The Lost Chronicles Of Pangea: Apocalypse

Chapter 54 - The Secrets Of The Dragon (II): Death Knights (1)

All five death knights raised their sword up and began to chant in an arcane tongue, the cavern where they were standing shook a bit, as a force field sprung up, blocking the path back into the tunnel, essentially trapping David and his friends with them. Death knights were hard enough to deal with as it is, but death knights in an Artemis sky dragon armor, was just ridiculous.

The sky dragon armor was or should I say is famed for being able to raise the physical capabilities of its wearer to level four and above. And for death knights who were quite capable of performing magic too, this was like giving wings to a tiger. Without a miracle, it would be almost impossible to beat this freaks.

David suddenly had a wonderful idea, why did he not think about this from the start. There was one thing on him that was capable of dismantling the death knights, in fact there were several, but they were all in the trunk of his hover bike, and he would need time to get them out. But from the look of things, this was the only option they had of surviving.

"Lilith! Minerva, I have a plan, but I need ten minutes, so you guys need to hang on and keep the death knights occupied."

"Sure, it's not as if we're going any where." Minerva replied while giving the blocked tunnel behind her a longing glance. From the look in her eyes she was probably regretting walking down that tunnel.

David activated the hover mode of his bike and went up into the air, making sure to keep a distance of fifteen meters from the fight that was about to commence. Then he started rummaging through the trunk of the hover bike.

Meanwhile down on the ground, Lilith had already turned her entire body into it's hard diamond exterior, and her fist began to glow it's tell tale red as she super heated it to intense temperatures. Minerva spread her arms wide as a massive fire ball came into existence, looking more like a ball of orange light, rather than fire.

Then she flung it right in the middle of the death knights and their massive looking horses. The ball of fire shrunk until it was nothing more than a tiny dot of light, then it expanded with an explosion that threw two of the dark knights off their horses. They were all on fire, but none of them looked like they were affected by the heat. The three on horses, that looked like it had jumped out a seven year olds nightmare, charged forward brandishing their swords with a promise of pain and eventual death, the flames on them suddenly extinguished.

Lilith shot forward and took a massive leap going for a head on clash with one of the death knights, she swung her fist, but the death knights countered by swinging the edge of his sword towards her approaching fist. There was a loud bang as Lilith was thrown back from the force, she crashed down to the ground, and rolled back almost three meters before she got back up spitting a mouthful of blood in the process. Across the top of her fist, there was a rapidly disappearing white line from where the sword had made an impact.

The death knight however was not in a good shape, he was thrown off his horse, and the horse suddenly melted into shadows and disappeared like smoke being blown by the wind. The sword of this death knight was broken in half, with the jagged point dripping molten metal from the heat of Lilith's fist. The sword was strong, but from it's current state, it was obvious it was not anything special. Which means the true danger this knights gave off was not their weapons, but their armor just as they had all suspected from the beginning. But seriously which idiot thought it was a good idea to outfit death knights with their own Sky Dragon Armor, this was the true meaning of overkill.

"I found it!" David's voice resounded around the cavern.

"Hang on guys I'll be done in a moment." He said with his voice tinged with excitement. He must have found something big.

"Of course David, take your time, because we're having a f.u.c.k.i.n.g! Picnic down here." Lilith shouted back with a smile on her face.

It was safe to say that David did not need anyone to tell him to hurry up. Three knights were now dismounted, and to be honest the whole process of dismounting the three knights was a bit to easy, of course the remaining two could still cause a lot of damage if they were not careful. The knights raised their swords again, about to chant another spell, and whatever spell it was, there was no way it would turn out into anything pleasant, they were undead after all.

Vidi ran to the front, and spread all four of his limbs, his shell became a translucent shade of emerald as crystals emerged from behind his joints and the horns on his head. Lilith knew exactly what was coming next, so she turned and covered her ears signaling Minerva to do the same.

"RIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRIRI!"

Vidi's sound waves this time were different from the norm, instead of the sudden blast they were used to, he was releasing the waves in pulses and two second intervals. Two of the dark knights were standing just four feet away from the giant tortoise and bore the brunt of his attack. Their armor was compressed and bent in rather grotesque ways as black blood began to seep out from its mangled heap. Even if they were not dead, there was no way any of them would be attacking again as the were now completely immobilized and trapped by their own armor.

"F.u.c.k! Next time please give me a damn warning. You bastard turtle!" David shouted down with the half assembled frame of a sniper rifle in his hand.

Vidi however was not going to take being shouted at, as he raised his head and roared in annoyance,.

"I don't give a damn what difference there is between a turtle and a tortoise, if I say you're a turtle, you're a turtle God Damnit."

"RARARR RRARR!"

"Are you calling me out, do you think I wouldn't come down there and smack you disrespectful a.s.s. You're crazy!"

Lilith turned to look at Minerva, in shock at what was going on. Then Minerva raised her hands to her head and whispered.

"Telepathy."

But the death knights did not find anything amusing, as the last three picked up the pace and ran towards Lilith and Minerva. A head on clash with the death knights would be nothing short of suicide, so it had to be a battle of attrition until whatever it was that David was putting together is ready. The first knight swung his sword trying to slice Lilith in half with one stroke, but she ducked below the strike as Minerva sent a compressed ball of fire to his face. The explosion threw the dark knight back, making him or rather it take a few steps back. But once he regained his balance, they were able to see that the armor only had superficial scratches on it.

Lilith Jumped back, dodging a strike from the next death knight, when Vidi suddenly charged past her to ram his head right in the unsuspecting c.h.e.s.t of the dark knight. There was a loud bang as the c.h.e.s.t area of his armor was crumpled, but not enough that he's mobility was affected. Vidi swayed a bit, apparently ramming his head on an armor made from one of the strongest metal on Pangea made him woozy. Who knew. However his disoriented state left him open to an attack from the final dark knight as he swung his sword straight for Vidi's exposed neck.

The tortoise however proved to be more aware of his surroundings as he twisted his neck and took a bite out of the sword. He had moved with such speed it was almost as if they had watched a snake strike. The sword had bite marks three inches above it's hilt, and the rest of the blade rapidly disappeared down the throat of the tortoise.

But he did not stop there as he did something else that gave his companions pause, he took a screeching, nerve grating chomp out of the armor that so far, none of them have been able to penetrate. His bite was powerful enough that the outer layer of the armor was peeled clean off.

Lilith and Minerva watched in abject fascination as Vidi took his time slowly chewing the metal, savoring it's taste before he swallowed. But enjoying a meal in the middle of a battle was nothing short of a bad idea, as the Dark knight who was now missing a part of his armor, punched down, hard on the Vidi's shelled back. There was audible crack, and a scream as Vidi collapsed to the ground, an expanding crater beneath his broken body.

On his shell there numerous cracks spreading slowly as the giant tortoise lay convulsing on the ground. Shocked at the were by the sudden turn of events, no body expected David to drop down from the sky in anger, completely abandoning his hover bike several meters in the air, with a massive sniper rifle on his back.

He landed right on the death knight who was raising his hands up for another blow. They crashed to the ground with David on top of the death knight, then his skin turned a startling shade of grey, as he bent his hands into claws. Then he pulled at the air, he was making gestures as if he was trying to open a door that was shut tightly. Previously a tiny piece of cloth had been over his left eye, keeping his eye abilities in check, but now that piece of clothe was missing, as his left eye blazed blue in fury and rage, the death knight could not move completely trapped in the domain of David's telekinesis.

Naturally the death knight was just about two meters tall, and with his telekinesis only able to affect an area one meter in diameter, David could only keep the upper body of the death knight trapped, as the screeching sounds of grinding metal filled the air. The armor was being pulled apart like it was made of foam. But the effort alone was too much for David, who at this point was only relying on blind rage.

He was angry, but wrath in a battle is not always a good thing. The remaining two knights had already come close, and swung their swords straight for his neck. David reflexively used his telekinesis to create a shield of sorts, but the strength from their swings, shattered their swords and threw David off his feet, and past the barrier that had been keeping them trapped.

Lilith and Minerva did not hesitate to drag the now heavily Injured and unconscious Vidi back into the tunnel with Veni and Vici following behind. Those death knights were not anything special, in fact they were very weak and their sense of battle was practically nonexistent, but their armor gave them an edge that most people can't go over, even Lilith with all of her strength could not withstand a head to head clash with them. It was quite obvious that they had lost this round.

But David was not willing to give up and he laid down flat in his stomach, and pointed sniper rifle that was almost as tall as he was at the cavern with the death knights within. The sides of the gun lit up as a low pitching hum filled the tunnel. Then David squeezed the trigger.
