The Chronicles Of Rhaxtyx

Chapter 29 - The Secrets

"For now I want you to tell me about the school of magic you are proficient in." (Rhaxtyx)

"I use reinforcement."

"And that is…"

"Like enchantment but not permanent."

"I see. Specifically what are you reinforcing?"

"My body and weapons. That's all."

"I understand. Let's go to the forest. We can hunt and obverse each other's combat abilities as well as movements. I also want to know more about you."

They left the guild without taking a request and went towards the city gate. Their destination was the same forest that Rhaxtyx fought with the Black Leopard. The signs of battle were still present but they did not go there again. There was nothing of interest remaining there for them. Even the wild life stood clear.

They kept walking until finding a nice spot to sit and talk. Nothing was near. Not even wild animals. They sat down and Rhaxtyx looked at Miriam with curious eyes.

"So… You want to know my past?" (Miriam)

"Yeah. Knowing about my employees is crucial."(Rhaxtyx)

"I hail from the Dynasties. I'm not a special child. Did not have the blessings of mana from birth, knew nothing special either. No bloodline. I was a commoner at birth. But, the Dynasties are notorious with their lack of conscious when it comes to acquiring knowledge. The officials abduct orphans and good-for-nothings monthly. Or, if they don't any matches for their criteria, they usually create 'orphans'. And take these children to a special facility.

The abductees are usually babies but there may be some special cases as well. I never knew my parents, I didn't even know if they ever existed. All I know is that I was in the facility since I was an infant. The purpose of these facilities is to create perfect soldiers with unnatural magic affinities. And they achieve this by conducting experiments on the infants. The survival rates of these experiments are really low, in the best case there are three or so children surviving. In the worst case, there may be no survivors for months.

They make you live in mana rich areas for that purpose. If you don't know, being in mana rich environments for a long period will most likely kill you.

As a result of these experiments, the children awaken new abilities and gain the blessings of the mana with force if they are lucky. Then, if they awaken their skill tree and obtain their affinity, they are taken into training. These affinities are mostly natural ones like you know but there may be some cases where an unnatural affinity can be attained."

"Like your 'Reinforcement'?"

"Precisely. But an affinity similar to mine already exists, just very uncommon. It is a weaker version to mine and it only involves body reinforcement. I am getting off track here.

After these experiments, the survivors with unnatural affinities are taken into training and the children with natural affinities are thrown out like garbage. They usually end up as soldiers in the army but there are some that die because of not getting into contact with enough mana for a long time. The children that are taken are trained in weapons, subterfuge, magic, history, economy and even killing. This usually takes around a couple of years, until the children are 10 years old. In the meantime, they are thought to hate each other, having heard that they have no friends, no family. Everybody is your enemy; they will try to kill you one day. They make the children hear this all day almost every day. Then at their tenth birthday, they are gifted with the chance of survival. They are put into arenas and made to fight with each other in a battle royale. They promise the winner an exit from the facility and a life. And frankly they are true to their words. I am out of there and I am living a life.

They give the winner a number as an identity and use you as a professional assassin. I'm the 99th survivor of this experiment."

"Humans… They seriously never change! And I call myself cruel when I conduct experiments. At least I give them power and let them live their life! I've never meddle with their life! Well except that one elven woman."

After telling her story, Miriam took out a water skin and Rhaxtyx was clenching his fists. He was sick of arrogant humans. Miriam waited for Rhaxtyx to calm down and asked.

"Umm… You said… You conducted experiments? Gave power?"

"Oh yeah… You don't know."

Rhaxtyx looked around and spread his mana to see if they head any 'guests'. After confirming there were none, he doffed his Disguise and returned his and Badgey's looks to their original. When Miriam saw this she was visibly surprised. Her jaw had dropped and her eyes were wide open when she saw Rhaxtyx's white hair and crimson eyes.

"'White head and crimson sight…' It really is true! Who are you!?" (Miriam)

"Who am I? Well I'm Rhaxtyx, The God of Magic, of course. I gathered that because you told me about yourself, it is only fair to tell about myself to you."

"Then tell me your real identity. There is no god that is named like that. There is no 'God of Magic'."

"I know. That is the worst about my situation."

"I can tell you who they are if you want. At least the human ones."

"Then tell me about these gods. Who are they, what are they like?"

"There are 9 Gods. Each of a distinct property. Their element also represents their characteristics. These gods are Water God, Blood God, Forest God, Earth God, Metal God, Fire God, Storm God, Wind God and lastly Star God. They all have their own lands to rule and Water God rules these lands that we walk on. Because of the properties of blood, Blood God is also here and is under command of Water God. There's also one more godlike being. Even though they are not really counted as a God, because they are as strong as Gods, they are accepted among them. They are strictly natural and don't pick any sides. You actually know one of their followers."

"What is this guy's name?"

"They are simply known as 'The Guild Master'."

"Really? What kind of a name is that?"

"They hide their name well. They have become divinity as a natural force, with the ideal of making everyone have a chance at being strong they created the Adventurers' Guild. Thus they are known and worshipped simply as 'The Guild Master'."

"They have a funny name."

"I wouldn't speak in that manner if I were you."

"What, they're gonna smite me or something? If that's so I'm waiting!"

Right as he finished his sentence, they heard a rustling sound. When they looked at the source, they found a shrub shaking.

---------------------------------------------------------

In the dark corridors of a stone castle, between crimson walls, a single man was walking. His footsteps echoed in the hallway and with the various armor stands and painting hanging on the walls, it gave off a creepy feeling. The hallway was dim; the only light source was the candles hung up along the wall. The silver moon light gently landed into this hallway from the occasional window on the man's left side.

The man's outfit was illuminated by the silver moonlight and a badge knitted to the left side of his c.h.e.s.t could be seen. This was a crest and if anyone saw this crest, that person would be shocked and scared. This was the 'Blood Skull of the Blood God', the crest of the Blood God Family. The occasional servant in the hallway would stop what they were doing bow deeply to salute this man. He was currently walking to the patriarch's office.

Even though it was dead in the night, the Patriarch of Blood God Family was sitting in his office and was currently reading reports. His crimson eyes were moving about on the page and his long fingers would trace the page. He was stroking his beard with his other hand he seemed focused.

*Knock knock*

"Come in, Helio." (Patriarch)

*creak*

This man was Helio, one of the Patriarch's personal servants. He was a fierce fighter and a cunning person. He did a slight bow and kept his head lowered.

"Sir, everything is in order." (Helio)

"Good. I wanted to see our guest myself. Let us go then. I'm sure our guest must be impatient to meet me."

The patriarch stood up and put the report on a shelf behind the desk. He exited the room and Helio followed him from behind. The two guards nearby started to follow them after they walked a distance.

The Patriarch breathed deeply and spoke with a smile while stroking his long hair.

"I simply love this kind of nights. It is just perfect. Don't you think so too, Helio?"

"I do, sir."

They walked for a while before arriving to a flight of stairs. They descended these stairs to reach a dark underground tunnel. They would arrive at the dungeon after following this tunnel. The Patriarch led the way and others followed. The guards stopped at the exit of the tunnel and took positions on both sides of the way.

The Patriarch and Helio walked until they arrived at a certain cell. Two people were standing watch here and they bowed once they saw the Patriarch come. They hurriedly opened the door to the cell and Patriarch entered followed by Helio. The door was closed after them.

There was a young girl hanged to from the wall by chains. Her blue hair was making it so that her face was hidden and there were numerous wounds on her body. The Patriarch smiled and walked beside her and spoke. When this girl heard the footsteps, she opened her eyes and looked at her visitor.

"Hello princess."
