Targaryen Who Turned Dragon

Chapter 82 - A Contract

From my blood, a new God shall be born. He has no name… only a purpose. To bring truth to those who are blind, the simple power of any Sovereign, King, and Emperor. The power to give commands and see them follow through, without any hesitation… but this shall only be true to those weaker than I, for the Ruler must be the most powerful among his ranks.

Izanagi's voice resonated in the darkness.

A new power… and so similar to Rotias' own power to control others, could it be that the situation influenced the type of power I was granted? It would only make sense…

~

The Heavenly Demon placed the block of ice closer to Aerion. He noticed the sword that Rotias had used and decided to take it from the ground. It was a powerful weapon, why let it go to waste?

Eventually, the Dragonsguard, along with a few noble rogues, caught up.

"What's inside of that block of ice?" Tai Shu asked.

"The Saint Emperor… or whatever remains of him."

"Is he dead?"

"Not quite. He is alive and well… mostly."

"Alive? He should be killed for his actions!"

"That would be against his Lord's wishes." The Heavenly Demon countered, rather coldly.

"If my son-in-law saw that it was best to keep him alive, then so be it. We should focus on much more pressing matters now, mainly, the reconstruction of the Noble Rogue Sect."

"Wisely said, Tai Wentian." The Heavenly Demon agreed.

And so, the noble rogues were released from their outposts and marched to their ancestral home. Oldtown, now a broken city, needed some serious work done to it. But the most important thing was the Fortress. The Grandmaster asked for financial assistance to multiple sources, including several powerful sects and even the Blue Wind Imperial Family. The results were rather strange as barely any replied and even less helped. They were scared of the Saint Emperor… who was stated to be dead, yet people didn't believe it. No one could possibly defeat him, right? When the names Jun Long and Aerion Targaryen were brought up, people saw it as some joke.

The Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace did help, though, and it was more than enough to restore the Fortress. The Noble Rogue Sect numbered a grand total of ten thousand, after all.

The Divine Phoenix Empire did not sit idly after the Four Great Sacred Grounds crumbled into nothing more but a few remnants of the Absolute Monarch Sanctuary. She was quick to invade and take whatever was left. The strongest resistance she received was that of a peak Tyrant as Rotias had killed all of his Sovereigns to further his own strength. With their mighty Saint Emperor gone missing, the Absolute Monarch Sanctuary stood no chance and so, the Divine Phoenix Empire reaped the rewards. This helped further the Divine Phoenix Empire's strength and solidified it as the Profound Sky Continent's supreme, and undisputed, Overlord.

(Not for long…. hahahaha)

~3 months after the battle~

My sight… at last!

Aerion opened his eyes and only saw fire. He had spent the entire time in the Volcano of Floor Six. He made some progress but it was not enough to breakthrough to the Sovereign Profound Realm. But, he was extremely close.

I remember when breakthroughs were so easy… those times are long gone.

Aerion left Floor Six and returned to his physical body. He didn't really know what to expect…

A room…nice, comfortable bed. Looks like no one else has visited my bed recently. Well, that was to be expected. I was in a coma for the whole time… mainly because I didn't want to wake up without my eyesight.

Aerion got out of bed and realised that his body was weak due to the poison. Only some of it was purified by the mighty Sky Poison Pearl, which meant that the poison still had a strong presence.

How irritating… I will need to put that evil infant in his place.

Aerion entered the Sky Poison Pearl and searched for the Evil Infant's Wheel of Myriad Tribulations. He found it rather quickly. The Heavenly Treasure was the first to speak.

"My master's second greatest rival… are you here to beg?"

It can speak… this will either make things easier or difficult, depending on the spirit. It's looking like the latter.

"Me, beg? You must not know who I am. I suggest you take back your poison before I break you in half."

"Break me in half? Now that's arrogant… but, you should know that I am no Sky Poison Pearl. I don't cure poison… I release it. Now, I could release some more… but that wouldn't be in my best interests."

If I die, so does the Sky Poison Pearl… so it would result in the Wheel dying as well, probably. Or it might just leave the Sky Poison Pearl somehow.

"My previous master is at the mercy of your sword. He was a vile man… turning me into his slave against my will again. But I am now free from his control thanks to you. I have no intention of being alone and isolated… so I will offer you a contract."

"Again?"

"That was a long, long, time ago…."

Rotias used it to create the mightiest poison… the one that injured the Major Gods, I'm sure of it.

"So, are you going to accept the contract and become my master?"

"I'm not sure about that…"

You led to two calamities, the one that weakened the Major Gods and erased all minor gods, and the other that killed all True Gods and Devils. So many died… how could I…

"Do not be afraid of my power… I'm a good child…"

"Jasmine?"

"Do what you want, I don't care."

That's not useful advice…

Sigh, I am a Dragon. If there is one person who is worthy of wielding this treasure it is I, Aerion Targaryen. But it will only act as my last resort.

"So… are you going to leave me all alone or…"

"Fine! I accept your contract. I will be your master from this day forth."

The spirit smiled. "And I will be your weapon, whenever you call upon me."

Hopefully that is never.

The evil infant took back its poison.

"So you can take it back."

"Maybe I can…"

Children and their troublemaking nature. Rhaegal woke up from a nap and noticed the Evil Infant. "Who is that?"

"You two can get more familiar with each other, I have other things to deal with now."

"Wonderful, more things to disrupt this princess."

"The more, the merrier… hahaha." Aerion left and returned to his room.

He noticed a set of clothes hanging on the wall. The clothes carried the colours and crest of House Targaryen, though Aerion didn't remember bringing them to the Profound Sky Continent.

Looks like someone made it for me.

It was a long robe and seemed rather fashionable with its red patterns. Looked like something a young master would wear. He put on the clothes and looked in the mirror. Blackfyre fit perfectly with the robes.

I look a little pale… it'll go away in time. Now, to see where I am.

The moment Aerion left his room, a disciple started shouting his name.

"MASTER AERION HAS RETURNED! MASTER AERION HAS RETURNED! MASTER AERION HA-"

"Shh, that's enough."

"Yes, Master. Forgive me but the Grandmaster gave strict orders…"

"I understand. Lead me to him."

So, the Noble Rogue Sect was truly rebuilt… I am glad.

The disciple led him to the Library while hundreds gathered around. Large, unnecessary, crowds are usually tiresome but it was a good thing in this case. They celebrated his return and treated him like a legendary hero of sorts.

Eventually, Aerion arrived at his destination.

"I thought you were never going to wake."

"Forgive me for worrying you, father-in-law."

"You should not be apologising, not after the lengths you went through for this sect."

"It was my duty… did anything happen while I was away?"

"Of course…"

~

The Grandmaster informed Aerion of most of the events that had occurred. Aerion thanked him and began making his way to the rebuilt Dragon's Palace.

The Blue Wind Imperial Family… hmm, I can't blame the Emperor for being scared of Rotias, or should I say, the Saint Emperor. It is what it is. But the Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace… I owe them a favour, it would seem.

Tai Xia rushed to his side the moment she saw him.

"I thought I'd never see you again…"

"Come now, you know I am not one to die easily."

"But you were poisoned... and they couldn't find a treatment for it. The doctors said you were to…"

"I've already dealt with that, I'll be back to normal soon enough. Let's enter the Palace, alright? The wind is rather cold…"

They did so and Aerion started to explore the rebuilt version of the Dragon's Palace. It wasn't exactly the same but it bore many similarities to its predecessor. As the day went by, he got to inspect the progress of the Dragonsguard. They were well ontrack to humiliating the Divine Phoenix Empire, the self-proclaimed Overlord.

Overlord… they don't even have anyone at the peak of the Sovereign Profound Realm and they dare speak such nonsense? I will show them what a true Overlord looks like after the tournament is over.

Aerion couldn't resist the urge to visit Rotias and humiliate him, so he did exactly that. Rotias was sealed very tightly in one of the unused rooms. The room itself had a powerful formation placed on it. It was very durable, only those at the very peak of the Sovereign Profound realm could hope to break it.

"Heavenly Fire Demon, can you open it?"

"Only you can… it is a more specific version of the formation used by the outpost."

So it needs my blood.

Aerion cut himself with Blackfyre and let the blood drip. The formation opened and Aerion entered.

"Stand by the entrance."

"As you wish."

Aerion thawed the top section of the ice, which freed Rotias' head. "You… I don't want to see your face."

"Too bad. How's the block of ice?"

"It's not the worst thing I had to go through."

"Oh, and what would that be?"

"I would rather not say."

"So mellow… I thought I'd never see you like this."

"If only I would have won…"

Aerion was intrigued. "Then what?"

"I would have taken your body for myself and become even stronger. In time, the entire Divine Realm would have been bent to my will. Then I would slowly recover my true Divine strength…"

"Then?"

"Then I would return to my seat as the God of the Underworld."

"You are ambitious, I must say. But, you lost."

Aerion froze his head once more and left the room.
