The Burning Fiend

Life on the small island soon returned to normal and having Yale and George along made Reynolds's mood relaxed, their current life style reminded him of the early years at the Ernst Institute... but now Yale was the one working harder while it would seem that Reynolds was the lazy one as he spent time with his wives and drank wine with his two brothers and sometimes even Harvey and Harry joined sending amused smiles towards Catherine who tried her best in ignoring them.

The truth was that Reynolds's three divine avatars were always training and making progress, he was surprised to find that the 'Mirage' mystery had many similarities in application with the 'illusion' aspect of the Edict of Life, so his progress could have gone unimpeded and it would not take more than 50 years to understand completely the law if his three divine avatars focused in doing so. But he insisted in crosschecking against the already mastered laws trying to find starting points for fusion.

After 10 years of iterations and simulations he finally found a way to start fusing 'Mirage' with the 'Fire Elemental Essence'. He felt that his patience was rewarded as he understood that this new fusion of two laws would have the same power that his current fusion of three laws, 'Mirage' was a high level mystery and the impact it had while being fused with the lowest level mystery was beyond his expectations.

He guessed that when he managed to fuse 'Mirage' and 'Heat', his soul attacks would reach a new realm. Sadly he had not managed to find the starting point to fuse this two mysteries. During this 10 years the ones who made the most progress were Liza and Marie who were George and Yale's wives, just like Rosarie they felt motivated for the quick progress after years of not being able to improve as magi. Yale had found an entry for the 'Lightning Elemental Essence' while George had made progress on the 'Water Body' and with the constant examples provided by Reynolds and Koral they were making rapid progress.

Another 20 years passed and Reynolds found the starting point of fusion for 'Mirage' and 'Fire Body' and after another 30 years he finally found entry to the fusion of 'Mirage' and 'Heat', he had hope to find a way to start fusing the four laws within 500 years, but had no idea how long it would take him to actually manage to fuse them.

If was during this time that Rosarie had become a Fullgod and soon completed the fusion of 'Ice' and 'Water Elemental Essence'. Rosarie was eager to challenge Koral for the position of elder sister but had to resign herself as Koral found that she was pregnant, to the surprise of the whole family... especially Reynolds as he had understood that as his body had become so strong it was difficult to have children, as if the laws of the universe had placed restrictions on creatures with powerful bodies. A clear example of this was that Beirut himself only had three sons in his more than 100 million years of life.

The four girls were extremely excited while Reynolds was slightly confused as he had never pictured himself as a father, but he felt delighted by the news and often chuckled wondering if the baby would have horns like Koral.

A year later the life on the island turned cheerful as a baby girl with dark red hair and bright red eyes was born and become the favorite toy of all the women on the island, even Catherine liked to spend time with the baby girl. The little girl was named Talia, and she was a happy creature that was always laughing and loved to explore new things causing a little trouble as she often tried to crawl to the lake. This caused distress for the girls who couldn't take their eyes of the little troublemaker until Reynolds smiled mischievously and summoned the forgotten Bolt who then was asked to turn into a little cat to babysit Talia all the time.

The saint level panther did not dare to show the slightest resistance as he became a furry toy and guardian to a toddler who could not even walk but was incredible fast while crawling to places she should not be. Bolt mourned internally as he was no longer able to sleep unless the hyperactive toddler used him as a pillow.

Reynolds enjoyed carrying Talia in his arms as they explored the island and from time to time even captured a fish or a bird for the little girl who was always giggling. Soon six years passed and Talia's happy life turned a little different as she was forced to start training, she had good affinity towards fire magic which was expected from being the daughter of both Reynolds and Koral. Jenny and Windsor helped Talia in her warrior training, but most of the time it ended with the two women playing with a giggling little girl as they threw water at each other.

George once joked that Reynolds needed to grow a beard to look more like a teacher as he saw him teaching fire magic to Talia. George and Yale did not expect however that a moment later, to the delight of Talia, he had a long purple beard that reached to his waist as he continued to teach leaving George and Yale laughing as they left the place trying not to interrupt anymore.

One day that he was drinking wine with Yale and George, the little girl came holding a poor cat as it were a rag doll and looked at Reynolds with a hopeful smile. "Father, is it true that mommy is a powerful dragon?" Talia's big eyes were shinning as she expected her father to answer her question. Reynolds chuckled as he took Talia in his arms and said. "Yes, your mother might be the most powerful 'Velocidragon' that had ever existed on the Yulan Continent."

"Would I have horns when I grow up?" Reynolds looked at the little girl noticing that she had no apprehension to the idea, only hope. He pretended to be in deep thought, and then he used his fingers to touch her forehead as if looking for clues, Talia even stopped breathing as she waited for her father's answer.

"Hmm... it seems that you can only grow horns if you become a Demigod, so you need to work hard if you want to have horns like your mother". He managed to keep his face serious while laughing inside, soon Talia was running toward the garden asking Jenne to help her to train the spear making Reynolds chuckle as both Yale and George looked at him with judging eyes.

"What? I did not lie to her... even you can have horns if you want as long as you become Demigods". The two almost fell from their seats as a pair of horns made of divine power grew on Reynolds's forehead and then disappeared as he laughed at his two brothers.

When Thalia turned 10 years old Reynolds taught her how to meditate while dancing with her spear allowing the little girl more playing time to the dismay of Bolt who had become her mount as they explored the island.

During this time Liza and Marie had become rank 8 and rank 9 warriors much to the delight of George and Yale as their chances to becoming saints had grown, they had not decided if they would join Reynolds to explore the Infernal Realm. They knew that their talent was limited and did not want to become a burden.

Another 10 years passed and Reynolds family had some changes, both Koral and Rosarie were Gods who had fused two laws but had not managed to gain insights on a third law. Jenne and Windsor had gained entry to profound mysteries but it will take a long time for them to even become prime saints, the now 20 year-old Talia had become a rank 6 Fire Magi and a rank 7 warrior... she was a living copy of Koral but without the horns.

Both George and Yale had made progress on their respective mysteries, but it would take a thousand years for them to reach the prime saint level. Lisa had become a rank 9 warrior while Marie was stuck at the peak of the rank 9 as warrior just a step away from becoming a saint.

For the next 40 years before the time to leave the Yulan Plane arrives, Reynolds planned to take his family to explore the Continent, and perhaps even visit Leylin on the new Continent he had created, and they all agreed with the exception of Catherine who wanted to spend a few years on the forest that had being her home for 5,000 years.

Reynolds took his family and they traveled along the continent visiting the different empires, the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts, the Sunset Forest and many other places while making stops every day for Talia's training and soon 20 years passed allowing Marie to become a saint while Talia managed to become a rank 8 magi and a peak rank 8 warrior.

Reynolds enjoyed this routine as he remembered the first time that he went with Windsor to the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts and it was normal to find himself lost in thought with a bright smile on his face.

The land on the new continent was already showing great vitality, no doubt under the efforts of Leylin and middle-sized cities could already be seen as Reynolds and his family flew towards Leylin's residence. "Who would have thought that this Continent did not exist 300 years ago... Lord Leylin is truly powerful. It seems that the Earth Elemental Laws should have some relation with the Edict of Life or it would be impossible to have this result in such short time..." Reynolds said while Windsor fell into deep thought considering his words.

"I have to ask Catherine, perhaps it could be of use for my training". Windsor muttered to herself with a little frustration and was startled as Reynolds chuckled. "You might not need to wait long, in my experience, Lord Leylin likes to teach others and this might be a great opportunity to gain insights for all of us."

The entire group smiled and looked forward to met Lord Leylin while Talia muttered. "Bullies... talking about laws and edicts in front of a poor mortal child". Her voice pretended to be full of grievances causing everyone to laugh at her antics, soon Reynolds could see the familiar dome he had visited before and a bald man was waiting for them with a bright smile. "Kid, Third Brother is waiting for you".
