In the months that followed, Astaroth was promoted to rank S. He already had strength, but Makarov did not want to promote him because of his temper tantrums.

He changed his mind because of the connections he had made with the Strauss family and a decision the Magic Council would make about the young swordsman. This saddened him because all he wanted for the young man was a simple life with his companions, but Destiny seemed to be striving to lead him on a path of infamy and darkness. Following his tantrum against Natsu, there were many things about the demon's past that were revealed to him. He had resigned himself to the fact that he had to follow a path stained with blood, but he would make sure that he did not feel rejected by his family.

Near a mountain cave, near Crocus

Astaroth stood in front of the entrance to a large cave well hidden behind the vegetation. It was the hideout of Mountain Glory, a dark guild who believed himself master of this mountain. Although it was only a mission of rank A, because of the weak power of the members, the swordsman took the mission to calm his murderous impulses.

He monitored the cave for more than 2 hours to ensure all 53 members were present. Finally, he decided to reveal himself.

In an instant, he decapitated the sentry at the entrance. He left the world without even knowing how.

Using his surveillance wisely, he had already confirmed that it was the only exit. Wanting to quickly get rid of criminals, he used his Magic Water-make.

Astaroth: Surfing Strike

A great wave was created at his feet and went towards the cave. But it was not finished. The swordsman raised his hands and shouted

Astaroth: Hiding in Mist

The fog spread around him, quickly the area around it was invaded by a thick mist. The first was to get the rats out of their holes. As for the second, it was used to hide the swordsman and to add confusion to his opponents.

Believing that their landmark was being flooded, the dark wizards hurried out to escape. What they did not know was that they were heading for a bloodthirsty devil.

In panic, they did not notice the fog outside their hiding place and scattered around the area. At that moment, their number began to decrease.

After two minutes, a terrible scream was heard. All members of the guild went to the noise to help their companions. Thirty or so people came near a body cut in half from the waist. At this vision, they all turned pale without distinction.

Dark mage: Ambush !!! Form a circle and hold the position !!

All the survivors positioned themselves in a circle to cover all blind spots. Many of them had sweat on their foreheads because of the anxiety they felt.

For several minutes, people did not dare to move. But the more time passed, the more criminals began to lower their guard. They thought the abuser was gone now that they were united.

The mist began to clear, but a voice was heard.

Astaroth: Running fire

A circle of black flame appeared around them. Surprised, they recoiled, which broke their formation. A figure jumped in the air and placed his right hand in front of his mouth.

Astaroth: Great Fireball

The shock of the powerful flame instantly burned the majority of black mages. The swordsman snuck past the last survivors and the blood spread quickly on his blade. It was not long before the head of the last man was at his feet.

Having finished his work, the demon took out a rag to clean his blood-stained sword. Another silhouette emerged from the mist and appeared in front of him.

It was a young woman the same age as him, she had long black hair and wore a white kimono.

Astaroth: Who goes there !?

He did not hide his eyes and revealed them to his interlocutor. Although she seemed slightly tense, she looked perfectly calm. Nobody could have this reaction if it was the first time we saw them. It meant that she had been spying on him for a while.

Young woman: I am Ultear Milkovitch, I am officially here to inform you that the Magic Council wants to promote you to the tenth place of Saint Wizard.

Astaroth was not really surprised by his statement. Makarov had already warned him of the plans the Magic Council had for him. On the other hand, he wondered why someone would come to him and say something like that in such a place. That's why he thought about everything she told him.

Astaroth: And unofficially?

A smirk appeared on Ultear's lips, which proved to him that the swordsman was far from stupid.

Ultear: A certain man wanted me to give you a message. "If you are ready to discover what the true power in this world is and to see what The Essence of Magic is, come meet me, you will get a power you can not imagine. "

Having delivered her message, the young woman turned back and began to descend from the mountain. She did not turn around, to persuade that the swordsman would follow her.

Astaroth did not move, he pondered a word.

Power. A word so simple, but with an unimaginable impact. The strong could do what he wanted and reign like a king, while the weak could only cry over his fate and curse his weakness.

Astaroth wanted to become strong. He owed it for himself and his purpose. Whenever he thought about it he remembered a huge monster. It was a huge lizard, spitting a devastating jet of energy. In other words, a dragon.

A look of resolution appeared in his eyes. He followed the direction the young woman had taken.

He had made his choice!
