The Lost Chronicles Of Pangea: Apocalypse

Chapter 50 - David Vs The Evil Dead (VII): Deadly Fight

David changed he form of his battle blade, turning it into a spear as he warily watched the abomination that was making slow but steady gaits as it approached him. Vidi had stopped eating thankfully, and was standing fully prepped right beside David for the right that was to come.

Suddenly the Zombie broke into a run, and it was really fast for a dead monster of it's size. In no time at all, it was in front of David and was swinging its armored clad hand at Davies head. David felt his senses tingle, and he opened his eyes in shock and bent down to dodge the blow that would have left him in pieces.

This zombie was a living being. His ability to sense the Intent to attack was working in full swing unlike the other zombies he had to fight to get here. This zombie apart from its already very different size, look and speed. It had a fully functioning mind, which meant David could dodge it's attacks. But that was wishful thinking as this thing was a fast, too fast.

David shoved his spear at its armored clad c.h.e.s.t, causing a shower of sparks to fly up into the air as his spear slid across the armors surface, leaving not even a scratch behind. The zombie threw its other fist down, hoping to pound David into the ground, but his senses warned him, and he incline his body, barely dodging the fist as it came crashing down hard into the cl.u.s.ter of gold and precious ores on the floor. There was an audible boom, as a crater five meters in diameter appeared, with a lot of destroyed treasures right in it's middle.

The force from the punch had thrown David off his feet, and sent him crashing through a mound of golden goblets. It was not a comfortable experience as David hit his head really hard in the process. He felt woozy for a second, but was able to reorient himself long enough to see Vidi launch himself like a cannon ball straight to the Zombie's c.h.e.s.t.

"Bang!"

It was almost as if someone had fired a shot gun, the zombie was put of balance by the force of the hit as it took five steps back, and waved it's hand about to get it's balance back. There was an opening and David took it as he ran up a small mound of gold coins and jumped, raising his spear with both hands over his head to bring it stabbing down into the giant zombie's face. It was wishful thinking on his part, as the zombie swatted him out of the air like he was nothing more than a nuisance.

The hit took him to the entrance of the treasure room, right at the doorway of the hall he and Vidi walked through to get here. David heard a sound of crashing, and watched with abject horror as Vidi took a chomp of the Zombie's arm, tearing it off at the elbow.

"ROOOOOAAARRR"

It's screams of pain were intense, and David had to cover his ears to relieve the sudden screeching and pressure within them. The zombie swung its massive foot in rage and kicked Vidi straight for David. He didn't need to be a seer to know that should Vidi with all of his bulk and weight so much as touches him, based on that speed he was rapidly advancing with. David would be heavily Injured, if not dead. And that was not an outcome he wanted to see happen.

He inclined his back and watched with fascination as Vidi flew over his head, crashing to gleaming tiles in the hallways, and breaking through them, up turning the earth and cement beneath them. He made a mess of the hallway, causing upheaval for a distance of ten meters, before coming to a stop. Then the crafty reptile poked his head out of his shell, took one look at the approaching monster, and ran the other way and out of the pyramid.

David blinked his eyes, completely shocked and surprised by Vidi's cowardly actions. That tortoise was the only one with the weapon capable of beating this monstrosity, and instead he ran away. What the hell was going on here.

David turned to the zombie and was shocked to see that it had carried its severed hand and was reattaching it. Strings of flesh, blood and metal came out of its body to reintroduce its missing limb back to its body. The place where the armor was ripped off too, also came back together with the armor on the arm, looking as if it was never torn off in the first place. The zombie attaching its lost limb back was freaky enough, but the armor doing the same with it's missing piece shook David a lot.

Such a feat was possible with magic, but how in the hell was it possible for a Zombie to use magic. Even on Pangea, that was not something you see everyday, in fact it was not something you see at all. David took a few steps back until he was back in the hallway, and waited for the Zombie to come closer. The space was enough for the zombie to walk through, but not enough that it could swing those massive armored hands of his with ease.

The zombie gave a grunt of annoyance as it threw a kick straight at David's face. Even though David did not expect such a tactic, he was able to move his entire body sideways as he dodged the lethal kick. He immediately bent down, and the hands that tried to grab his head touched nothing but air. David stabbed his spear upward, and the huge hands were shifted a bit. It was not as much damage as he wanted, but it was all he could deliver.

He quickly got up and moved back, trying to create some distance between him and the zombie. But his opponent was not having it, as if the very thought of David managing to escape was a precursor to extreme bad luck for him. He kept on throwing punches and kicks that David was only narrowly dodging, and even then he had to push his body to the very limit to be able to handle the zombies current barrage of assault.

David had already activated his molecular restructuring skill as his body took on a grey hue, his speed was somewhat affected, but he was still able to barely keep his head attached to his body. He needed to keep his defenses up just in case something went south, because to be honest he was getting really tired, and his opponent has not shown an sign of fatigue since they started this dangerous dance of theirs.

David suddenly heard a screech from behind him, and massive thumping sounds as if something was rapidly approaching behind him. Whatever it was, it served as a distraction for David, leaving him vulnerable for that one infinitesimal second that saw the zombie pounding his head with a punch that threw him off his feet and flying down the hall.

Whatever it was that was running behind him, passed underneath him as David went over. When he was about to crash down, he looked up long enough to see a black blur launch itself at the zombie, leaving behind a sonic boom that shook the entire hall. The hit was devastating as the entire back of the zombie was blown open and its rotting guts and pieces of its broken armor flew into the air.

The force of the hit also carried the zombie of its feet, and in similar fashion to what it just did to David, was sent flying backwards. Then David hit the ground, hard. His head ached and his back screamed in pain. He felt as if there were a lot of things in his body that were not in their proper positions, yet he couldn't tell what they were, Darkness came and took him.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

When David woke up, he felt himself moving. He was laying down on something rough, and a cursory glance down told him it was Vidi who was carrying him. The sneaky little bastard ran away, then came back charging like an insane reptile, which foster David his concentration. He really wanted to beat the shit out of this thing.

David sat up with great difficulty, though he was surprised by how the Vidi manage to carry him, he didn't think to much about it. Every move he made to get back to an upright position had his body screaming and protesting in pain. He could feel things broken within his body, and he could also not feel some things too. His head was pounding again, it was the familiar pressure that came around every time his body wanted to evolve. He was not sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing at this point in time, but there was nothing he could do about. Hopefully he would be able to survive this one and his strength would increase well enough that he doesn't end up being a punching bag for another armored zombie.

They came strolling back into the treasure room, and David could see the zombie in a worse situation than he was. It entire c.h.e.s.t cavity and stomach was gone, they were all blown to bits and scattered all over. But what really shook David was the fact that it was still alive, it was still freaking alive!. Blood strings stretched out from a heart that was relatively instant, and was laying about three meters away from the zombie. The strings were slowly gathering the bits and pieces of flesh together, trying to reform its body back.

It seems that as long as his heart remained, then it's impossible for him to be killed. What a f.u.c.k.i.n.g cheat. The Zombie was healing, but its rate of healing was very slow, a d David estimate d he had enough time for a good nights sleep before the Zombie's lungs would be formed, so he chose to ignore it. He was in no state to kill it, and he did not trust that just because it looked helpless and weak, that it was completely defenseless. David motioned Vidi to go towards the blue metal that was still floating above the insane pile of treasure below, completely undisturbed by the ferocious fight that had taken place just minutes ago.

David stretched out his hand and grabbed it. Immediately, the metal melted into his palm, and a dragon fashioned into the number 2 appeared on the back of his arm. The dragon was the same as the ones he had seen on the platform, it looked like a twisted union between flesh and machine. It was like a cyborg dragon, flesh and machine together.

"Even if you have gained this key, with your strength alone it's impossible for you to defeat the other guardians. You will fail, and just like your predecessors before you, the seal will return back to it's resting place."

David was shocked, and now truly afraid of the zombie in front of him. It was talking, talking. 'My God! It seems the dead are no longer just satisfied with walking, now they're talking.' David thought to himself as he wondered how he would reply the monster back. He looked down at Vidi and smiled, then he looked at the zombie and said.

"Whoever said I was alone."

Then he turned and left the pyramid, leaving behind an injured zombie and truck load of wealth that would have enticed even the ric.h.e.s.t man on earth. But be that as it may, David felt like he had gotten what he came for, even though it was just a tattoo of a mechanical dragon.
