and when it cleared Pidgeoto was lying on the ground fainted.

The Referee from the second Arena announced Pidgeoto is unable to battle Growlithe is the Winner. The Victory goes to Trainer Lan!

The crowd cheered for the exciting battle while Lan was thrilled from his first win as his Pokemon Trainer.

Lan returned Growlithe and made his way to the center of the arena to shake hands with his opponent.

Lan smiled and shook the trainer's hand "It was a good match I had a lot of fun".

" Tsk if I had such a rare Pokemon I would have beaten you like the rich person you are. Once Pidgeoto evolves you won't stand a chance"

" Uhhh" Lan was stunned because that was not the reaction he was expecting because he just thought it was a friendly match.

His opponent just stomped off and one could see his face turn red from anger almost to match his hair color.

Lan internally sighed ' Well I guess he thought I was rich which I definitely am not since I only have less than 1000Poke in my account. I guess I will just have to deal with trainers like that sometimes.'

Lan then preceded to walk down from the stage and walked to where Daisy and Mrs. R was sitting.

"Lan that was an amazing battle. I never knew that you had it in you the way that you act like a researcher all the time being clumsy and a kid and all"

" Ughh that hurts right here Daisy (clutching his heart). I am not a kid and just because I like researching doesn't make me clumsy and uncoordinated when it comes to battles. Battles are nothing like research"

"So what your saying is that you are clumsy when it comes to research"

"Ugh, That's exactly why I can never win an argument against you"

Daisy just smirked and Mrs. R just laughed at the two.

L just slumped back into a chair and preceded to rest up while turning his attention to Mr. R's match that was currently taking place on Stage 1.

Mr. R "Vulpix dodge and use Ember "

Vulpix jumped to the side and used ember on the opposing Pokemon which also was a Vulpix.

Lan " Who is Mr. R Battling? "

Mrs. R " That is the Young Master of Millington family. They are the ric.h.e.s.t family around here and own most of the big businesses. They are always arrogant and that brat is their only child. He is spoiled and they get him anything he wants.

Young Master " Quick Attack Vulpix Knock it out or I will not give you any food tonight. "

Vulpix used Quick Attack and tackled Mr. R's Vulpix. The former struggled to get up and was struggling really hard.

Mr. R sighed and spoke " I forfeit " then walked over to Vulpix.

The referee yelled, "Master Jonathan is the winner and moves into the next round."

Mr. R took out a potion and began treating Vulpix with great care.

Suddenly everyone heard the Young Master screaming " Stupid Pokemon I said to knock it out, You can't do one simple task" he kicked his own Vulpix which landed with a <Thud>.

The audience took in a short breath and had a hint of disgust in their eyes but they didn't say anything since they knew the backing of this kid.

"WILLIAMS !!"

" Yes, young master." A butler appeared out of nowhere.

"Here is weaklings Pokeball go and get rid of it tomorrow. I want it out of my sight. I will ask my Dad to buy me something stronger tomorrow"

The butler returned the now injured Vulpix to its Pokeball and preceded to follow behind his Young Master.

Suddenly "Wait what are you going to do to that Pokemon?"

Lan then jumped down from the stands and ran towards the duo.

The butler replied " The pokemon will be released tomorrow or sold to our stores"

Lan gritted his teeth in anger and he could feel his mark on his c.h.e.s.t burning due to his emotions. He then asked in a voice that was trying to be as nice as possible "May I buy it from you then"

The butler turned to look at his Young Master who just stood back scowled at Lan. He then stated " Give it to him Williams no need for payment. A Trash Pokemon for a Trash Master."

Lan seriously was about to run up and punch this stuck up brat but he held it in for this Pokemon's fate.

The Butler nodded and preceded to hand over Vulpix's Pokeball to Lan while following behind his master who went over to an area of Luxurious seating to wait for his next match.

Lan couldn't care less about the stares he was getting and immediately ran towards the Pokemon Center.
