The Little Calamity

Rayne hugged Arisa back, he felt like he was missing this warmth his entire life. Without knowing he used too much strength in fear that this feeling would go away.

" Owowow. Wait Rayne let me go."

When he looked at her he saw her face filled with pain, he immediately released her and for the first time of his life he felt remorse.

" Sorry, did I hurt you?"

Still, his face showed no emotion. She could hear the panic in his voice which made her giggle.

" I am fine. Hey, as a thank you for saving my life two time I was thinking of taking care of you, what do you say?"

He had always lived in violence so her kind words were foreign to him, they were words that he never heard about and didn't know the meaning behind them.

" Care?"

He at least knew the meaning of thank you but nobody ever took care of anybody in this city, just like there was no affection or petting in a place like this. Arisa though for a bit but couldn't come up with a good definition of the word.

" Taking care of you mean that I will cook your food, watch over you and make sure you stay healthy."

" Does it me..an you will stay with me?"

his voice was still hoarse but it was slowly becoming better. It was his first time talking so much, even when he was torturing people to learn how to read all he said was 're..ad orr suf..fer.' a single time, he told the rest by torturing them.

Still, he wanted to be close to this woman. Whenever she smiled he felt like his world gained colors. As if she heard his thought she gave him another sweet smile.

" Yes, we will live together and help each other."

He looked at her as a strong urge filled his body, he had no idea what it was but only a single thing came to his mind.

" Then you are mine, I will protect you."

He hugged her again, taking her by surprise. Her face turned red but she didn't deny it.

' Even under all this blood and dirt he look handsome, I wonder what would happen if he took a bath.'

She felt like it was a shame that he was so young, still she could feel his care through his gentle hug. He was trembling a little while making sure he wouldn't hurt her again, she felt her heart melt when she noticed it.

After a few seconds that felt like minutes Rayne regained his spirit and separated himself from her.

' She smell good but that smell make me drop my guard.'

Seeing that she wasn't hurt this time he returned to normal which wasn't very different, his face was emotionless during all of this, even if he wanted to react he didn't even know how.

Only now did he remember what he was doing. He brought Arisa to where he dropped the head and showed it to her.

" Who is this? He w..as strong."

It took her a second to recognize the head that had a bullet in it. She couldn't help but take a step back because of this disgusting scene.

" Was he your ….... frend?"

It was a word that he never used so he wasn't sure how to say it. Luckily Arisa shook her head, realizing that this was probably a normal thing in this city.

" No, this man is a renowned mercenary, a man that was forged in battlefields. You could say that he was a little similar to you, he was an orphan that enrolled in the army when he turned 12. Since then he fought in multiple wars, although his kingdom was destroyed he survived and became a mercenary. If he is here..."

While she said that she realized multiple things but what worried her the most..

" You fought against him? You aren't hurt, are you?"

Her eyes were filled with worry at this thought. This was a dangerous man, his skill and strength were both at the top.

" He blocked a hit, it was a surprise."

She became fl.u.s.tered, realizing that she was still underestimating this child. No, his age didn't matter she couldn't see him as a child no matter how hard she tried.

" Then first we have to go and buy a house to live in."

She felt like she needed to change the subject a bit.

" You can live in those?"

He looked at the brick walls around, he saw some people enter them but he always felt like they were traps. After all if they made it collapse on his head he would die. To him those giant things were simply traps. Arisa sighed a little at the though that someone so young could live like this before explaining things with a smile.

The houses in this city were extremely cheap, barely a fraction of the price of those outside. It was a given considering what city this was, people could kill you and steal your house in the middle of the night and even if that didn't happen you could die at any moment just living here.

There was a few advantage to buying a house the normal way, first there would be electricity at a cheap price and second because of the electricity the security alarm could be activated, this was the only way the owner could make money after all so if the owner was killed or didn't come to the city hall everything would be deactivated in a month.

A few people simply kill someone new each month to live freely but this was simply the nature of this city.

Rayne entered the house while his senses were all at full alert, he looked at everything that was new with curiosity. He had to rely on his instinct to see if something was dangerous or not. Arisa laughed when she saw him but it felt like a whole different world so he couldn't hold back.

" First go an take a bath, you will need it."

He smelled like death, no matter how kind she was it was hard to smell that.

" B..Bath?"

He had a hard time saying B so he stuttered a little. Arisa already predicted it and took out her phone, this was another advantage of buying a house normally, they also had internet. She looked up a video of a man cleaning and showed it to Rayne, of course the man wasn't nude and simply showed of to wash properly.

" I will fill the bath so just imitate this man."

" What is this magic? There is a little man inside."

He took a fighting stance, ready to fight against the little human. With this she realized that Rayne was basically a cave man. She patiently explained to him what a phone was, only now did she realize that Rayne was literally wearing a bag in which he made holes in. It would be hard to find clothes in this place so she couldn't do much against it.

Luckily for her Rayne was smart, even if she explained badly he immediately understood what she meant. He did learn how to read from watching people talk about posters after all. After a few minutes he went in the bathroom and did exactly as he was told, he opened the water and he felt startled by how pretty it looked.

Compared to the water in puddles which was what he usually drank this was so different. He couldn't help but taste it, compared to even the special meat this was the best thing he ever tasted. He drank as much as he could for five minute straight, the bath barely filled with how much he took.

He could feel his stomach bloat a little then he finally remembered what he was supposed to do, he removed his bag and slowly scooped some water with his hands to wash his body outside of the bath. Arisa told him to do this so he could enjoy a clean bath, otherwise it would quickly turn into a disgusting shade of dirty red.

During this time Arisa placed a ring that she had on a device plugged into the wall, causing a small screen to appear. The screen was showing multiple image of different objects, by touching those object they appeared in the real world, with her ki sealed this was the only way to use a spatial ring.

She started to prepare a small surprise for Rayne, she couldn't wait to see his reaction. Unconsciously she started yearning for a smile from him, just imagine how he would look like caused her cheeks to become red.
