Pokemon: The Wandering Guardian

Chapter 24 - Return (1)

The next day Lan immediately contacted the Nurse Joy at the counter and received extremely good news as Vulpix's recovery was faster than expected and was returned to Lan. Lan immediately went to Rover's and grabbed his things that he had left at the shop before last night's festival. He said another brief Thank You and went to the market once more.

He bought berries and a juicer that wasn't included in the stuff of his deal. He then went to the open space inside the Pokemon Center and released all of his Pokemon.

There were three flashes and three pokemon were standing in front of him. One overly large Growlithe that was currently sleeping and two Vulpixs. Lan recognized Rover's Vulpix because it was larger and had shinier fur that the other.

Lan then greeted the two foxes. He said to them " Hey guys my name is Lan I am going to make some food so just play around for a bit."

The smaller Vulpix backed up away from Lan when he was talking to it while the larger one went up to Lan and rubbed up against his feet. It had previously seen how Growlithe battled and it wanted to become stronger to not be able to feel what it felt in its last match.

Lan just smiled and pulled out a brush along with various berries from his backpack. He then set them in three separate bowls that he had got from Rover.

Growlithe immediately perked up and looked at his food before gobbling the food up. The larger Vulpix was still enjoying getting brushed from Lan while the last Vulpix was watching the other Pokemon but was keeping an eye on Lan the whole time. It felt hungry and inched over to the food in front of it hesitantly. It then sniffed it picked up a berry and slowly ate it while keeping watch on Lan and the large Growlithe.

Growlithe finished off his food and looked around at the new Pokemon. Seeing the Vulpix at Lans feet it remembered it form the day before. He then looked at the other one who was being timid and was quietly eating. He then eyed the full bowl of berries in the middle. He then looked back at the Larger Vulpix and seemed to come to a decision in its mind.

He stood up slowly and walked over to the unoccupied bowl as quietly as possible. He then started to eat quietly as possible.

Lan saw this whole scene happening but he did not stop it because he wanted to see the Pokemon's interactions.

A couple seconds later while being brushed Vulpix saw Growlithe at her food bowl. She was hungry but she just liked being brushed even more. She immediately escaped from Lan and charged at Growlithe.

Growlithe lifted his head from the bowl because he thought he heard something. Suddenly there where many embers hitting his head. He was startled and tried to avoid it but it was no use. The embers his face sending a couple feet back and sprawled in a clumsy position.

The shyer Vulpix was also startled but soon resumed eating. Vulpix was annoyed with Growlithe and immediately huffed and turned its head from the Growlithe while looking at its food that was not eaten. It then preceded to eat its food elegantly.

Lan just laughed and walked over to Growlithe and patted his head " You know you kind of deserved that one. Haha, She will probably kick your b.u.t.t if you are not careful." He preceded to pull out some more berries and gave them to Growlithe to satiate his hunger.

Lan's Pokemon finished eating without any more major events. Lan then returned them to their Pokeballs much to Growlithe's dissatisfaction.

Lan then packed up and went to meet Daisy out front.

...

After meeting up with Daisy they started to head back to Pallet Town. The trip took just over eight hours because they had to make multiple stops to rest in addition to Growlithe and Vulpix battled the aggressive Pokemon. They had spent some money on repels but the distance was just too far and Daisy was not used to traveling by foot that much other than moving around in the cities and such.

Daisy: "Ughh I really need to buy a vehicle or something. Maybe when Grandpa gets a new vehicle I can ask him for the other one. He can almost never refuse my puppy-dog eyes"

Lan snickered, "Daisy I didn't know you were that sinister."

"I am not as bad as you training your Pokemon. You work them so hard. I kind of feel bad for them." laughed Daisy.

Lan complained, "What's wrong I am helping them get stronger. That they will be able to compete at a higher level."

"You are really going all-in on being a trainer," said Daisy.

"Yeah well, I think I have found a direction for what I want to do in the future and becoming a great trainer is only the first step."

Smiling like she was up to something Daisy replied, "Is that so ... Okay, so let's make a bet. "

" Oooh, I am interested now, since when did you become a gambler the ever so innocent Daisy Oak?" chuckled Lan while Daisy when she turned beet red.

Shouting she yelled "Shut it, Lan. I am saying let's make a bet right here right NOW."

"Now who is acting like a child Daisy? said Lan who could hardly control his laughter.

She continued ignoring the guy next to her "I want you to enter this years Kanto Leauge. I know my little brother Gary will enter because he has already told me about it on the phone. If Gary gets a higher ranking at the end I win. If you get a higher ranking you win."

" Okay well, this is interesting now. I was looking for something to do rather than just travel aimlessly and do some exploring around Kanto.

So what is up with this Leauge. Didn't you call me and I quote 'a recluse researcher that doesn't know anything other than his research and his Pokemon'." Quoted Lan

"Hehe I did say that, and it is true you have no common sense. Anyway, the Kanto Leauge is a Leauge for Pokemon trainers to compete and to enter the final tournament a trainer has to obtain badges from the eight gyms spread around Kanto. SO you would need to go to challenge all of the gyms by the end of this year..."

"I am interested even more now. I might of ending up joining it even without you telling me about it. So getting back, If I compete what happens if I get higher than Gary in the Final tournament? Since you are so confident in him."

"If you win the bet I'll let you have a date with me."

"Why would I want to have a date with you?" Lan was utterly confused at this situation. 'Isn't her having a date just him spending money and hanging out with Daisy? I do that anyway so why is that a condition if I win?'

Meanwhile, Daisy muttered "Idiot see what I said NO common sense" but Lan did not hear her.

Lan then said "Okay but in addition to that, every time I see you you have to give all my Pokemon a professional grooming"

Daisy perked up and immediately shouted "Deal, Then if I win you will help me get a new Pokemon of my choice no matter what the cost and you will take me on a shopping spree with you paying of course"

Lan" Uggh why do you have to make this difficult?"

Daisy glared at me trying to provoke me. And it worked

<Deep Breath> x 2

"Okay Deal, let's shake on it" The two people shook hands to establish the bet.

Daisy "Then lets hurry I can finally see the sign over that hill. I can't wait to get back home."
