Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 15 - Cashing Out

"What do I think of your proposal... I think I'll accept it."

"What?"

"Jun Long you can't be serious..."

A smile appeared on the old man.

"Good, you know what's best for you. Sadly, your friends aren't going to get the same treatment!"

He walked closer to my fellow disciples and charged. At this point, I was behind him. A smile appeared on my face this time! Tsk, tsk, tsk.

"Just kidding."

I stabbed my hand right through his back. He fell to the floor. His face was filled with confusion and shock.

Foolish old man... he actually thought I was going to take his offer! Joining a weaker sect! What a joke... who does he think I am? Some kind of idiot? I'll show him that I'm a Dragon!

I then heard the old man's final words...

"Damn... you... boy."

Liu Lei jumped in joy.

"You... are... amazing, Long!"

I was showered with praise from my fellow disciples for a minute. Then everything died down... the feeling of triumph faded as quickly as it appeared.

Then I looked down and the old man's body disappeared... into a puff of smoke! He then reappeared in front of me and stared me down with his cold black eyes. Then, in a patronising tone, he spoke.

"It's not nice to stab your elders in the back... kid."

BANG!

He sent me flying a hundred meters back... I crashed into a tree. The old man looked at the others and a devilish smile appeared on his face.

"I will be merciful, just this once. You brats can all scatter and never bother me again... while I deal with your friend over there."

Everyone apart from Liu Lei left the scene as fast as possible... Lei was very hesitant. Then tears dripped down his face and for the first time, he spoke in a vengeful tone.

"You... I'll find you one day... and KILL YOU."

After saying that, Liu Lei ran as fast as he could. He promised to himself that one day, he would avenge his best friend. He would pass that stupid one hundred day training, grow, complete harder missions and grow even more. Then, when he was ready... he would set fire to the sect and to that old man specifically. At least, that's what he wanted to do.

"Brats nowadays are far too emotional... he will forget about you in a few years or so, that I promise."

The old man walked closer to me, slowly closing the hundred-meter gap.

~Inside

The Crimson Dragon stared down on me with clear disappointment.

"Is this how your story will end? After you made that great promise? How far have you fallen? I remember you were a Dragon who conquered Stepstones, and the Narrow Sea. So many tried to halt your progress but you broke through their pathetic barriers... and continued to grow. Your growth kept Robert awake every night... and the loyalists finally had hope of a Targaryen on the Iron Throne. You would let all of your followers down if this is the end."

"I... don't know what to do...! What do you want me to do, O wise and critical Crimson Dragon? Stand up and beat up a man who is a thousand times stronger than me!?"

"Well, that would be a grand spectacle... but the most important thing is survival! Swallow your pride and run, or surrender. Then you can continue to grow and, eventually burn all of your enemies to the ground! He's an old man, how hard could it be outrun him!?"

"Very damn hard! He may be old, but I'm sure he could walk faster than I can run!"

"Well... that's your problem, not mine. Don't fear death, fight it."

~

"Do you have any last words, boy?"

"Yes... I hate stags."

"I see... goodbye, then."

His sword slowly fell on me. But then it was halted.

"No, I got some more last words to say. I hate lions too, I love my family, I wish I had a valyrian steel sword and a beautiful loving wife."

The old man sighed in frustration.

"Are you done...?"

"No... not yet. I still haven't said the last of my "last words". I hate silver wolves and dragons with no wings. Hmm, I think I've said everything... I can die happily now."

"Good... NOW DIE!"

~

Perfect counter. His sword was driven forward, into the tree. The old man looked around, confused, while Aerion was running away as fast as he could. The only noise that Aerion could hear was his own heavy breathing and footsteps... the forest was suspiciously silent. This didn't stop Aerion from running, though.

The old man was flying directly above Aerion and shaking his head.

"Did he really think he could elude the Demon King? That foolish, deceiving boy... I should play with him a little longer. Yes, that would be very... fun. I want to see his face filled with hopelessness... I want to see him beg for mercy and for forgiveness."

Eventually, Aerion stopped running due to exhaustion. He was positive that he escaped the old man after sprinting for a whole kilometre. He settled down on the grass for some rest. His heavy breathing died down slowly, second by second. Then he was startled by a noise in the forest... bushes shuddering. Aerion instinctively knew who it was... the Demon King. Apparently, bushes were his favourite thing to touch. Aerion wanted to stand up and run but he was halted by the figure in front of him.

"Where do you think you're going? The chase was fun and all, but I think it's time you die."

Those words were like daggers... my eyes saw a movement. His sword... it was coming straight down to slash me. As I usually would, I sidestepped to avoid the blow... but it was too quick for me to dodge.

SLASH!

My left arm dropped to the floor... crimson blood sprayed across the green field, tainting its green colour. I fell to the floor, completely unconscious.

"Poor boy... he died in such a sad way. I will leave his body for the animals of the forest, I'm a charitable man... oh yes I am. Kekeke."

The old man laughed into the distance, praising himself.

~

The arm that was cut off dissipated into dust... and a new arm began to grow. Dragon scales started to form together into an arm, filling the hole. Aerion's body was slowly recovering from the blow, piece by piece. The blood that was spilt was replaced with dragon blood from the Dragon God marrow and Aerion's left arm could now be moved as if it was a real arm. The animals of the forest couldn't cause any serious damage as they were too weak, any damage that was caused would've been instantly nullified by Aerion's scale regeneration.

Eventually, the scales on his left arm fell. Though it wasn't like before... they left traces. It looked like skin on the outside, but if one were to look closely... they would see crimson faded scales. Even the almighty scale regeneration couldn't fully heal the arm, it was too big of a wound. Aerion's left arm would permanently have those near-invisible scales from now on...

~Awakening

Damn... where am I... what? The same forest... I'm still alive! I slowly stood up and instantly looked at my left arm. It's still... there? But it was cleanly cut off... I saw it myself. I inspect my left arm more closely and notice that I have dim dragon scale patterns everywhere. Is this... permanent? Whatever the case may be, I'm just glad I have both of my arms.

I catch a rabbit, cook it and eat it to satiate my hunger. Now that I was full, I could go somewhere. Sure, I would like to return to the Noble Rogue Sect and tell them how retarded this mission was but I want to do something before any of that... I want to make that old Sky Profound geezer pay. I know I can't hurt him physically, but I can definitely hurt him mentally AND financially. What if all of his Sect's wealth just vanished in one night? I'm sure he would turn his entire sect upside down in anger...

It's decided, I'm going to rob his sect blind! Consider this your first official payment, Demon King.

I retraced my steps to the Sect and smiled once I reached my destination. I walked a bit further away from the sect and slept for a few hours, waiting for the sun to go down.

~

It was midnight, the perfect time to strike. This... will be heaps of fun.

I infiltrated the Sect with ease, as I had experience and my team wasn't slowing me down. I avoided every guard as if I was just a shadow, they couldn't see me. So this is what Shun Zhi meant by "becoming a shadow", his training wasn't for nothing. After a few minutes of sneaking around, I reached the most luxurious house which was at the very centre of the sect. This has to be his.

The guards in the house were half-asleep so I went right past them. There weren't many things of value in the first floor, so I went to the lower floors. Once I reached the lowest floor, there was a sign that said "The Vault". In front of the vault stood a guard, though he wasn't very alert. I crept closer to him and snapped his neck with my left arm. There was a lock... and the guard had it on him! How convenient.

I unlock the vault and drag the guard's body inside. I myself go inside and close the vault door. Then I stare at all of the treasures in front of me. I lick my lips and start pillaging!

Pills, money, storage rings, weapons, books? I'll take EVERYTHING.

Once I cleaned the entire vault of all its treasures, I left a note on the dead guard's forehead. It said:

"Thanks for the goodies, Demon King! I'll be sure to make good use of them. By the way, you should get some better guards. I will come back later... so be ready (smiley face). -Jun Long"

Now that I was done robbing the vault, there wasn't any reason for me to stay here. So I left the sect, as easily as I entered.

It was all done... that old geezer crossed me and I robbed him blind for doing it. It was well justified. All of the resources I've gained... it shouldn't be too hard to reach the Spirit Profound Realm in a few months.

It's time for the Dragon to grow again!
