Sasha's Dream

Chapter 13 - The White Crystal

Sasha and Doko had been walking for quite a while. It was a new rout which was unknown to her. She noticed eventually that the grasses and trees started to look darker as they moved on ahead.

Out of curiosity, she finally asked him.

"Where are you taking me, Doko?"

"You'll see soon enough."

Then, after a while longer, they reached their destination. Sasha was stunned at what she saw standing before her. She was standing still without uttering a single word.

"We're here," said Doko.

It was a huge and mighty structure with lots of designs in it. There were some beautifully decorated pillars which supported the upper parts and designs of the structure. In the middle of the designs was a statue of a being with big eyes and its hands out front.

A little further the pillars, there were some stairs which lead to a shiny crystal floating over a dark and thick branch. On the wall behind the crystal was a drawing of clouds and stars. In the middle there was  the drawing of two fairies Stretching out their hands towards the crystal. They were placed right below the structure of the being's hands.

As Sasha got enchanted by the exceptional beauty of the place, Doko started to tell her about the history of the same.

"This great building has been standing here from long before we know it. It rains, snows, heats up ; but this mysterious structure never changes. The grass here is greener and the trees bigger. The villagers call it 'a pure place'."

Sasha paid attention to Doko as he continued, "In this building rests the 'White Crystal'. The biggest mystery is that nobody has ever been able to touch it no matter what."

"That is very mysterious," Sasha finally said,"I wonder why no one was able to touch it. The crystal looks so pretty and all..."

After the long explanation, Doko finally took his eyes away from the structure and set them on her.

"So, wanna give it a shot?" Doko smiled as he proposed to her.

Hearing him, she got startled.

"Me?"

"That's why I brought you here. Even I or Lily couldn't do it," finally revealing his reason, he again said,

"So, what do you say?"

She thought for a moment. Though she was able to gain the trust of some villagers, she wasn't confident enough. All she could imagine was failing. Though that's all she could think of at the moment, she knew that she had to try. Otherwise, she wouldn't grow.

"Okay. I'll give it a try," she finally said.

Soon afterwards, she climbed up the stairs and went near the crystal. It was glowing brightly. It had some shades of light pink and indigo and  very faint lines of green indicating a flower.

She then stretched out both of her hands towards the crystal. As she did so, a really strange wind started to blow. Suddenly, the intensity of the wind increased by a lot. She couldn't take cover against the strong wind and as a result, she got blown away.

"Ahhh!!!" She yelled.

"Sasha!!! Doko called out and jumped immediately to catch her.

Fortunately, he was successful. He held her by the hand and landed with her safely.

Sasha sat down on the dark grass and started to take deep breathes. Doko got worried seeing her like that.

" Um... Are you OK, Sasha?"

"Yeah. I'm fe - fine..." Sasha replied in an unstable tone.

Doko didn't ask or say anything more to her thinking that she needed some time to catch her breath.

However, after a while, Sasha said on her own,"That was really scary!"

"You really had me worried," said he thinking that she was alright.

"Thanks for saving me, Doko."

"Oh, no... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have put you in harm's way."

Giving a small pause, he continued, "I'm impressed, though. No one has been able to go so far as you have."

Sasha was surprised herself as she heard him say that. Perhaps it made her feel more confident about her own abilities.

"Anyways, let's go to the village," Doko suggested. Sasha finally stood up and agreed. So, they started walking towards the village. She went on ahead of Doko. Doko was right behind her watching.

On their way, Doko suddenly sensed a presence. He knew exactly who it was. Quickly he turned around and found a small black mass of floating circles.

"Have you been here the whole time, Lily?"

"Yeah... You got me," replied the black mass. It was indeed Lily in another form which allowed her to erase her presence almost entirely. But, Doko was sharp enough to pick that up.

"Why are you hiding?"

"Well, it's no fun getting discovered while keeping watch."

"I bet you were watching Sasha, weren't you?"

"Of course, I was! I was surprised, though... I never thought she could come so close."

"Well, that's Sasha for you!" Doko said with an air of confidence.

As Lily was present before in an incomplete state, Doko couldn't see her expression. But, he could hear her voice. So, whenever she said something, he would perhaps guess what kind of expressions she was putting on.

"I noticed something, Doko," said she making a serious expression (Which Doko guessed according to the deep and mysterious voice she was talking with). She continued after a short pause.

"You always behave as if you knew her for a long time. Why is that?"

He got surprised. He never thought that Lily would figure it out. Was he being too careless? Or was it because of being too simple and soft towards her and being protective? After wondering for a short moment, he finally prepared himself to tell her everything.

"Actually—"

"Doko? Are you coming?" Sasha called out suddenly from a distance. Well, she did keep on walking forward without noticing Lily. All those time, She thought that Doko was walking right behind her. Maybe it was because of being overwhelmed with joy for being admired by Doko. When she finally looked back, she was just as surprised as Doko was at that moment.

Not because of the fact that Sasha might have heard their conversion for he knew that it was impossible for her to hear Lily in her(Lily's) current form. It was because he realised that he was about to unvail a history between he and her (Sasha) right in front of the person whom he did not want to inform just yet.

Quickly, he looked back and struggled a bit as he called back,"Yes! Be right there!"

He turned at Lily again.

"It's bit of a sudden encounter. I'll tell you all about it later," he said.

Lily accepted it immediately understanding the situation and disappeared.

Doko ran to Sasha as he wanted no suspicion.

"Sorry to keep you waiting"

"No, it's not a problem. Were you talking to someone?"

"No, I wasn't. I was just saying goodbye to this mighty place. It is worthy after all."

"I see. Then I'll too... Good bye. Hope we meet again."

He looked at her feeling a little bit of guilt.
