Rebirth: Blades Of Exile

Chapter 5 - Sands of despair 2

[Sands of despair debuff in effect, 200 burn damage per second]

I instantly felt myself heat up, my nerves were being constantly stimulated because of the debuff.

considering my HP, I would probably die in 3 mins or so.

this trial sure didn't want me to survive huh.

I'm just glad I didn't get this debuff in midst of my fight with the lizardman archer, or id already be amongst the dead.

I opened my status menu and started investing in my CON, it was the only way for me to survive my current predicament.

instantly adding 56 points into my constitution, I reached the first-star threshold.

simply speaking, those who broke through the threshold, were way stronger than those who didn't.

let's say we have 2 guys who have the exact same allocation of stats, but they differ in strength, where one has 100 stats and the other has 99, the later won't be able to even take a single punch from the one who broke through the threshold.

and to break through that threshold myself, I had to invest 20 points into my constitution.

and without hesitation, I did, I had no choice in the matter anyway.

thinking about it, it should have been impossible for me to kill that lizardman, something about me in that fight was different, there is no possible way for a being that hasn't broken through any stats to defeat one who did in several.

something must have influenced me, and I think I just might know what it is.

The abyss gazer, it was a title I've never heard of before, but whatever its effects were, they should be S rank in minimum.

finally, my regeneration overtook my debuff by 100 per second, and my HP started filling up again, a sign of relief unconsciously left my mouth.

hahaha

Happiness filled me to the brim, another useful skill, I knew I would be rewarded a skill related to my constitution when I broke through, something like the Iron skin passive or Coiled skin perhaps, but I never expected something such as toughness would pop out, this was such a useful skill, to the point that humanity's top spared no effort to put their hands on it, that stood to tell just how important of a skill this passive was.

whenever one broke through the threshold, the ancient god's gift would assess the stats that have broken through and give a skill according to the previous effort that has been put into that stat.

Mine, for example, was 43 in constitution with no Points invested in, which was pretty high considering that the average person only had a 10 to 15 CON, I was probably on the same level as orcs and draconian.

Toughness, Passive, C-rank: Nullifies 20℅ of physical damage received.

I could see why people would do anything to get such a skill.

snapping out of my amazement, I looked down at the lizardman's corpse.

it was time to check the loot.

I bent down my knees and started checking the poor guy out.

the bow and arrows were nowhere to be spotted, a natural occurrence, sometimes the monster's weapon would drop, but it most cases it would just disappear, but it didn't bother me at all, I'm not an archer after all.

First I picked up some coins that were lying by the corpse side.

[You have acquired 213 coins] coins were pretty useful, but not now, since I had no access to the shop yet.

moving on I spotted a blade shining under the lizardman, and I couldn't help but feel excited, because a shining weapon meant it was of high-quality one.

weapons were classified from Bronze, Silver, Impressive, Unique, Legendary, Mythical, and godly.

I picked up the blade, and I couldn't feel more comfortable then I did now, because to a blade user his blade was his life.

The Lost Sand's Fang

Quality: Impressive

Durability: 412/412

Attack: 417~638

+30 Armor penetration

Condition's: Min 50 Strength, Min 60 Dex, Min 60 Agi.

A blade forged from the life fang of a Sandworm that lived for 3 decades.

Impressive indeed, I ended up readjusting my stats again so I can equip my new weapon.

I had 108 unassigned points now.

what was left was a red vial and the corpse of the lizardman, I already knew what that vial was because I couldn't be more familiar with it, it was one of the most important items I could get right now, a health potion.

Advanced Health Potion.

recovers 500 HP per second for the duration of 10 secs.

I shoved it inside my backpack, then I picked up my knife again, and started dismantling the lizardman, I couldn't waste such resources, I mean I'm in a deadly desert, after all, I should make use of everything I come across, only then do I stand a chance at survival.

after I was done skinning it, I took out some empty bottles from my backpack and started storing the lizard's blood within them, I will run out of water in the future, so I had to take precautions.

then I started cutting the meat and remaking them into Jerkies, roughly one hour later, the only thing left of the corpse were bones.

I wrapped my stuff in the lizard's skin and sprinted away.

it was a deadly silent place, the more I stayed there, the more anxious I felt.
